  1. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) Disagree. Back to the pitcher is a double play. If you look, Iguchi doesn't protect himself by using the bag. As a result, he gets his leg taken out, and that was the reason for the errant throw. If he has proper mechanics on turning the DP, he's out at first. We make one of 2 plays that inning, the other being crede's 'hold', we are still playing. I don't think the ball was hit hard enough. And Vlad runs pretty well. At best, it would've been very, very close, even if Tad gets a perfect throw off.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) This could have been the worst game we've played all season as far as execution goes. This team was flat and looked like crap. That being said I'm still very, very confident, just got to right the ship starting tomorrow. Exactly. Anybody throwing in the towel after one game in a 7 game playoff is flat out stupid. We're gonna find out what kinda heart this team has tomorrow night. I expect Buehrle to get it done. And I expect a much better showing from the offense tonight. Go Sox!
  3. I still think he should've came home instead of trying to get a double play they had no shot at in the 3rd inning. But besides that. he was outstanding. He gave the team every oppurtunity to get back in the game. That split was making some damn good hitters look like little leaguers.
  4. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) The White Sox had there chances. Not much else you can say here. Go get em' tommorow... That pretty much sums it up. Horrible, horrible fundamental baseball tonight.
  5. Dye has run hot and cold all year. There's no inbetween with him. Hopefully another hot streak is on the horizon. Because he's done next to nothing in 4 playoff games so far.
  6. We failed to get to Byrd early. Once you let any pitcher get in a rhythm, no matter who it is, it's gonna be tough. But even with that, we had some chances to do some damage. We executed horribly.
  7. I'm not panicking at all. I'm very dissapointed by how flat we looked tonight. I'm also dissapointed with the horrible, horrible execution.
  8. We deserved to lose this one. Horrible executed game all night. We looked like a bunch of Virgin's on prom night.
  9. This is sad news indeed. I would never hope or be greatful for an injury to a key player, even if it helps the Sox. But this no doubt gives the Sox a HUGE advantage in this series. We have to take advantage.
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 02:20 AM) Ok so JC's on the hill, you know the deal there, been our best pitcher in the 2nd half. In 2 games against the Angels this season, 0-1 with a 3.46 ERA, but a good stat here, only a .188 BAA. So they had trouble hitting him this season. Now as for Paul Byrd, in the 1 game he pitched against us, he won, but gave up 5ER in 6IP with 2HR's. Other good news, he's worse in night games, with his ERA .3 higher than in day games. Unfortunately lefties hit him way better, so the likes of Pods, A.J and Carl are going to have to produce for us. He's also terrible with RISP with 2 outs, so hopefully we get that situation to arise quite a bit. Byrd also has a G/F ratio of 0.89, another good sign for us since at the Cell we'll have plenty of chances to hit the long ball against him. I luv your research.
  11. Nice post, Yasny. I won't even pretend that I've never gotten pissed off or questioned some of the moves made by Ozzie this year. I feel I have that right as a fan. That's all. I know I'm no expert. I also realize beyond a shadow of a doubt that Ozzie knows MUCH, MUCH more about the game than I do. But I don't think it's so wrong to give imput as a fan to what Ozzie is or isn't doing. Now as far as the personal attacks on Ozzie, you're totally right. That kinda stuff is just stupid and really uncalled for.
  12. Jim Caple also picks the Sox in 5. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2005..._jim&id=2186974
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) Best there is out there... http://www.angelsbaseball.us/ Thanks, Qwerty.
  14. Anybody know of any good Angels message boards? I just want to get their perspective on the series.
  15. The only prediction that matters is mine. White Sox in 5!
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) Trust me, the Angels aren't gonna be tired from jet lag. Maybe if it were a regular season game, but no team is gonna be tired for a post-season game. Adrenaline is all the energy they need. I guarantee you that will be the excuse if we win game 1.
  17. Chone Figgnins. The Yankees did a good job of keeping him under wraps. He's our Podsednik. We have to keep him off the basepaths. Second, don't let Vlade beat us. I don't care what the situation is. Make anybody besides Vlad beat us.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) Its not going to be that easy. Don't ever count the Angels out though. They are a good team that can manufacture runs and Byrd could battle. Shields didn't pitch tonight so he's available and Krod is available as well. Anything can happen and the Sox may be a little rusty. I hope the Sox can get rolling early cause in a close game the Angels will be really tough to beat (especially with Contreras on the mound, simply because the Angels can run all day on him). Hopefully Jose C just flat limits the baserunners and picks up his 2nd postseason win of the season!!!! I didn't say it was a lock. I just said there's no reason we shouldn't win game one. I'm not taking the Angels lightly one bit. I actually wanted to play the Yankees before Bartolo got hurt.
  19. QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) Lackey 2-0, 2.57 ERA vs. CHW in 2005 Santana 1-0, 0.00 ERA vs. CHW in 2005 Byrd 1-0, 7.50 ERA vs. CHW in 2005 I guess those 4 guys do have enough to win a 7 game series. Don't think it won't be tough against the Angels. They run well, and AJ has a tough time throwing people out. They pitch well, and the Sox have been known to have hitting problems. They make it a 7-inning game with Shields and K-Rod at the back end of their bullpen. The Sox have their hands full. There's a reason why the Angels won the season series 6-4. They are very, very good. Nobody is saying it's gonna be easy. But with Barolo's status up in the air, combined with the brutal travel schedule the Angels will have endured, and the fact we're a totally different team than the one they swept last month, I'd say we're in good shape.
  20. No reason at all we shouldn't win game 1. The Angels have had to go from NY to California and now to Chicago all in a span of 3 days. Their pitching staff should be spent.
  21. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) Colon threw just 23 pitches. Santana just 85. These guys will be well-rested soon enough. The Angels are headed for the World Series. They're headed for the World Series? Was that meant to be in green?
  22. 4-2 Angels
  23. Angels with runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs.
  24. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) the funny thing is : this season if you remember the first 40-60 games or so we were getting all the good breaks - vlad was injured, roy halladay was injured, torii hunter was injured, and there was a list of players on teams we were playing who got injured before playing us this is our year? i think yes ! And those teams got a break with us losing Frank Thomas for the year.
  25. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) well, traveling is not pretty. and whoever wins has to come back 2/3's of the way across the country. man, i hope JC's ready tomorrow. I have no doubt he'll be ready.
