  1. Javy Lopez goes yard. O's up 5-4 on the Tribe.
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) Victor goes yard. 4-3 Tribe Damnit. Atleast that helps my fantasy team.
  3. Indians/O's tied at 3 now. Erik Bedard is a stud. I can now see why the Cubs tried to fleece the O's during the offseason.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) I'd also like to add that he's homered already against Buehrle, Santana, and Bedard....easily 3 of the best lefties in the AL. He eats lefties for breakfast. I agree that it was a great signing.
  5. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) I wish we'd of traded him for Juan Cruz when we had the chance... At least find a decent CF somewhere... Jeckle, just stop.
  6. Tizzle isn't gonna like this. We won't be able to draft "our" Hernandez, Liriano, or Verlander.
  7. Hopefully, Lumsden can ease the pain of losing Gio. I still wish that we could have kept him somehow.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) cough Royals cough The Royals offense isn't as bad as the numbers suggest. They've got some pretty good hitters. They're just all in a mega-slump right now.
  9. I believe Anderson is going to get every opportunity to snap out of this funk. The team would look foolish if they gave up on Anderson now -- especially after trading Aaron Rowand. We knew before the season started there would be ups and downs (mostly downs so far). But you've gotta give young players a chance. Not everybody comes out on fire right away. Fortunately, we have a team that doesn't rely on Anderson's bat. Our first 8 are more than good enough to absorb Anderson's struggles. I think we should, atleast for now, be content with Anderson simply playing a solid cf -- which he's been doing of late. His bat will come around.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) 1st round predictions anyone? Here's mine: East: #1 Detroit over #8 Milwaukee in 4 games #2 Miami over #7 Chicago in 5 games #3 New Jersey over #6 Indiana in 7 games #4 Cleveland over #5 Washington in 6 games West: #1 San Antonio over #8 Sacramento in 5 games #2 Phoenix over #7 LA Lakers in 6 games #6 LA Clippers over #3 Denver in 7 games #4 Dallas over #5 Memphis in 5 games East: #1 Detroit over #8 Milwaukee in 5 games #2 Miami over #7 Chicago in 6 games #3 New Jersey over #6 Indiana in 6 games #4 Cleveland over #5 Washington in 7 games West: #1 San Antonio over #8 Sacramento in 5 games #2 Phoenix over #7 Los Angeles in 5 games #6 Los Angeles Clippers over #3 Denver in 7 games #4 Dallas over #5 Memphis in 6 games
  11. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) Now I wouldn't say the "main" reason. I'm still pondering over him or Kobe Bryant. Yes I keep hearing about not having Amare. That's a real good excuse, but he did have Marion who is a really, really good player. Who the hell did Kobe have? He single handedly took his team to the playoffs. The only player who is a "cute" player is Lamar Odom and he's only stepped up his game this past week. I'm not saying Kobe is my pick, but I wouldn't say Nash is the clear favorite right now either even though Nash is very, very deserving. I just think I can really see The Lakers giving a good series in the playoffs, maybe even pulling the upset since they are the # 7th seed now I'd also like Billups to win it too, but I think they are gonna overlook him. It's a shame too. Guys like T-mac and Iverson have reached the playoffs as 7th and 8th seeds with average supporting casts. It's not really that big a deal. Marion is indeed a very good player. But c'mon, you can't compare the importance of the two. Not only have the Suns won over 50 games without Amare, they've done it with 5-7 new players. Who was Boris Diaw before this year? Who was James Jones before this year? Raja Bell? Eddie House? Nash makes dudes better. Period. The Lakers don't match-up well at all with the Suns. The Suns are 7-1 against them the last two years (the one game the Lakers won was when Nash and Bell were out). The Suns have way too much depth and too many great shooters for an average team like the Lakers to handle.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Malone will never be a stud. Doesn't have the command for that. A viable lefty reliever who could turn into a pretty good one (if he can stay healthy and improve his command enough) is something I could buy. I'm with that thinking. How old is Malone again?
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) I think the majority of those walks were in his 1st start too. If he can cut it down to only 2-3 walks a game he can be a real stud. 2-3 walks a game? That's still pretty bad.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) The Twins bad lineup is too much for them to overcome when Cleveland and the Sox are in this division, even if Gardenhire's deal with the devil seems eternal. Agreed. They have way too many easy outs in their everyday lineup. I know Rowand is gonna tell me I don't know what I'm talking about and that the Twins are great.
  15. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060419/people_nm/hoops_dc I can't wait to see the movie.
  16. The Tigers are thumping the A's 10-1. Blanton got absolutely shelled. Oakland's starting pitching has been quite the dissapointment so far.
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 06:03 PM) Who was Greg Maddux? That one Braves pitcher right? He's that one pitcher who gets his ass handed to him in the playoffs on a consistent basis.
  18. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) The Japanese players should be eligible. They have to adjust to langauge barriers, rules differences, culture differences, a longer season (as Ozzie used as his rationale giving Iguchi extra rest), and other things that can make the season more mentally and physically draining than most others. Good points.
  19. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) However, Cotts and Pollite still worry me. Do you guys think there burned out from last season? I don't think they're burned out at all. It's not like either pitched an insane amount of innings last year. Personally, I don't think Politte has pitched as bad as his numbers suggest. His stuff has been there. His location has been the problem. They'll both be fine.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) I'm not even sure if it's even worth responding to this. You're going to judge them off of 3 starts? Ignore thier track records and judge them off of 3 starts? Johan had a 3.55 ERA in April last year and an April ERA of 5.40. The guy starts off weak every year, there's no reason to freak out about him now. Wait until he begins to settle in and he'll be unhittable again. You mean dude wasn't being sarcastic?
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) This is the classic KW type question. The A's have a very good team this year, and may not have as good of a team next year (i.e. Thomas could be gone, Zito gone, etc.) So, they can hold onto Zito and make 1 gigantic run this year. Or they could trade Zito, still try their best to make a run this year, and have some other big name guy to try to make a run next year. Personally, if I'm in Billy Beane's seat, I figure that I missed my chance when both the Yankees and Red Sox had down years, and figure that as long as I don't give Zito to one of those 2 teams without raking them over the coals completely, I'll be better off with some other big time prospect trying to help carry me over the hump the next 6 years than just trying this year. I can definitely see Beane's reasoning for trading Zito. Personally, I'd rather take my shot at getting to the World Series. But hey, I won't be mad if they trade him. Anything that makes Oakland weaker, even if it's just for this year, is fine by me.
  22. So what's everybody's end-of-the-season awards look like? Here are mine: ROY= Chris Paul (tough choice) MIP= Boris Diaw DPOY= Bruce Bowen (they better not give it to Ben Wallace again) Coach of the year= Mike D'Antoni 6TH MAN= Jerry Stackhouse MVP= Steve Nash (the Suns were top 3 in the western conference all season without that Amare guy. Nash is clearly the main reason).
  23. QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) thank god we have a good major league team b/c there' not a heck of a lot down in the minors. i like getz, but decent 2B aren't too hard to find. The depleted farm system is a big reason we have such a good major league team. No need to worry. The system will be replenished.
  24. It's just a matter of time until we lose 3 of 5 and people start crying again. Barring injuries, this is a 100 win team. No doubt in my mind.
  25. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) There is someone by the name of Mark Buehrle going against him. Which pitcher is better? I'd take Buehrle any day of the week. Yikes! I love Mark as much as anybody, but let's not get crazy.
