QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) How so Because I don't consider 5 months off in between games 36 and 37 an actual streak.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) Looks like his streak could be over unless he gets one more AB. Rowand batting second today = brutal. He's 0 for 4 with 3 K's. Good. This streak is bogus anyway.

take it easy on ozzie
QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Not right off the bat. How many MLB innings of experience did Logan have going into yesterday? Putting him in to protect a one-run lead with a series victory over the Indians on the line doesn't make much sense to me. It makes even less sense when a well-rested B-Mac mowed down the Tribe in the previous inning. That said, I'm not going to rip Ozzie to shreds over this. Not after last year. Not right off the bat? Then when would be a good time? August?

QUOTE(hi8is @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) in my best bulwinkel voice: "duh... ok george!" i just dont agree... but its cool, we're still homedogs from the fried rice world I think Yasny does the best job of breaking this down. Look, Ozzie is not very orthodox. But I do believe there's a method to his madness. You have to look at the big picture when it comes to him.

take it easy on ozzie
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Ah, but we're only talking about 3 games. Only one of which was close and against our chief competition in the Central. Didn't Cotts pitch two innings the day before? You know Ozzie. There's no such thing as a 'rookie' with him. If you're on the team, you're gonna be counted on to produce. When is Ozzie supposed to use the guy? Strictly in games in which we're up 5+ runs? Then people would complain that Logan isn't being tested in pressure situations.

take it easy on ozzie
QUOTE(hi8is @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) how about see if he can pitch WHEN IT ISNT A 1 RUN GAME... and he isnt facing ONE OF THE BEST LHED HITTERS IN THE AL? if it was 4-2 sox with 2 outs in the 8th and halfner comes up with the bases empty... sure, give him a shot.... but i think that the game was so close is what others are kinda irked about. Like I said, you can't hide the guy all year. Everbody wants Ozzie to shield Logan and Thornton, that's just not realistic over a 162 game schedule. You have to see what guys can do in pressure situations.

QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) Better now than later, find out if the kid can pitch here, if not.. he Gone! This is pretty simple to understand to me. I don't see why people are getting upset.

2005 Sox Players
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) That question doesn't make sense to me, so let me clarify my remark: The A's played Frank Thomas in all 3 games. This is a mistake. He will get hurt if they continue doing so. If Frank gets certain #'s of plate appearances, his salary will go up. Therefore, the only good reason I can see for them to play Frank in every game of a series is that they want him to get hurt, and thus avoid reaching the incentives in his contract. LOL. I got you now. I didn't understand what you meant. I'll have to disagree with you. I think it's silly to think they're playing him in hopes that he gets hurt again.

2006 MLB Catch-All Thread
Scott Rolen is certainly looking as if he hasn't missed a beat. It's easy to forget that they basically won 100 games without him last year. With him back healthy, the NL central is pretty much spoken for.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 09:43 AM) El Duque did look good last night and his fastballs were touching hte 90's. But he looked good for us last year a couple times, especially starting the season or coming off the DL when he was rested. Arizona has to hope he's more recovered from his shoulder problems. And Oakland has started Thomas 3 games in a row. In my mind, unless you don't want to have to pay him the incentives because he's hurt, this is insanity, and I don't care who you're playing or how bad your lineup looks without him. Frank should rest at least 1/3 games, otherwise you're just playing with fire. What incentives would they have to pay him if he was hurt?

No More Complaining About Jerry...
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) Yeah, I know this is going back a little bit (probably before the 2005 season started), but there really should be no more b****ing about Reinsdorf not putting enough into this team... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Fourth folks. Fourth. I guess we've come a long way. Good find, CWSGuy. As somebody who has been critical of Jerry in the past, there's not much I can say anymore. I'm very pleased with where this organaztion is at right now. Whether we win it this year or not is moot. I like the fact that this team should be more than competitive for the next 4 or 5 years. As far as being so into this team that it affects your personal life, NOBODY was as bad as me when it looked as if we were gonna blow the 15-game lead. I lost all of my friends during that period. Nobody even wanted to be around me. My mom and dad even had to sit my ass down and explain to me that it's "just a game." Of course, that's bulls***. It's more than a game. It's life.

Indians pitching impressive last two days
QUOTE(trottime @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) I was very impressed with the Indians' pitching the last two days. True, there were some hit batters, but they seemed to have great location and were able to pitch to spots that their scouts apparently had told them were problems for our hitters. They were pitching outside to Anderson and he had a very difficult time, including striking out twice. Paulie seemed to have a hard time as well. I hope this is not an indication of what the Indians' staff will be like this year. We definitely let them off the hook more than a few times yesterday. Overall, they've got a good staff. I knew that long before these last couple of games.

take it easy on ozzie
QUOTE(sircaffey @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) Up 1 in the 8th inning to a division rival is not the time to be finding out whether Logan is good or if he's trash. There are much much better times to see what Logan has. Win the game first and foremost. You can't hide Logan all year. He's gonna have to be in those types of situations if he's gonna be in your bullpen. Or else why is he here? I'd rather him get experience in those types of spots now.

Good sign. We also knocked Lee around pretty good last year. He had an era over 8 against us.

Marlins
I said a while ago that in 2-3 years the Marlins will be a contender again. I wouldn't expect much from them this season.

Clemens is becoming quite annoying.

Boone Logan
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) I have no idea who your speaking of. I assume you refer to Thome cause he's a pull hitter. Thome can go the other way with the best of 'em.

Sox sign 1B Bucky Jacobsen
Yeah, Bucky's chances of ever making the team were slim and none. I hope he goes someplace where he has a legit chance to make it.
