  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) Sweeney crushed a HR to right. 3-1 Sox. WOW!
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) Not sure. Alright. Just keep us updated. I apperciate it.
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) Lopez with a scoreless inning. The submarine/sidearm action must be fooling hitters. I love it. Is he gonna come back for another inning?
  4. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Is this our first lead of the spring? Second. We were up 1-0 yesterday.
  5. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Javier Lopez just struck out Helton with a slider.
  6. It's about time. Keep us updated on Lopez everyone.
  7. I'm in. The name is Jigsaw.
  8. QUOTE(LEXNLIV @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) Quick question. Ozzie has gone on record as saying that noneo f the leftys have been aggressive enough or has impressed him very much. Arnie Munoz ( to the best of my knowledge) has pitched 1 inning so far this spring and struck out 2 guys. I know Munoz has been very spotty during his carrer,, but has flashed some good potential at times in the minors, as well as being decent out of the pen a couple of times in the majors. My question is this. Does Ozzie have something against Munoz, or has he pre-determined that he just cant help the big club? I don't think Ozzie has anything against him. He's just wants him to step up and be aggressive. Munoz is gonna get every oppurtunity to prove he can get the job done. If he's not on the team come April, it will be because he sucked.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) Adding in Castillo won't hurt, getting back Torii Hunter won't hurt, and another year on the backs of Mauer and Morneau won't hurt. None of those guarantee to be enough. But if all goes well, it could very well be enough. They were only 53 runs behind us, for example. The keys are obviously Mauer and Morneau. Totally forgot about the Castillo addition. Hunter will help. I just don't see them being that much better than last year.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 01:43 AM) To many people here are just counting out the Twins. Bad, bad idea. I'm not really counting them out. But what did they do to upgrade their pathetic offense of a year ago?
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) 1-0 Rox on a bloop single I think. Into the 5th... Hermanson gave up the run?
  12. Jon has had an extremely solid spring so far.
  13. Props to whoever Alenxander's agent is. 8 years for a guy that's already 30?
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 01:49 AM) Little suprised to see Reynoso not give up an ER yet, albeit he's only pitched 2 innings. He came damn close yesterday. I know the boxscore says he pitched a scoreless inning. But he came dangerously close to giving up atleast 3 runs.
  15. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 01:45 AM) I still think though Minny's pitching is a bigger difference than what Detroit's offense will be. Maggs never hits well at Comerica, Pudge was terrible, Nook Logan could still be a starter, Carlos Guillen is terribly injury prone etc. there's still a lot of what's ifs with that offense. At least with Minny's rotation you know Santana and Radke are going to bring it, Silva will be a pretty good #3, Lohse may improve, and Baker / Liriano would be very nice #5 starters. Also can we get Dimitri Young's thoughts on what way he sees the AL Central going this season? Oh, yeah, a lot would have to go right for the Tigers for that to happen. I just think it's in the realm of possibility. This is gonna be a fun year in the central.
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 01:31 AM) I don't think we should trade possible Cy Young candidates willy nilly anymore than you do, but he's excellent trade bait, especially after last season. We could give up Garland, who I think is our weakest starter (except for possibly Vazquez) or we could trade Javy. There are a variety of possibilities. And, Mack might not be an everyday player, but playing the DH wouldn't be that bad for him. At other times, Gload or...heh, Borchard could spell him at DH so he could rest. But even if Thome were injured and all we did was make Mack into our DH, I don't think the winds would shift in Chicago. Garland and Vazquez are both young and locked up for the next 3 years. No way Kenny would consider trading either one of them. It would be Contreras. And I agree that Mack would be a decent replacement in the short term. But he's not even close to being a suitable long term solution. Let's just hope that Jim is healthy, smashes 40-45 bombs and knocks in 110 runs. That would make this conversation moot.
  17. This is a big game for Munoz and Lopez. They have a shot to really seperate themsevles from the pack.
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) Yes, we very well could trade Contreras. But I'm nowhere near as concerned about Thome as so many others, since I take the position that Rob Mack could take over for him reasonably well, all things considered, and that the world wouldn't collapse. I'm not concerned with him, either. I have total faith and trust in Kenny and his people. They wouldn't even consider the trade if they didn't think he was 100% healthy. However, if something unfortunate were to happen, we'd be in deep dog s***. Mack is not an everyday player. And starting him everyday would considerably weaken the bench. Our best and only real trade chip would be Contreras. And quite honestly, I'm totally against trading a guy that could legitimately win the Cy-Young.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) I see the well made points about the Tigers that the Sox were finished to pick 4th last year. But the Tigers dont' have NEARLY the pitching we do. The Tigers have no shot of finishing ahead of us or Cleveland, and I think the Minnesota pitching will be too much for them to not finish ahead of Detroit. I agree. The Sox and Indians are clearly the class of the division. However, I could see the Tigers possibly finishing ahead of the Twins. The Twins' offense is very suspect.
  20. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) Maybe with a broken nail? No way. There's always the option of trading. But we've got players that could supplement our offense adequately, if not exponentially. Trade what? We traded two of our top pitching prospects just to get Thome. We don't have anywhere near the same depth in the minors this year. Unless you're talking about trading a guy like Contreras.
  21. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) This was from Scott Reifert's Blog talking about Sunday (but I think he meant Monday), and it matches most of the info from SSH2005's link. So yes, Munoz and Lopez will pitch. Also: Thanks. I find the Ozzie comments interesting. The season begins Monday? Doesn't sound like to me that this is a guy that minds getting his brains beat in everyday simply because the games don't count.
  22. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) Play nice kids What fun is that? Let them fight.
  23. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) Nobody's guaranteed anything, of course, but the White Sox are in good shape this year. If Thome doesn't produce, he can be replaced by Mac, who of course isn't as good as a healthy, younger Thome but he wouldn't be the death of our team. I feel good about our team, and I don't think Cleveland's as strong as people make them out to be. If Thome doesn't produce, we're screwed.
  24. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) I still say count me in on Detroit sucking again. I just don't like the makeup of the team at all. I still say the Tigers finish in last place, with the Royals finishing in 4th with 70+ wins. Unless George Brett, Danny Tartabull and pre-hip problem Bo Jackson are coming back to KC this year, no way in hell they finish above the Tigers. Kenny Rogers, Jeremy Bonderman, Mike Maroth, Nate Robertson and Justin Verlander is CONSIDERABLY better than whatever crap the Royals are gonna march out to the mound. Their bullpen is nothing to laugh at, either. Todd Jones should only make them better. Offensively, if Maggs and Guillen are healthy, that's 5-10 wins more right there. Monroe, Granderson, Inge, Polanco and Shelton are all solid to very good. Then there's that Pudge guy. He had an off year last year. But if he can repeat what he did just a couple seasons ago, combined, of course, with Maggs and Guillen staying healthy, they're atleast a .500 team.
  25. Does anybody know if Munoz or Lopez is scheduled to pitch in this one?
