Cleveland is done
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) It's not that far fetched. Mauer is hitting .380, Luis Castillo was a HUGE addition to that offense and Brad Radke is better than a 5.50+ ERA pitcher. Santana, Liriano and a righted Radke isn't exactly bad, good enough to keep them in contention. I think they lack the offensive power to take the division over, but I don't think they are as light as they were last season. Add a bullpen arm to that team and 90 wins seems pretty reasonable to me. Twins' offensive rankings: Runs=11th Hits=10th HRs=13th SLG%=12TH That's not gonna change anytime soon. Everybody knew they were gonna be offensively challenged this year. Yes, Santana and Liriano are absolutely filthy. But two reliable starters, even two as good as those, won't be enough. Radke, Silva, and Bonser have all been HORRIBLE. Unless they make multiple impact moves before the trade deadline, moves that net them more offense and another starting pitcher, 79-83 wins is the best they can hope for. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) Cleveland had a terrible offseason. True, but nobody could've predicted guys like Westbrook and Lee would struggle like they have. Even Jason Johnson, a guy who had a pretty decent year for the Tigers last year, has been far worse than expected.

Cleveland is done
QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) Just copied this from knight's sig. About 3 months away from proclaiming Myself, Rowand, Greasy, and DBAH0 as geniuses. It ain't over yet, but it's looking good even though I didn't agree that the twins would win the WC. Sig bet with Rowand44 12/29/05: Finishing higher in the AL Central in '06: Rowand44 - Twins knightni - Indians Wanna side with me or Rowand44? PM me. Indians: knightni, 3E8, rangercal, ScottPodRulez22, TheBigHurt, chitownsportsfan, rventura23, Felix, Texsox, SoxFan1, santo=dorf, sayitaintso, Jordan4life_2006, TheDudeAbides, Steve9347 Twins: Rowand44, DBAH0, greasywheels121, SoxAce PS - He also thinks that the Twins will win the WC. I say they could get passed by Detroit and fall into 4th. Nobody could've foreseen the Indians' pitching being this atrocious. I knew it wouldn't be as good as it was last year, but this has been ridiculous.

Cleveland is done
QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) At 6 games under .500 and with no pitching, Cleveland is done this year. They may hit their way back to .500, but they aren't going on any huge tear to get back into contention. But, at .500, and with Santana and Liriano in the rotation, Minnesota is likely to put on a run and keep the pressure on. I'm not afraid that they'll catch us in the division, but I think they have a chance to win 90+ games. They might end up as the best team not to make the playoffs. No chance in hell of the Twins winning 90 games.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 11:41 PM) I dont know how many times Wade got the sissiest foul calls on him while Dirk and Terry were super harrassed and didnt get the same calls. That being said I dont really care who wins but it would be nice if the refs would call the game the same for both teams rather give Wade special treatment. Wade, like Michael, forces the refs to make a call. That's what I love about him. He's relentless. He never settles for off-balanced 25 foot 3's with two guys draped over him like Kobe. These last 3 games, especially the 4th quarters, have been legendary. Wade is the best player in the game. Period! QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 11:34 PM) Dallas is the biggest f***nuggit chocker mother f***ers I have ever seen. That is all. This series is far from over, but Dallas has nobody to blame but themselves for the position they are now in. When you're up 13 with 6 minutes to go, as they were in game 3, you finish them off. They didn't, and now it looks like it might cost them a title. I'm still in awe of Wade right now.

Series Preview: White Sox vs. Cardinals
We could be lookin' at a World Series preview right here. I'm really looking forward to this.
-
Props to Sox Fans re: Cincy
The Reds would be pretty damn good if they could find a starting pitcher or four.

Big question??
QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) I'm rather certain he was joking. It was laid on pretty heavy there. I didn't think I needed the green for that one. lol.

Dayn Perry Does it Again
QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) Obviously he's wrong about the k-rate, but he's probably right in the fact that Contreras won't finish with an ERA below 3, and he's also right that he's let up a fair amount of runs since coming back from the DL (by my math, he's got a 4.71 ERA since then). He makes it sound like Contreras will be a failure if he can't keep his era under 3. As if there's some long list of guys in the AL who sport earned run averages below 3.

Dayn Perry Does it Again
QUOTE(G&T @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) According to him, nobody can ever improve. Nobody for the Sox, that is.

Dayn Perry Does it Again
It's very rare that I ever become speechless.

Big question??
Rowand? Hell no! The only way I'd trade BMAC is if we got Jon Lieber in return. The ball is in the Phillies' court.

OFFICIAL GO CUBBIES THIS WEEKEND THREAD!!!
We're one World Series title away from the Cubs officially being extinct in this town.

OFFICIAL GO CUBBIES THIS WEEKEND THREAD!!!
QUOTE(G&T @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Yeah this is a historically bad team. They're on pace to go 62-100.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
QUOTE(Balance @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) No help from the Cubs, but then, we didn't really expect any, did we? It's still a Cubs town, though.

OFFICIAL GO CUBBIES THIS WEEKEND THREAD!!!
You have got to be f***ing kidding me! Isn't this the second time this year they've given up 8 HRs in one game? LMAO! This is the worst Cubs team I've ever seen, and that's saying quite a bit.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) I don't know, but It'd be difficult to argue against it. This is the first time all year the bullpen and the bottom of the lineup has had an extended run of success at the same time. Combine that with our starting pitching and overall offense, I'd say it's easily been our best week.
-
Glendon Rusch to the DL
They need to send his ass to fat camp.
-
AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
Anybody agree with me that this was the best week of baseball the Sox have played so far?

Riske..what you think
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Im not 2 sure about that. We have our 2 lefties already established in Thornton and Cotts. Than for righties we have Jenks, Politte, Riske, and B-Mac. A course Politte might continue to suck and everything but I think he will at least be avg. and than who in the bullpen are you going to replace? Especially since lately everyone has done their job really well. It all depends on Politte. If he comes back and still sucks ass, you and I both know Kenny isn't gonna just gonna standpat.
-
AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
Jon has been showing flashes of his '05 dominance in his last couple starts. Today was vintage '05. I think this is the start of an extended run of excellence for him.
-
Garlands Homer
Mark is a competitor. I'm sure it irks him (in a playful way) that Garland hit that HR. Nothing at all to make a big deal about.
-
AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
Just an amazing series and road trip by the White Sox. This was Jon Garland's game this day. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) What did I say about the Reds series again? I like my crow extra crispy.

Jose Contreras
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) I asked a question like this in the game thread. How many pitches did Wood and Clemens throw in their 20-K games? Wood threw 122 pitches. I don't know about Clemens.
