  1. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) I dont think so with the Mavs... They will have Terry back which makes them a lot more dangerous... i see them beating the Spurs. They obviously could -- but history shows that when the lower seed fails to close-out the higher seed at home, they usually end up losing the series. The Lakers and Cavs have found that out.
  2. QUOTE(shoota @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) By dominance I am speaking of performances like Hermanson, Politte and Cotts's 2005 seasons. I don't care if the bullpen personnel changes every season, just as long as the dominance is present. So Kenny was supposed to go out and secure three guys during the off-season that had eras in the 2's?
  3. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) I duno, but i remember when the tejada trade talks were abrewing, people were saying uribe is like tejada, or the next tejada LOL. Unfortunately, they wanted Bmac as well.
  4. QUOTE(shoota @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) haha, ever since Crede came off the DL last August he's been a quality player. Uribe's performance is unacceptable, especially when the Sox have a legit replacement already on the roster in Alex Cintron. Uribe's undisciplined hitting approach is a peeve of mine and it hurts to watch. And I haven't liked the bullpen since Spring Training. KW has had months to acquire dominant bullpen arms and has thus far failed. We have a few decent bullpen guys, but I demand dominant bullpen pitchers. Dominant? Do tell?
  5. Well, Nelson pitched one inning today. Gave up a hit, no walks, and two strikeouts.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) Uribe's throws have been in the dirt way more than usual. That's exactly what I'm talking about.
  7. QUOTE(Allsox @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) I know he's been hitting like s*** but his glove has been rock steady this yr. Like I asked Nuke, what other games has he played horrible defense this yr?!? I know today losing hurts, especially cuz the Cubs beat the Sox the way the Sox beat everyone last yr but that's the way it goes sometimes. The Sox took the series and now, they face the one team they almost always play bad against. I'm worried about the A's than Juan defense the rest of the year for sure. What's sad is that the play today wasn't even counted as an error. I think he's been lazy at times in the field. Konerko has saved him from atleast 4 or 5 extra errors this season.
  8. QUOTE(Allsox @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:03 PM) I'm so disappointed in Sox fans with this thread. Uribe makes one bad play today and all of a sudden, he sucks now?!?!? I didn't think people needed a reminder of how clutch this guy was in the World Series but since it's the stupid Cubs series, I guess some people still invest more emotion in it and that's pretty sad I'm more mad about the Jacque Jones HR (The Sox hafta be the only team he hits well against) than Juan's error. Did you read my post? I'm not getting on Uribe for one bad play. His defense is not on par with what it is last year. The pathetic .195 average just makes it worse. Uribe has been flat bad this year. Can he turn it around? Sure. But Ozzie shouldn't wait too much longer. June is right around the corner and Juan is still clueless.
  9. QUOTE(bogie @ May 21, 2006 -> 05:57 PM) Word is he isn't close to being an option and probablt won't ever be. His fastball is a low 80's pitch and he isn't ever going to be the "good" Jeff Nelson. Source?
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 21, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) I think anyone who talks about Uribe "making bad plays" in the field is talking nonsense. I haven't seen much "s***ty" defense from him. I think you're talking out of your ass if you're talking about him making bad defensive plays. Uribe is with the White Sox because he has a cannon and makes Shortstop look easy. I can recall several good plays he's made at the hole this year. Broken bat flying at him, anyone? I didn't get to watch past Contreras getting pulled today, so I can't attest for the whole game, but I can't quite recall Uribe making a poor defensive play this year, much less several. I do know that Crede bobbled a ball today -- maybe we should crucify him, too? Like Podsednik a few weeks ago, and as some of you would do to Anderson. Uribe's bat is another story, but his defense is why he plays the games and Cintron sits on the bench. His d has been average at best the last 3 weeks. He often makes a lot of lazy throws to first that Konerko has to scoop up. Yeah, he can still make the occasional spectacular play. But his d is not on par with last year.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 21, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) Bah. 3rd time's a charm for Sheed. :rolly I'm definitely pulling for Miami in the East. LOL. Did he guarantee another win today? Anyway, the Cavs had their chance to finish them off. They blew it. I see the Mavs suffering the same fate tomorrow.
