27-8 and winning right now in the bottom of the 8th 5-3. Last year Charlotte didn't win it's 27th game until July 2nd Josh Fields is 4 for 4 with 2 HRs and 3RBIs and he's batting .351 now. Sean Tracey pitched 6.2 innings with 3ER and 4 strikeouts. Jeff Nelson is now pitching.

i agree with what you said about lopez absolutley....he was even as good in ST too...

 

as for fields just wow....hes killing the ball....i know the sox loved what they saw in him after the season last year in the instructional league, but .357 now with 8 homers...i believe thats was his 5th homer this week...hell be player of the week and probably making himself a valuable potential trading chip at teh deadline...

The general feeling is that he won't ever be great but passable at 3b. If we sign Crede long term, though, he gets moved to the OF or traded, IMO.

I think Josh Fields will be in the majors for us next year. Whether it be at LF or 3B I dont know but he will be starting for the whitesox in 07 as long as he doesnt totally tank.

Disagree 100%. Logan hasn't been bad this year. I realize he's given up some inherited runs but often times he's put out after not pitching in 10 days...rust is to be expected.

 

Once he gets lose in a game or finds his command hitters rarely square him up (ie hit him hard) and I think he's pretty solid. Lopez wouldn't pitch much at all up here either and he's proven over the long haul that he's a pretty piss poor major league pitcher.

 

Logan made a serious adjustment at a relatively young age and gets really good life on his pitches now. I have zero problem holding Logan up here. If he fails after pitching on a consistent basis, than we can send him down, but thus far I see this as a semi success (a because we haven't need to use him much and b because he hasn't been awful in the games he's pitched).

Actually, I'd assume that the Pads were in a very similar position as the White Sox over the years. Aside from a couple years back when they were moving to Petco they have been a relatively competitive team year in and year out in the NL West.

I dont really see us making any significant moves at the deadline anyways so dont think guys like Fields/Sweeney will be part of any trade. At the most we would bring in a bullpen arm but I dont really see that happening either.

So if you have a really really young kid why not have him in AAA? If either Lopez or Logan are going to pitch once every 10 days why not have the young kid in AAA and the mid-20's non-prospect on the club? If Logan actually does have a future he should be in Charlotte getting regular work, while Lopez is here. Really neither is going to have a large impact on the game, so let Boone develop and see what Javier can do.
