  1. This is the part of the article I can't get over. More than half your remaining games against those three teams? That is what you call rough!
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) I completely agree, I'm just saying that so many people here love Thome. Sure, pick out his homer in the 163rd game last year, the one earlier this year against Oakland I think it was, etc. It just seems like he never does it in the late innings. I'm sure there's a stat that proves me wrong, though. Let Thome walk and bring back Dye to DH. Danks in CF, Quentin in RF, ? in LF. Don't forget the game-winning, three-run HR on opening day against the Royals. I'm not sure what some people want from Jim. Even at his advanced age, he's still one of the most productive DH's in the AL.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) Cubs sale is going through. All their fans think they're going to add a ton of money in payroll, which is unlikely from everything I've heard. With that said, don't be surprised if they trade Jake Fox for George Sherrill. I won't be surprised. I'll be SHOCKED. That would make no sense whatsoever for the Orioles. An above average closer for a DH? When they've already got Luke Scott? Is this something you just randomly came up with?
  4. What's the scouting report on this kid, Cubano? From what I've read he's all glove and no bat.
  5. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 06:37 AM) Damn, Chris Davis got sent down. I was really hoping to see him get 250 K's. Justin Smoak time?
  6. It'd be a lot easier to be patient with CR if we weren't, you know, trying to win a division. Danks and Floyd took their lumps in a year in which we were never in it. That's a big difference. I'd give Clayton another start before the break and evaluate from there.
  7. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 12:56 AM) LOL at Scott Podsednik even being in the conversation. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. This I agree with. This would've made sense two months ago. It makes absolutely no sense right now.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:29 PM) Toronto would be a great team to target right now. They are rumored to be looking to cut payroll, and their attendance is about 7000 people PER GAME lower. They have to be in a world of hurt right now. I'd be willling to bet if JR was willing to approve the addition of Peavy, he would approve Halladay. Halladay >>> Peavy And that's no exaggeration on my part.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:26 PM) The gun in KC is probably 2-3mph fast. Yeah, you mentioned that last night. I'll keep that in mind from now on.
  10. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) Flowers is part of the untouchable prospect group including Beckham (if you still count him as a prospect), Danks2, Hudson, and Viciedo. Flowers is not untouchable in the case of Halladay. Nobody outside of Beckham and maybe Hudson (because of our lack of starting pitching prospects) should be untouchable in this case. Viciedo is obviously not going anywhere.
  11. One loss. Big deal. Will get 'em tomorrow. Go motherf***in' White Sox!
  12. QUOTE (qwerty @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) Soria throws nowhere near 95. For his career his fastball velocity is merely 91. This is why it's pointless to go by radar guns, I guess. In the games I've seen, they've had his FB clocked 93-95.
  13. ob·ses·sion NOUN: 1. Compulsive preoccupation with a fixed idea or an unwanted feeling or emotion, often accompanied by symptoms of anxiety. 2. A compulsive, often unreasonable idea or emotion 3. Jordan4life and Little Ceasers Crazy Bread Oh yes! Today is cheat day ladies and gentlemen! I vow to down at least 4 bags of Crazy bread.
  14. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:37 PM) This will be tough based on the fact that we beat ourselves. Team defense is why I refuse to 100% get on this team's bandwagon. I learned the true impact of good defense in 2005. Before that I used to blow defense off.
  15. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) In Hindsight I wonder if bringing in Poreda would have been a better move. Dunno but let´s hope the O gets a few runs. I hope Becks come sup again and hits another one out!! Go Sox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Matt has been one of the best relievers in all of baseball doing exactly what he did today: Throwing that 98 MPH fastball. No second-guessing from me. He got beat on a cheap hit. s*** happens. I'm much more disturbed by Ramirez's neverending short bus play over at SS.
  16. This will be a tough loss to swallow. We needed this game in case Richard, the weak link of the rotation, pitched poorly tomorrow.
  17. So who's the better prospect at this point? Yu Darvish or Aroldis Chapman?
  18. Rich Harden is trash. I get so sick of hearing about his k's. He's not a good pitcher.
  19. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) We routinely hit guys who throw 95 and above, so bring it. I would be worried if their bullpen was filled with left handers who throw 85 with a good changeup. I agree. I guess I take our guys for granted because I see them every day. But it seems like every reliever the Royals throw out there is bringin' serious heat.
  20. Q's got a point. I think we were all in awe of Brian's d in 2006. Remember the article that came out that year (it was either baseball prospectus or MLB.com) that showed Brian was on a record-setting pace for runs saved over the course of a year or something? Combine that with the fact we've had guys like Pods, Dye, Mack, Swisher, ect patrolling the OF for the last few years and it's easy to overrate Brian's d.
  21. Between Tejada, Colon, Cruz and Soria, the Royals might lead the league in BP guys that routinely hit 95 MPH with their fastball.
  22. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) I guess we were due for one o these This game is far from over.
  23. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:02 PM) So sad....hey Matt, try something other than fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball, fastball He's been a 1-pitch guy all year. And that was a cheap hit.
  24. The Dodgers offense just transforms with Manny in the lineup. What was their record without Manny by the way? Anyway, it's them and then everybody else in that wack ass league.
  25. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) Sox are rolling right now. the only thing i could see us needing is a veteran bat at either 2B or 3B with gordon staying at the hot corner or moving over. This isn't me being an ass to you, so don't take it that way. But I'm getting sick of all the moving Beckham all over the damn infield talk. Leave him right where he is right now.
