  1. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ May 7, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) Did they lose again tonight? Indeed they did. Got shut down by the great Woody Williams this day.
  2. WOW

You win, they come. Simple as that.
  3. Well, Lee certainly is important. But he's sure as hell not the only reason they've looked like a single a team the last couple weeks.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 7, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) Are you serious? It's a disgrace to baseball that he is going to break the Babe's record. It's gonna happen very soon. May as well accept it.
  5. Rowand, your Twins are so garbage.
  6. Can we just fast-foward to June? Nothing outside of a crippling injury is gonna prevent the Pistons and Spurs from advancing to the finals.
  7. Crede=Michael Jordan in the clutch. Way to bounce back after the stinker on Friday.
  8. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) Had a pretty solid run last year on starting these things, and since everyone else is scared of Johan, I'll get us going here!! Santana (0-2, 5.71) vs. Buehrle (2-0, 2.25) Not the best track record against Johan obviously, but I didn't realize it was this bad last year: The crafty left-hander actually went 4-0 (16-7 overall), with two shutouts and a 0.92 ERA, in five starts against Chicago last season. The White Sox hit just .175 against Santana with 44 strikeouts. Hopefully with Thome, and what seems to be improved plate discipline by the rest of our hitters, we can turn the tide against him this year.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) 4/20 must be an important date for you. Bad break for the Cubs, DLee is one of those guys you have to respect no matter which team he is on. LOL. You know me oh so well.
  10. Anybody checkin' out the D-rays/Red Sox game on ESPN 2? Scott Kazmir made the Red Sox offense look foolish. The Mets will forever be idiots for giving this guy away.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) "Wait 'til next year." I'd love to declare their season as good as done. But the NL is extremely weak this year. It reminds me of the eastern conference in the NBA.
  12. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) Hey, if you're going to use Flashisms atleast get them right. I realize our draft position over the last 10+ years hasn't helped, but more than this is our complete lack of Latin American scouting--where both Liriano (DR) and Hernandez (Venezuela) were signed. As mentioned within numerous threads, name me the last legitimate prospect we've developed from Latin America? Carlos Lee? It's ridiculous how an area of the world producing such a large percentage of major leaguers cannot give us anything in over 12 years. If you seemingly ignore scouting south of Texas, you never give yourself an opportunity to sign a Liriano or Hernandez. This is my concern. We're missing out on some amazing talent. I feel you. I'm just messing around.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) Watch for the Cubs to trade for Tony Clark. That actually wouldn't be a bad move. Any idea on how much loot he's making? The Cubs are in a horses*** situation right now. You better believe every team out there (especically NL teams) knows how desperate they are now. If they do make a move, I anticipate they'll have to severely overpay.
  14. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 05:43 PM) Nothing foolish about trading Rowand. Thome is a bigger part of the equation than Rowand, we need a guy that's gonna play defense in CF ( Which Anderson does). Anderson will be ok in the long run... play defense and let's win another world championship. I agree. I'm just saying that Kenny's confidence in Anderson was a big reason he we was secure in trading Rowand. How would it look if he gave up on Brian a month into the season? I don't even think there should even be a discussion about possibly replacing Anderson until around the all-star break -- assuming he's still struggling by then.
  15. Maybe the Cubs could give Rafael Palmeiro a call?
  16. The Cubs are definitely gonna have to look at making a move. It might be time to say bye bye to Pie.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) So he did! Good memory! http://cubsfansunite.blogspot.com/2005/04/nomar-update.html LOL. I don't know how I even remembered that.
  18. Didn't Nomar get hurt for them on April 20th of last year?
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) Tribune reports it's a fracture of the distal radial bone and the distal ulna bones, could be 2-3 months. Ouch! Maybe they really are cursed?
  20. Very tough luck for Lee and the Cubs. I hate them with a passion. But you never want to see anybody go down. Now Cubs fans have even more reason to despise Furcal.
  21. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Things like this dont help the Tribe out much in the bullpen dept. Wow. I didn't know Betancourt was hurt, too.
  22. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) I really think Lumsden is the better pitcher. Gio, being so small, is gonna have some injury problems. Lumsden's stuff is right there with Gio, maybe a little lower. He's got the low-to-mid 90's fastball, a power curve that isn't as tight as Gio's, but pretty good and a solid change. Plus, Lumsden is 6-4 with a good build. The one thing that works in Gio's favor is his age and his deception with his delivery. Yeah, everything I've read points to Lumsden having more upside. I'd still like to have both, though.
  23. Don't people ever get sick of Bonds hating?
  24. O's now up 9-4. You know, for all the talk about our bullpen woes, there's is just as suspect--if not moreso.
  25. Jeff Conine with a two-run single. O's up 7-4.
