  1. I unfortunately won't be able to make it out that night. I will, however, have the VCR set and ready to go. All you guys' going better take some pictures or something.
  2. QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) me too....im actually high on lopez....nobody has really mentioned his 16 Ks in 12.2 IP. I think he'll be fine, especially against lefties only. Unfortunately i think thornton will make the team, but unlike just about everyone else here, im not writin thornton off quite yet, i just think he wont be as effective right now as lopez I think the most any of us could've hoped for was atleast one of these guys we brought in to step up and put the pressure on Ozzie and his staff. Lopez has been fantastic.
  3. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) The same can be said for Blum (agruably, since those games were in Houston), Everett (no other DH option), Rowand, El Duque (arguably, you never know what happens in that Boston series if he doesn't perform his magic), Thomas (the team was at its best when he played) etc. etc. etc. Give me a break. Remember when Buehrle, Garland and Garcia all started pitching like s*** at the same time? Guess who was the only one to step up? We're not even in the playoffs without Jose. And he was our best pitcher in the playoffs as well.
  4. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) No, I wouldn't, because trading him would have filled a need for the team. And even if he had another season like '05 (3.61 ERA, 15 wins), it wouldn't matter, since he's like 45 years old, and will be a FA after this year (and when he becomes one, we don't get compensation). Well, without that "45" year old, we're on 89 years without a title. And you don't trade a guy that started game 1 of the ALDS, ALCS and World Series just because. Man, I'm glad some of you guys aren't the gm.
  5. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Which is why I wanted to trade him this offseason for a good reliever and some prospects. And then you would be calling for Kenny's head if he had another '05 like season somewhere else.
  6. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) It was the first time he pitched in a game like 2+ weeks. WTF did you expect? Nope, he's done. The old Jose is back and here to stay.
  7. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) But.. he's a changed man!! There's no chance in hell he'll ever revert to his former self, which he has been for the majority of his career! Or more like 1 year outta 3.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) His contract is alright for this year. Next year, he becomes ridiculously expensive. Not if he has another season '05 like season in '06.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) Garland is pitching tomorrow. Hopefully he'll do better than his last outing when he was just abused. We should've traded him earlier when his value was at its peak.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) I thought it was crazy even considering him for a job with the major league team. But he continues to get guys out, and has earned a roster spot, no doubt about it. He's on the team as far as I'm concerned. He's done everything that could possibly be asked of him. I just hope and PRAY he can bring it to the regular season.
  11. So I take it Elvis, I mean Boone Logan had another dominant outing?
  12. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 03:41 AM) Just read through the comments posted after the article. They grudgingly accept our championship, yet continually note our "luck." I admit there were numerous lucky breaks with we were fortunate to exploit--I'd be foolish not to--but winning 99 regular season games should have given some consideration to our talent. I've said this before, and I'll say it again--anyone feeling confused by the Sox success can label our championship "lucky," but I guarantee Beane wishes he ballclub were this "lucky." Rather be the worst team within the last 15 years to win a World Series title than the best not to. The arrogance which is often evident through the writings of sabermetric fans is why we'll never be given credit. I don't dislike the advent of advanced statistics in baseball. I don't feel threatened, as Hawk or other oldtimers might. It just so happens these people are incredibly absorbed in their methods and would rather dish out plates of "luck" than reflect upon reasons why their wrong when such events occur. Although I suppose influencing Baseball Prospectus to reassess defense can be chalked up as a small success. Honestly, aside from the personal satisfaction and pride of winning another World Series, I'd like to win another to prove everyone wrong. Our players have all the motivation they could possibly need with a subcription to Baseball Prospectus. Maybe if we repeat, BP will create a new category named after the White Sox which can accurately predict luck. Excellent post.
  13. Another reason I love the tournament so much is you get to see and learn about players that you didn't really pay attention to during the regular season. How 'bout Folarin Campbell? Dude is just solid. I also didn't know how good GM was defensively.
  14. Personally, I don't want to see Sweeney anywhere near Chicago this year. He's had a fantastic spring, but I want to see him do it for a full year in the minors. We're set in the outfield for '06.
  15. I'm atleast encouraged that he hit 91. It just doesn't look like he'll ever be able to shake the pain.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) http://baseballanalysts.com/archives/2006/...ea.php#comments snip /snip Why can't it be this simple?
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 25, 2006 -> 01:40 AM) Krush and I actually talked about this for a while last night, it really is an endless debate but it seems like a very easy choice to me. They were talkin' about that on the Score earlier. Nobody could figure it out. This happens in the NBA as well.
  18. UConn must have made some kinda deal with the devil before the tourney started. I've never seen a team with that level of talent play down to their competition the way they do. Anyway, I hope George Mason takes 'em out.
  19. I must admit, I wasn't a believer in this 4-guard attack of Nova's. I just assumed they would run into a bigger, more physical team in the tournament and get exposed. Yet here they are one win away from Indy. I expect them to take down Florida Sunday.
  20. Gotta stick with UConn.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) Hermy gives up a walk and double in 1 IP. 3-1 Ms. I'm predicting a 10 page thread on how Hermanson is done and should retire immediately.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Uribe singled, Anderson walked, and ..... I think ...... Scott singled in the run. Thanks
  23. It's 2-1 now. I don't know how the Sox scored.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 24, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) I'm confident that some pitcher we have confidence in will be a huge disappointment, and some pitcher that we never thought would contribute will be a huge part of our bullpen. I knew you were a closet Matt Thornton fan.
