Game Thread 3/21: White Sox vs. Padres
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Yes, but he still pitched like absolute crap after the error... Alright then. I wasn't gonna get excited one way or another based on what happened today. So is his stuff as good as advertised? How was his velocity?

Can somebody break down Thorton's outing?

AJ on Fire
Looks like Anderson had another good one today. Spring average is over .300 now.

Game Thread 3/21: White Sox vs. Padres
So I take it Thorton didn't look too good? Does he get out of the inning unscathed if Uribe doesn't make the error?

Williams, Cooper coveted Thornton
So what does Thornton throw besides the fastball?

Yankees at #2?

Williams, Cooper coveted Thornton
I'm not doubting Coop at all. I just wish he had a little more time than he has now to work with the guy. It's gonna be interesting to see Thornton pitch today.

AJ on Fire
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) I know it is only Spring Training, but it is nice to see AJ hitting so well. 4 multi-hit games out of 8 total, 6 for his last 10 and only 2 K's in 23 AB's. It would be nice to see him get back to batting .300. AJ has never really been that good in Spring Training, he batted .222 last ST, .255 in 2004, .216 in 2003, and .224 in 2002, so hopefully this is a sign of things to come. He is currently batting .478. How bout' Brian Anderson? Spring average up to .290 or so. He's looked a lot better at the plate than he did the first couple weeks.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) Remember Conteras was also listed as garbage. His mechanical flaw was fixed. This after having the Yanks go to all sorts of extremes to get his head and his mechanics fixed. Sometimes a change of scenery and the right coach can fix things like this. If KW was truly after this guy for a few years based on Coop being convinced he can fix a mechanical flaw, then I say maybe he has the inside info. I like your optimism. I hope you're right.

Big Ten Basketball
QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 21, 2006 -> 12:46 AM) The big 10 will have a tough year next year...The big 12 is on the up. KU, OU, OSU,Texas, Texas A&M and Baylor, yes Baylor will be pretty good. OSU should be one of the top 5-10 teams in the country. You're right about the rest of the conference.

Big Ten Basketball
Pat Forded on the not so BIG TEN. Harsh, but true.

Injury updates: Contreras, Hermanson, Pods, Thome
QUOTE(quickman @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) I met Jim yesterday in tucson. He was here with his brother and father and we sat next to him while watching the Bradley game. He is fine. Very encouraged at how many whitesox fans come to spring training and recognize him. he is very humble and what I would consider a great pro. Good to hear, quick.

The official Soxtalk 2006 predictions thread
QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) You realize he sucked while wearing a White Sox jersey too.. right? Yeah, he sucked for that whole month of September in '04. That's it. I'm still not worried about him.

QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) Yea, its not like he's ever done that before :rolly You're still stuck on the Yankees version of Contreras? That guy doesn't even exist to me.

What in your opinion is more successful?
I'd rather make the tourney every time.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) How the hell did this thread get to 13 pages? It's Thortonmania I tell you.

Scotty Pods Update
Extremely good news.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
It's funny how Mariners fans feel the exact same way about Thorton as Sox fans feel about Borchard.

Oakland Regional
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) I'd take him in a heart beat. Not over Aldridge. I assume he's still coming out.

Oakland Regional
QUOTE(UC76 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) Bradley's O'Bryant is the shizzle. He's only a sophomore, but when he comes out I wouldn't mind seeing Bulls give him a shot. They could use a 7-footer with some skills. No thanks.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) Well, im still hoping for a deal to get done, but I just am getting to vibe nothing is going to go down prior to the season starting. Lets hope Boone,Thorton, and the rest of the bunch can at least be servicable till the All Star Break..... That's the best we can hope for. In the meantime, I'm hoping guys like Owens, Sweeney, Valido and Fields rip apart the minor leagues the way they have spring training. We're gonna need some healthy trade assets come July.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) Hey, man, did you watch the playoffs? They give us 9 a night, every night. Bullpens are for pussies. I like the way you think.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) I haven't waded through the 10 pages, but are there people who are outraged at this deal? Joe. B. had little to no value. He'll be lucky to be a 4th OFer somewhere. I'm suprised they even got Thornton. This is basically trying to get something from nothing. A LHP who can throw 93-98 is at least something. Seems like some people, for whatever reason, are upset that Gload is pretty much a lock to make the team more than anything.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) The price of just decent relievers is probably through the roof right now. I don't see us getting anyone good -- maybe another team's mediocre cast-offs when they make their roster cuts. Agreed. I see us going with what we've got for now. It's really gonna be on the starters to get us 7 solid innings a night.

Joe Borchard Traded to Seattle
I'll give Kenny the benefit of the doubt on this one. I thought this was a case of the Sox basically taking whatever they could get for Borchard. But it seems as if Kenny has had his eyes on this guy for a while.
