This winters trades
QUOTE(TLAK @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) I was in a friendly bar discussion with a guy who was busting me over how much I whined when KW made his moves over the winter. He tried to get me to say that last years group would not have the record that this year’s group is putting up. I said they would be about the same, the argument never ended, even while watching Javier give up his 7 earned runs in 5-1/3 innings. So this morning I looked up how the guys in the moves are doing. Offensively it looks like a wash, although to be fair Everett and Thomas probably wouldn’t have a combined 235 AB were they both still with the Sox. At a glance the pitching looks like an improvement but it boils down to 12 innings and 3 runs. So I stand on what I said, the team is not dramatically improved this year and in the years to come the White Sox may rue losing Chris Young, Gio Gonzalez and Danny Haigwood. You've come to this conclusion on May 14th?

Garland
QUOTE(WCSox @ May 14, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) Those teams will also trade away Contreras and money for Estaban Loaiza and fail to get to the WS. Nah, I've already supported Garland though the 2002-2004 "rough patch." It's time for him to perform. He "performed" last year. Not only in the regular season, but the playoffs as well. But go ahead and toss him aside if you want. Just don't jump back on his bandwagon when he gets goin' again.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 14, 2006 -> 01:40 AM) I remember them, and their troubles focusing for 48 minutes at a time (SEE: Last 2 games) is going to get them in a lot of trouble. You can't just "turn it on". Please. The Pistons are so good it's illegal at times. Are they supposed to sweep through the playoffs? I'm not saying they can't be beat, but they're the favorites at this point.

White Sox @ Twins
29 runs allowed in the last 3 games. Mark's gotta get us back on track. I do not want to get swept by these clowns.

Garland
QUOTE(BobDylan @ May 14, 2006 -> 02:17 AM) So he has a good year last year and he earns the right to suck balls and not get hammered by the fans? Or maybe we can still support Jon through his rough patch and hope he gets on track soon? My bad. This is Soxtalk we're talking about.

Frank Thomas Injured?
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 12, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) Shocking Frank was taken to a hospital after the game and diagnosed with having sand in his vagina. The Big Skirt has been doing that s*** for 5 years now. f*** him. Everything good he did for the organization was more than cancelled out by his big mouth. If and when he ever makes the hall of fame I hope they send his sorry ass in an A's uniform. We dont want anything to do with him anymore. Who's we? You and aboz? Please speak for yourself next time.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 14, 2006 -> 01:10 AM) The winner of that series (The Mavs) will be your NBA Champs. Great games to watch. The Pistons say hi.

Garland
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 13, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) You don't keep McCarthy in the bullpen if Garland can't cut it. Great. Let's move Jon to the 'pen. I'm sure he'd flourish.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 13, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) I agree that Jon should be so much better than what we've seen thus far, and it's really disappointing that he keeps having these outings where he gets shellacked. Hell, he even had AJ doing the catching for him last night and still got crushed. No more Widger as an excuse. I hate to have to say it, but I'm going to say it anyway...if Jon keeps putting up games like last night...well, it might be time to start looking at the backup option with the incredible changeup. Give Jon some extra rest out in the pen or something like that. You don't give out 29 million dollar contracts to relievers.

J.Nelson
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 13, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) With the way Everyday Eddie has pitched thus far this year, I can't believe people actually want him. Hell, B.A. beat him. He's pitched like dog s*** this season. But he has a proven track record of success.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 13, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) Wow. The Cubs are horrible. Dempster gives up a 3 run HR after Maddux pitches a gem. I actually feel a little bad for Maddux. He pitched a hell of a game.

5/12 Games

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 12, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) Less than a minute left, Heat over the Nets by 8. Heat up 2-1 in the best of 7 series. Dwyane Wade is pretty good.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 13, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) Nice to see our own fans turn on our players so quickly, especially after what Jon did last season. It's Soxtalk. What do you expect?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 11, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) Wow, Matsui is going to be out for a WHILE... Yup, 3 months. That's a tough blow for them. Their lineup is still plenty good enough to survive, though.

Agustin Montero to be Promoted
QUOTE(fathom @ May 11, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) This might get me blasted, but this is another example of how far away our minor league prospects are from being major league ready. Please don't get Tizzle started.

Haeger
QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ May 10, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) rape and pillage? i don't call trading a guy that will never help your team win a world series, for bullpen help raping and pillaging? obviously your life sucks bad enought to be the "tough talking message board guy", so these are my last thoughts on the subject. Anderson-4th outfielder Garland- one year wonder Crede-playing for contract what about danny wright? where's mckay christensen? what about super joe borchard? scott ruffcorn? rodney bolton? jon rauch? the great one year wonder mike caruso luis andujar arnie munoz? and the names go on and on spout all the names for me you'd like gutless wonder. the best you got is mr. one year jon garland???? looks like you'll have to take his sausage outta your mouth to respond. looks like the sox disagree with you as charlies ass we sent packing back down to the minors. now please give us a rant on kenny williams and why this was wrong. Here's the board for you: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/ Have fun.

Haeger sent down
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) Is Jeff Nelson ready yet? I wouldn't expect him to be ready for atleast another month. It's too bad we couldn't sign him right after the Cardinals released him.

Haeger
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 10, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) All of you idiots calling for Haeger to be shipped off with no return are complete and utter fanboys. One start, one mistake is all you people need to s***can someone. He was obviously nervous as hell pitching for the World Champions in substitution for arguably the best pitch in all of baseball. If anyone thought he was going to be gangbusters and pitch even relatively well was naive. This guy is 22, has 20 starts above A ball with a knuckleball and he's a "scrub" already? Does anyone get second chances in the universe you live in? He was obviously upset as he was routinely yelling at himself after f***ing up. You're theorizing taking our best piece of the bullpen now and throwing him out there for a mere start when it's obvious we need him in the pen. If Contreras is out long term, then by all means McCarthy should be in the rotatioin, but to toss someone aside after one start is mind boggling. You know what McCarthy's numbers were after being called up for the first time? Less than stellar: 25.1 IP 31 H 22 ER 9 BB 17 SO Who else are the Sox going to throw into the fire for seemingly one start? Tim Redding? Lance Broadway? And what if they fare the same as Haeger? Where do you go from then? You people simply cannot judge someone on one start or you'll have a revolving door 25 man roster. Asinine. Good post.

Do WORRY about our Closer
QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ May 10, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) should have gotten that veteran closer BEFORE the season. And who exactly could we have gotten?

Haeger
QUOTE(jenksd @ May 10, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) My entire post was regarding the walks... You mentioned him not getting any calls or being squeezed. It had nothing to do with that. He flat out had no control tonight.