  12. Pistons about to finish the Cavs off. So are we all still witness?
  13. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) Well Uribe had a very important play today that he had to make and always does. His offense should've been an issue even before that error. He definitley needs to step it up because we all know he can swing the bat a lot better than that. His d has been shady all season. You're right, .200 is bad even with good defense. It just magnifies his offensive woes when he's not making the plays in the field.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) We hope the Angels keep f***ing up and we try and get Donnelly or Shields. What are their contract situations? I'm not sure what their contract status is. But they would have to be 10+ games out around mid to late June to even consider trading those guys -- especially to us. That division is pretty pathetic. So they'll probably be in it all year. I'm really all for adding Guardado if possible. He's actually pitched pretty well since being demoted, and I think his overall body of work overshadows his earlier struggles this season.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) Sorry, G: 34 AB: 121 R: 8 H: 23 2B: 4 3B: 1 HR: 1 RBI: 9 TB: 31 BB: 6 SO: 25 SB: 0 CS: 1 OBP: .224 SLG: .256 AVG: .190 OPS: .480 LOL. Outstanding.
  16. Pistons starting to pull away in the 4th. Up 12 with just under 9 minutes to go.
  17. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) I was against him hitting #2 from the time it was first mentioned and its obvious that he's not capable of holding that slot. He really needs some work to get himself on track because right now he's a serious offensive liability. I can accept .245-.250 from him if he's playing defense like he's capable. But to hit .200 with s***ty defense? Unacceptable.
  18. I can't believe this guy was actually being consisdered to hit #2. The dude is showing absolutely no plate discipline whatsoever. When does he not swing at the first pitch? Anyway, that's not even my main beef right now. Juan has been VERY lackadaisical in the field of late. I'm just not talking about the moronic error that cost us the game today, either. If not for Konerko's solid defense at first base, Uribe would have about 4 or 5 more errors than he already has. If you're gonna hit .190-.200, you better damn well make the plays in the field. Say what you want about Anderson's bat, but his d has been sparkling. Ozzie needs to seriously get in Juan's face. Last year, we had no choice but to play Juan when he was stinking up the joint. But we've got a solid all-around player in Cintron now. Ozzie's message to Juan should basically be: get your s*** together, or your ass is gonna take a seat right next to Tim Raines on the bench. Sorry, I'm not one to call out our players. But I seriously had to vent after the error today.
  19. QUOTE(MayIHelpYouMrLennon? @ May 21, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) Discuss. I'd be willing to ship out Garland or McCarthy for some decent BP arms. Cotts and Politte arent what they were last year.. all we really have is Jenks. Jeff Nelson and Javier Lopez. That is all for now.
  20. Any Sox fan that can't cheer Frank for what he did ON THE FIELD should be ashamed of themselves. Spare me all the "Frank is a baby" or Frank "ripped" the organization bulls***. Why do fans act they're part of the organazation anyway? Frank has never, ever "ripped" Chicago or the fans, therefore fans shouldn't act like they're just so outraged by something that has nothing to do with them. Why was Frank so upset in the first place? For wanting to finish his career in Chicago? A place he loved? Oh my f***ing god! What a f***ing asshole he is for that. Was Frank Perfect? No. Did Frank make some stupid mistakes? Yes. As have a lot of athletes over the years. But even if you don't like Frank as a person, respect what the man did ON THE FIELD. You know what I'm gonna cheer for on Monday? I'm gonnna cheer 7 consecutive seasons of a .300 ba, 20 hrs, 100 rbi, 100 runs, and 100 walks. I'm gonna cheer back-to-back MVPs. I'm gonna cheer his batting title in 1997. I'm gonna cheer his 7 seasons with an OPS well over .1000. I'm gonna cheer his amazing bounce back season in 2000 after two poor seasons in which many thought he was done. I'm gonna cheer countless clutch hits/hrs that took the Sox from sure defeat to victory. And all this was done without any artificial enhancements. If a Sox fan can't cheer him for that, I feel sorry for you.
  21. This could be a rather quick game if Buehrle and Maddux are on.
  22. I just saw the video of the so called 'punch' by Terry. It sure as hell didn't warrant a suspension. I can't believe how pussified the NBA has gotten. It's f***in' pathetic.
  23. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ May 18, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) wow what a difference a year makes, as far a spitching goes garland: 6.18 garcia: 4.56 Jenks: 4.76 Politte: 5.65 McCarthy: 5.48 plus we got logan:5.68 thornton: 5.79 It's still early. Aside from Logan, all those eras will come down.
  24. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 18, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) We second easiest team to steal on in the entire MLB (I'm assuming the Padres with Piazza are the worst). The Indians have to be right up there.
