Glitter jailed for 3 years.
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) I was hoping she mean the movie. Anybody who was a part of that disaster should be jailed for life.

Lefties Boone Logan & Heath Phillips to get a shot
I'm certainly not gonna get excited about some "B" game performance. These guys are no more proven than the guys that we brought in.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 10:14 PM) Dotel, when healthy but he's not 100% yet. Myers can own lefties. Farnsworth is too much of a headcase to be consistent. I doubt he'll be 100% if/when he does come back.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) Don't let the magic of 2005 wear into this year. The Sox are a good team, but they still have to beat Cleveland and Minnesota before they even have a chance at the playoffs. A year of experience and heartbreak is only going to mean Cleveland will be hungrier this year, and the Twins are still going to be scrappy as hell, cuz that's just who they are. If both stay healthy, they are 90 win teams. No doubt about it. The central is as good as any division in baseball this season. It's gonna be a dogfight just to get back to the playoffs. I'm fairly certain (although I'd love to be wrong) that we won't have a 15 game cushion to work with this time around.

Keep it going, Josh.

QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) Good points. Pitching does win championships, but its not like yankees just throw out duds. They have a great bullpen, with pretty decent starters. Their hitting is out of this world tho, with a better option (damon) in centerfied it fix's their one problem on the offensive side, plus helps a Little on defense. I expect the yankees to make it to the ALCS, and would love to sweep them considering I dont like them. There's nothing great about their bullpen outside of Rivera. They're gonna miss Tom Gordon.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) Game 1 - NYY 4 LAA 2 Game 2 - NYY 3 LAA 5 Game 3 - LAA 11 NYY 7 Game 4 - LAA 2 NYY 3 Game 5 - NYY 3 LAA 5 Not sure I'd say Anaheim had no problem whatsoever scoring runs. They hit the s*** out of the ball in game 3, but aside from that, I see no huge run totals. And fwiw, I didn't say the Sox would have lost to New York - I just thought Anaheim provided a better matchup. That's the same exact reason I wanted Houston over St. Louis - while Houston had the better pitching staff, their offense was not nearly as strong as St. Louis' was. Thus, again, a better matchup. Fair enough.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) Yankees pitching >>> Boston's When your game 1 starter is Matt Clement, you are fistf***ed from the beginning. Yet the Angels had no problems scoring runs against their pitching. Why would the Sox have?

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Had the Sox played the Yanks, it could have been a different result. The Sox are a team that allows quite a few homers, both home and away. The Yankees hit a lot of homers. That could have been disaster. Not only what was said above, but the Angels didn't have Colon - and it was pretty apparent at the end of the ALDS, they wouldn't have him for the ALCS either. The Sox matched up much better with the Angels, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Last year was friggin destiny - every little piece fell into the exact right spots, and the Sox made themselves look like a team that couldn't be beaten. Boston's offense was just as good if not better. The Yankees would've suffered the same fate they did.

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) Good point Yankees will go to the playoffs no doubt and knowing steinbrenner if they have pitching problems hes willin to make a trade. You cant call them out now. Hard to make trades when you don't have anything anybody wants.

QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) But there hitting is just... unbeliavable. I could have their hitting as my fantasy team in a 12 team league, and be happy. They'll score 900 runs or so. But, in the playoffs, they'll be exposed.

Uribe, 'El Capitan'
QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) Yep. Dude could hit .220 for the rest of his career and I'd still want him in the lineup every day. I wouldn't go that far.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) Starters: Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina, Chacon, Pavano, and Wang. Bullpen: Rivera, Farnsworth, Wright, Myers, Villone, Small, Sturtze. I certainly think they have a good chance to get to the World Series this year. Too many question marks and health concerns.

Prior's debut still on hold
QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 07:35 AM) This is beyond ridiculous. The Cubs have such a reputation for lying about injuries, you can't believe a single word they say. I can see it now: Mark Prior's Right Arm Found Behind A Cactus "We Expect Him To Miss Maybe One Start" - Baker

One of my all-time favorite players. I pray he's alright. I didn't know he and Torii were so close.

Great article on KW
This is why I love Kenny. I seriously can't think of any gm that cares more than he does.

How anybody can think the Yankees have a legitimate chance to get to the World Series with that staff is beyond help.

Second lefty update
Randolph with a brutal outing today. Alamanza threw the ball pretty well. Reynoso pitched a scoreless inning, but he wasn't very sharp at all. Gave up a single, hit a batter and just missed giving up a two run bomb.

Sox @ Diamondbacks 2:05pm
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) It's hard to tell when there's still people complaining during a competitive game. I undertstand there can be some to complain about in a game like yesterday, but seriously you've got to draw the line. It's SPRING TRAINING. For the starters, a lot of this is going through the motions and getting ready to go come April; that's why I don't understand complaining too much about them. Maybe some of you need to be reminded, but Spring Training is really only for the people trying to get that final roster spot. Judge them all you want. I could care less if we lose all 30 something ST games. That's not what it's about. My problem with the starters to this point is the lack of patience at the plate. I know it's just spring. I'm not stressing out over it. But there were atleast 3 innings where a Dbacks pitcher threw 5 pitches or less to get 3 outs. That's happened way too much so far. As I said, I'm not stressing over it. I just hope things change as we go along.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Since when did the record matter in Spring Training? Some of you guys need to check yourselves. If you guys are this bad already, I can't wait to see how f***ed up PHT is during the season. Who? I'm not sitting here panicking. The team has just played some really bad baseball so far. I'll be more worried if they're playing the same way 3 weeks from now.

I'm really dissapointed in Tracey's performance today. I'm not gonna give up on him yet, though.

Sox @ Diamondbacks 2:05pm
The "prospects" did well today. Valido and Fields were pretty much the offense. The pitching was good outside of Randolph and Tracey. Jose was really sharp. Will get em tomorrow.
