Rotation concerns??
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) Yeah, because Detroit is the model MLB franchise. Forget the fact that they rely on three-run homers to win games. Forget the fact that they can't win a series against any of the elite AL teams. Forget the fact that they haven't been to the playoffs since 1987. Or forget the fact that they're in first place? Or the fact that they lead the AL in era? What does them not being in the playoffs since '87 have to do with '06? Most teams would love to have Freddy as their #4 if he's pitching well. A 5.13 era on June 11th doesn't qualify. What's replacing McCarthy with Garland gonna accomplish? We'd still be in the same boat we are now. I never said our starting rotation as a whole has been bad. But 2/5ths of it has been real bad. That's cause for concern for a team that revolves around its rotation.

Man, 7 runs was just about a guaranteed win last year. Freddy

This just in: The Mavs are pretty damn good. The Heat look old and played out. Anybody notice how badly Shaq sucks on the road?

Win or lose, I love the never die attitude this team displays every night.

GAME THREAD 6-11-06 SOX vs INDIANS
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) I just want to see the tying run get up there.....that's all I ask. Not gonna happen.

What a difference a year makes. Last year, the Sox and Indians had pretty much the two best bullpens in the league. This year? Not so much.

Rotation concerns??
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) Most GMs would sell their souls to the Devil to have our rotation... even with below-average pitching from Garcia and wretched pitching from Garland. Three of oru five starters are pitching well and two of those guys are likely All-Stars. I'll take three quality starters and a competent bullpen over five quality starters and no bullpen any day. Well, Detroit is getting good performances from all their starters every night. We're not gonna have a 15-game lead to play with this time around. If we're gonna get back to the playoffs, we need Garland and Garcia to wake-up.

GAME THREAD 6-11-06 SOX vs INDIANS
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) Please stop it. We haven't lost by 2 yet. Well, take those two runs away, and Thome would have a chance to tie the game.

Hitting Coach
QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) Who says an organization has to fix its problems in order of concern? Yes, ideally we'd upgrade the bullpen with two dominant arms, then upgrade SS, starting rotation, and finally hitting coach, but if KW needs to work out of order, that's fine with me. And why exactly do we need a new hitting coach? You're seriously not gonna blame Uribe being a retard on Walker, are you?

GAME THREAD 6-11-06 SOX vs INDIANS
Too bad Tracey couldn't hold 'em down. We'd still have a shot down 3 runs right now.

Please god let this be the start of a hot-streak for Anderson.

Rotation concerns??
I think there's definitely some concerns. We can't use the "it's early" excuse anymore. Contreras, Buehrle, and Vazquez have all been solid to dominant. Garland and Garcia have been average to pathetic. We can talk about the bullpen-ss-cf holes all we want. This team begins and ends with its starting rotation.

Hitting Coach
I think this team has far more pressing concerns than finding a new hitting coach.

Sheffield to have surgery; out until at least September
So they're gonna be without Matsui and Sheffield until atleast September? Makes you feel a little better about our current situation.

AL Central LONG Run
QUOTE(jenksd @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) the white sox I like this answer. I still feel we're clearly the most talented team in the division. If we play like we're capable, something we clearly haven't done this year, will be fine.

Ozzie is a classy guy
QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) What the heck is a great "in game manager" and why is it important to be one? Didn't we learn last year that it's most important to be an "in season manager"? Don't you think Ozzie has shown he's great at managing a group of players through-out an entire season? ^^^

Hello Mr. Anderson
QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:43 PM) I still can't believe JG pitched a a complete game against the Angels in the ALCS last year. What does his suckage this year have to do with last year? QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) Against the Pirates, Cubs and Reds. I'm not all that worried. Um, the Reds are tied for first now. I also would be a little worried about being able to match the Reds' high-powered offense -- especially in that ballpark.

Sean Tracey
QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:02 AM) Let's take it easy now. Boone Logan once looked good as well. Obviously a different situation but can we see some more games and different situations before we annoint him? Exactly. I just think we're desperate to have somebody, anybody step-up and do atleast a decent job in the 'pen. I've liked Tracey for a while. I think he has a chance to be a good one. I'm not about to get excited over one performance in which we were down 4 runs.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread
The Mavs are just insanely deep and versatile. They've got atleast 5 guys who can go off for 20+ points in any given game. Terry was the man in game 1. The Heat have to do a better job of getting the ball inside to Shaq if they're to have a chance in this series. The Mavs are more talented, athletic, and deeper than the Heat. Shaq can be the equalizer, though.

Have the Sox just gotten fat and lazy?
QUOTE(brijames @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) This team has lost the edge it had last season. They don't have that fire or chip on their shoulder that they played with last year. I guess thats what happens when you finally win the whole thing. This team is not talented enough to just show up and win. They have to do all the little things, the hustle plays, like they did all last season. I can accept losing when the team at least competes. It's time for somebody on this team to stand up and let it be known this isn't acceptable. I will not be at all shocked if the Tigers come in this week and sweep. They are a hungry ballclub, much like the 2005 Sox. They will make this series out to be a very big deal. The White Sox better get their collective heads out of their behinds and do the same. :headshake

QUOTE(OldSox2 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) Anybody know how he's doing this year? You don't want to know. It still stings that we had to include him in the trade.

Something I found funny while at the game tonight
I've been a Politte backer going all the way back to February when most here were saying he wasn't gonna come close to his '05 numbers. Let's just say I'm eating a lot of crow. Politte has been horrible. He should keep his mouth shut until he gets his era under 5.

Jeff Nelson to DL
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) Well Boone has a hell of alot more of them... Jeckle, Boone Logan is absolutely horrible. And what's this experience you speak of? The month or whatever it was he was with us? C'mon now.
