AL Central Central
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 06:02 PM) Final--Cleveland defeated Minnesota 3-0. They're now 4-1. Pronk was 3-3 with 2RBI, HR, 2B, 1B, BB. My guy Liriano (aka type of hardthrowing starter we'll never see in our organization) struck out 4 over 2.2IP. He's another player that's going to haunt the dreams of AL Central opponents for a LONG time. Flash, you're a really good poster, and I respect most of your opinions -- but do you absolutely have to trash our minor league organization every 5 seconds? Sure, it would be nice to have one or more of those flamethrowing guys everybody drools over. But, considering we draft 15th or lower EVERY year, what do you expect? You're not gonna find guys like Liriano and Verlander where we usually pick. It's just not gonna happen.

Sox vs. Kansas City, 4/9/06, Buehrle vs. Elarton
We will not get swept.

Not going to panic yet, but something bothers me
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) Worry now? Not a chance. If we're struggling like this on Memorial Day then it's time to worry. Preach it Nuke. After what I went through last September, when it looked like we were gonna suffer the biggest collapse in MLB history -- a 1-4 start is absolutely nothing to me. This team will be fine.

Backup Outfielders and now Relievers
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 02:07 AM) I think you just answered your own question. Alright. I thought you were implying we should trade Gload based on performance.

What have I missed?
QUOTE(ZeroHour @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) Let's check. I think my last post was sometime during the playoffs, and before that was sometime last April.....not that anyone, even myself, keeps track. I come back to ST because my baseball addiction is back and better than ever. Not to beat dead horses, but Ill throw in a few kicks. For starters, if you think a city being "over-soxed" or, god-forbid, becoming a "Sox town" is a BAD thing, you need your head examined. Fans=money=payroll=players. Period. I dont care if the new blood are posers, fools, bandwagoners, or just plain newbies, bring em all on. Sorry if you have to leave earlier to park, sorry if the beer lines are longer, its the spoils of war. Speaking of spoils, the team, Oz, KW, JR brought the world series home! Remember? That thing that now defines our team and our baseball lifetimes? We should all be calm as Hindu cows right now. I know I am, but my fellow Sox fans frustrate me with all of this hand-wringing. Its not living in the past, its not blind faith, its trust. Not to sound overly rah-rah, but this team is much improved. yes, it has some flaws, but tell me what you would have done differently. Yes, another bullpen arm would be nice, but I have to believe KW and Coop know more about Thornton than I do, no matter how much Baseball Prospectus I read. I would rather have BMac in the pen and Javy #5 than BMac #5 and another minor in the pen. Thome brings us lefty power and BA, while still cutting his teeth, is a good replacement for Rowand. 2005's bench had Geoff Blum and Timo Perez, 2006 has Mackowiak and Cintron. Both vast improvements and great insurance. Thats what KW did this winter. Insured. We cant predict the future, we can only project, and why is everything always so doom and gloom here? Talk to me next homestand, maybe then well have a picture. Until then, the ledge should stored in the very backs of our minds. Yes, Cleveland will be very good this year, but are they perfect? absolutely not. They are exposed to the same risks as the Sox as is every team. Its time to show some trust, show some pride, and stay the course. Let the Cubs fans worry about how were playing, Im just enjoying the ride. -ZeroHour is a lurker on the SoxTalk message board. The opinions of ZeroHour are his own pipe-dream optimism and contain generalities that should be taken with a grain of salt. If you would like to enjoy the first Chicago World Series in 88 years, ZeroHour suggests cutting back on the sports radio. Zero, I beg you, please post more often.

Blow this team up!
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 01:54 AM) I know this thread was meant to be sarcastic but I do think that the pitching has regressed to the mean but they are all still good. Still, blowing monster leads to the Royals is pathetic and embarrassing. How does one determine the pitching has regressed after 4 games?

Blow this team up!
I hate Soxtalk sometimes.

Player perspective... BMac
McCarthy is a true student of the game.

Dye Update?
QUOTE(SAC @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Does anyone know if Dye is going to be able to start today? He's not starting today.

Sox v. Kansas City, 4/7/06, Garland v. Affeldt
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) What else can he really do? Dye is injured, Pods is struggling, and we lack righties on the bench. For the 4th game of the season, this is a disappointing lineup. We better hope PK comes to play today. Alright, I see what you're saying. That lineup is just horrific looking.

Sox v. Kansas City, 4/7/06, Garland v. Affeldt
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) Ozuna, LF Iguchi, 2B Thome, DH PK, 1B Crede, 3B Uribe, SS Widger, C Mackowiak, RF Anderson, CF Garland, SP I've made it a point this year not to question Ozzie. But wtf?
-
AL Central Central
Indians all over the Twins 8-3. Rowand, your Twins suck.
-
take it easy on ozzie
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) Riiiiiiiiiiiight. No one would have gotten on here and mentioned that Neal pitched two innings the prior day and that Logan got Hafner to GIDP on opening day and ripped Ozzie for using Cotts despite those facts. That is laughable. Where were you guys yesterday? lol. I could've used some back-up.

Army WBB Coach Maggie Dixon Dies

Sox v. Kansas City, 4/7/06, Garland v. Affeldt
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) Time for Garland to start shutting the mouths of those fools who say the word "Fluke" with him. Go get em JG. Word.

AL Central Central
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) What's the word on Captian Cheeseburger Sabathia? He's on the DL. He could be out as long as 5 weeks.

Eric Gagne
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 07:24 PM) The Dodgers must have know about this. That's why they traded for another closer in Danys Baez. ^^^

2006 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) I think the Tigers are going to be much improved this year. Chris Shelton is tearing the cover off of the ball so far. He has 4 homers. I could see them finishing third in the central.
-
Holy crap!
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) I know they are only part-way through today's game but so far Detroit has outscored opponents 24-1 this year. That's pretty impressive no matter who their opponent. They beat KC by scores of 3-1 and 14-3.

4/6 Games
Chris Stewart knocks in the first run of the season for the Knights.

2006 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) Fair enough, but also it could be harder in the sense that you are no longer in a zone or hot. True.

Sox Rotation?
QUOTE(whitesoxgt @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) so in ur opinion who would u pick as the best 3 pitchers we have? Our 3 best pitchers? That's tough with this staff. Stuff/talent wise it's Jose. Consistency is easily Buehrle. I guess I'll go Contreras, Buehrle, Garcia. Garcia because he has more of a proven track record over Garland and Vazquez.

take it easy on ozzie
Damn, I just got gang raped. lol. Anyway, I'm not getting excited over this. Ozzie has all my trust.
