  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 17, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) It seems a bit naive to think a kid can handle the big leagues with just 5 (bad) innings above Rookie ball. No? Maybe, but he's on the team. Is Ozzie supposed to hide the kid for 162 games? He was gonna have to be tested in a situation like that at some point.
  2. I think it's best if White Sox fans go with the mindset that we won't have Hermanson this year. It will be a major bonus if he is able to give us anything.
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 17, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) Common sense seems like the obvious answer, but since you had to ask the question.... So we're just supposed to know a guy can't cut it in certain situations just because? If you say so.
  4. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 17, 2006 -> 12:25 AM) Of course... But that's how people were rationalizing the decision to allow him to pitch to Travis Hafner in the 8th inning of a 1-run game. It seems absurd to even think that he'd be in that situation now. And how would we know that unless he had been put in those situations?
  5. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ May 16, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) Jim Thome is a monster. That guy is amazing. But the bum struck-out with a chance to tie the game in the 8th. I shouldn't need green for this comment.
  6. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ May 16, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) you get fine pitching, because the Twins late in the swing at every first pitch its like they wanted to get the game over fast They've been getting great pitching all year. Looks like some of their younger guys have finally matured.
  7. I think it's cocky and arrogant to expect anything outside of winning the division at the moment. We're not gonna have a 15-game lead to play with this time around. Detroit is GREATLY improved. The Indians are as good as anybody if they can get their pitching in order. The Twins, with their pitching, and especially with them finally moving Liriano into their rotation, should be in it all year. It's gonna be a lot tougher just to get back to the playoffs this season. Do I think we will? Yes. And then you can start talking about getting back to the World Series and winning it.
  8. The Heat have looked really good since we beat them in game 4. They're getting solid performances from their role players every night of late. They also look a lot better defensively. With the Pistons struggling with an average Cavs team, the Heat could be primed to get to the finals.
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 16, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) Thornton looked solid today He was very impressive. I just wish he could get more regular work. Also nice to see Juan with another 3 hit game.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 16, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) It may be just as likely that the Mavs sapped the Spurs in game 4 and the Spurs just won't have any heart left for game 5 no matter where they play as it is that the Spurs will come out and refuse to let the series end quick. At this point, you've got to just say that the Mavs need to win 1 game out of 3. That's all they have to do. The odds are in their favor. They also can't get lackadasical though. I don't see them being sapped as you say. This is a championship quality team with a lot of heart. If anything, I think you'll see an extremely desperate team come game 5. They're doing anything they want on offense. They just can't stop the Mavs. They better figure something out quickly.
  11. The Tigers are getting some fine pitching. I'm starting to think these guys might be for real.
  12. The Knights are getting some unbelievable pitching this year.
  13. I didn't become a baseball fan until 1991. 1991-2005: Frank Thomas Current: Jim Thome
  14. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 16, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) My head actually hurts from how much this jagoff frustrated me today. No need to get personal and call the guy names.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 16, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) I disagree. I actually like what I saw from the kid. Sneaky delivery, average fastball, but it comes onto you faster than it looks like it should. But he's a rookie pitcher who's never pitched above A ball, and he pitched like it. I mean, today he threw 40 pitches and 20 strikes. That's the hallmark of a guy who's scared of being beaten, and is trying to throw the perfect pitch every single time out. He needs to face some AAA hitters, get some confidence, focus on throwing strikes, and try to get to that point where he thinks "here it is, hit it if you can." He gets his wits about him and he could still very well be a solid pitcher. Just not right now. Good points. I'm also with the thinking that Boone can be a good pitcher in the future. It was just too damn unrealistic to think he could hang right now. Although it was a cute little story while it lasted.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 16, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) It's Javier Lopez time, baby. The Knights have 6 guys with a sub-.200 BAA against lefties. Paulino Reynoso .063 Agustin Montero .107 Heath Phillips .121 Sean Tracey .148 Javier Lopez .158 Chad Bentz .167 Sounds good to me. Boone gets an A for effort, I guess. He simply hasn't been able to throw strikes. It's a shame, too, when you consider that's all he was throwing in the spring. It's time to get Lopez up here.
  17. QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ May 16, 2006 -> 07:44 AM) Call me crazy but I think we might trade either Pods or Uribe. Uribe has been amazing at short stop but his bat needs to pick up. I think that either Cintron might be a temp while we trade both pods and Uribe to try to get someone. I think Ozuna is ready to play play especially in left field. If you think about it Pods is starting to get things together but for awhile he was struggling. We need him to get on base and use his speed thats where he is most deadly. I think Ozuna has that speed as well. You're crazy.
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:58 AM) If Pods wants to get a new long - term deal, he's probably going to have to keep hitting like this for the majority of the remainder of the season, especially with the way Josh Fields has gone about his business in Charlotte. So is the thinking within the organization that Fields is best suited for LF?
  19. I was so close to grabbing this guy in the 10th round in my fantasy league. I'm still pissed.
  20. QUOTE(gsoxs1 @ May 15, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) Anyone know where I can find the video of the rant? Youtube would probably be your best chance.
  21. QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) id rather have the savior, pierre LOL. I gotta give Jeckle serious props for once. He was right on about Pierre. Dude is past his prime.
  22. Good thread@Heads. Anderson has been taking a beating on this board. Nice to see a positive thread regarding Brian. I've just noticed that he's putting together quality at-bats. That's the main thing, IMO. The hits are gonna come. He's too talented for them not to.
  23. I just hope Pods can remain healthy. He's a damn good player when that's the case.
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 15, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) It would cost us Fields + more. :puke Anderson will be a better player than Hunter anyway.
  25. Nice to see Coop getting some national recognition. He's done a splendid job with this staff since he's been here.
