  1. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) She was quite good in "The Gift." If you haven't seen it, I advise checking it out. She gets nude in that movie, correct?
  2. So now we're trading McCarthy because he "might" have arm problems in the future. Only on Soxtalk.
  3. Katie Holmes is nasty now. I miss her Dawson's Creek days.
  4. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) Unfortunately, we have Santana on friday. So we gone. We're due to beat his ass. We're swingin' it pretty good right now. And he hasn't exactly been '04 Santana so far.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) With the number of people that say exactly what you just said, how are they overrated I don't like their rotation at all outside of Pedro. Their bridge from starter to Wagner is also pretty average. They've got a pretty solid line-up, although it will never reach it's full potential unless Reyes learns to take a walk, and Beltran becomes the Beltran from '04.
  6. 1) Sox. It's not even close 2) Bears 3) Illinois basketball 4) Bulls 5) Illinois football
  7. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) Any chance Baltimore can beat the Indians tonight? Or are we going to have to settle the division battle the old fashioned way? The O's don't have much chance of beating anybody unless Bedard is pitching.
  8. C'mon guys. Kenny ain't no dummy. Mark isn't going anywhere.
  9. QUOTE(professionalfan @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) I think he's pointing out that Jeff Bajenaru is not an outfielder. LOL. I didn't even catch that.
  10. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) And we're 1 game behind the super-ultra-mega-hott/totally-completely-unbeatable Mets. The Mets are so overrated it's laughable.
  11. We're all of one game off of last year's pace.
  12. QUOTE(MnSoxFan @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) Well, Malone had a Shutout into the 8th, it was 4-0. Nice. For some reason, I can't find it in me to give up on Malone. He's been one of my favorite prospects since like 2001.
  13. It's a damn shame the Bulls could actually get the 5th seed. What the hell has happened to the East since the Jordan era? I'll still take it.
  14. Maddux is pitching wayyyy over his head right now. This is not 1995. Sure, he's been great so far. But it's not gonna last. He'll have an era around 4.50.
  15. The thought of Mark Buehrle in any other uniform besides the White Sox makes my skin crawl. Jerry, Kenny and the rest of the crew better do WHATEVER it takes to see to it that Mark is a member of the White Sox for a very long time.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) It's amazing to think that this team could EASILY be 14-1. That's the sign of a team with great talent. I still don't think these guys are playing their best baseball. It's gonna be quite scary once they start to.
  17. I'm with Rowand. The A's are one of about 5 teams in the AL with a legitimate shot at getting to the World Series. If they trade Zito, their chances go down considerably. Sure, he's not the pitcher he was in '02. But he's still plenty good.
  18. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) :rolly Are you implying those guys don't deserve one?
  19. That's how an elite team is supposed to handle a crappy one. Very good series in all aspects. I don't care who you are, when you hold a team to 1 run in 3 games, that's gettin' the job done.
  20. Great work Heads. It's apperciated.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) Fastball was consistantly in the high 90's topping out at 99 a few times, slider in the low 90's, curve around 85 but is still having problems throwing it for a strike. Also Hawk said Bobby was throwing 100+ in the pen the past few days. Good to hear that the velocity is up.
  22. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) Today we looked like the team that won the world series last year. Please god tell me that's not Whitney? Good win by our Sox today.
  23. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 01:54 AM) First--no, I don't have to continually insult our minor league system. It's usually something which which erupts whenever I witness a fellow divisional rival promote legitimate prospects. Which, by the way, appears to be occuring very frequently. Do guys like McCarthy, Cotts, and Jenks not qualify as "legitimate" prospects? It's way too early to be overly concerned with Garcia's velocity. As far as his health goes, he's made atleast 30 starts in 6 of the last 7 seasons. Until he takes multiple trips to the dl, I don't really see a health issue. Fair points on Garland and Contreras. I happen to believe last year was a case of two talented pitchers, one being all of 26, realizing their tremendous talent; however, I'll concede that they have to prove that their career seasons were no fluke. I, for one, don't worry about losing Buehrle. I truly believe he'll just have to up and leave for him not to be a member of the Sox after his current contract is up. I agree with most of what you're saying here. The farm system has definitely thinned out the last couple years. But, I look at that, as should you -- as a good thing. Who were our top 5 prospects last year? I'm not sure right off the top of my head. Bmac, Anderson, Sweeney, Young, and Gio? Well, two of those guys are with the Sox. Sweeney is well on his way. And we turned Young and Gio into Jim Thome and Javier Vazquez -- and A LOT of cash. I disagree with the suggestion that we won't be able to outbid other teams for legitimate talent. Winning, or more importantly, winning consistently -- is a very powerful thing. Players are pretty much like fans, if you win, they'll come. The Sox are in a rare position of, barring anything unforeseen, being pretty much set in their rotation for atleast the next 2-3 years. How many other teams can say that? I totally agree that the pitching talent in the minors needs to be replenished. But, unlike most other teams, we have time to do that. I know Broadway doesn't throw 97, but I think it's short-sighted to dismiss him because of that. As far as position talent, I feel we've got some talented guys that could make some noise in the next few years -- Sweeney being an obvious one. But yeah, I agree with the gist of what you're saying here. No arugment here. I think it's very important to expand the talent search to counter our lack of high draft picks. Anderson Gomes, who's from Brazil, I believe, is a guy to watch out for. There's a couple other guys I know I'm forgetting about; therefore, it does look like we're moving in the right direction in this department. Agreed on all fronts here. LOL. You made me work on this one.
  24. The Indians are the real deal. Let's see where the Tigers are in a month before we start proclaiming them "scary."
  25. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) The Brewers are now 5-0 and will suprise some teams this year I watched a lot of there talent come through Huntsville. I've got them finishing second in the crummy NL Central.
