NBA Finals Thread
LMAO. That s*** is awesome. I almost spit up my water lookin at that. God, it's nice to see the Lakers get f***in clobbered like this. Congrads to all the Pistons fans on the board. This feels almost as good as the Cubs collapse against the Marlins last year. ALMOST

Kobe guarantees win in game 5
Wow. That was total domination by the, Pistons. The rape show is now officially CLOSED.
-
borchard
If you read the post I said "granted he's having a good year this year".. But before this year he's been either hr or strikeout.
-
Prior vs Clemens
LOL..What else is new. Disagree with the great Brando and he starts with the "f*** you". Am I gettin under your "Cub" lovin skin? Why don't you take your old lame ass to northsidebaseball.com and stop posin as a Sox fan. You're not foolin anybody. And by the way. f*** YOU TOO. BIATCHHHHHHHHHHH :finger

borchard
Maybe i'm wrong. I just don't wanna see an Adam Dunn type of player. Granted Dunn is having a pretty good year this season. But, in the past it's either been Hr or strikeout. But, oh well. It's put up or shut up time I guess. Either trade him or give him a chance to produce.

White Sox
Sorry. I don't know why the answers r messed up like that.

borchard
I see what you're saying. But, is it that much to ask of a guy with so called "superstar" potential to hit .300 at triple a? Just once?
-
Olivo
I think without a doubt that Olivo, becaomes the everyday catcher. The guy has a world of talent. His offense this year compared to last year is like night and day. He's got a cannon for an arm. His game calling is improving. He's FAST AS HELL for a catcher. I love the guy. No need to look for any other catcher. Unless you're talkin about somebody like, Piazza

White Sox
I'm goin with this years. But, just barely. I absolutely love Harris and Uribe at the top of the line-up. Power wise we're similiar. It's so close.
-
White Sox
I think this is a very good question. I think we scored 978 runs in 2000. We're on a similiar pace this year. This is a tough one for me. Let me know what you guys think.

Go after Ugueth Urbina???
Urbina is decent. I'd no doubt prefer to explore other options first. He did do a pretty good job for the Marlins in the post-season last year.

Time to spin the roulette wheel again...
I wouldn't mind seeing Diaz again. You can pretty much throw out his 1st start, due to the fact he was pretty much set up to fail. Grilli is another guy I wouldn't mind seeing. And as much as some would disagree. Why not give Rauch another shot? He's pitched well since being sent down. And really, other than 1 inning he wasn't that bad. Sure they hit him hard. Maybe he'll make some adjustments.
-
Olivo
I never even really noticed. You make some good points. But, like somebody said earlier. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Our pitching has been quite fine regardless of who the catcher is. This is more than likely Sandy's last year anyways. Meaning Olivo, will have the starting catching spot locked up for the next 5-7 years.

Here's someone who's not too fond of what
Just win baby. That's the name of the game. You win, they'll come. It's sad. because you've got your lowlife, filthy bandwagoners that will show up. But, if it helps the organazation put a better product on the field, so be it.

Classless to Classy
Too much was made of this indicent. He didn't "take" the ball away from the kid. He "unintentionally" knocked him outta the way to get the ball. Should he have given the kid the ball? Probably. But, lets not act like this guy is some kinda child abuser or monster. I hate when people take s*** that's not that big and BLOW it up.

Jordan Tribute
Sure buddy :finger . I'll respond to what I feel like respondin 2. I didn't feel like havin to respond to 8 different quotes at that time.

Whitesox History
It just amazes me the difference in hr and rbi totals then and now.

borchard
I personally don't wanna see Borchard up until he gets his average at or above .300.

Prior vs Clemens
Oh yeah. As far as your if they had had Lofton and Ramirez all year. Did u forget that they only reason they traded for Lofton was because PATTERSON GOT HURT. Lofton basically filled in for a guy that was having an all-star caliber year. There goes that argument. As far as, Ramirez goes? He was no doubt an upgrade. But he wasn't even in the top 10 as far as reasons why the Cubs won that divison.

Prior vs Clemens
Ok..1st of all. You need to stop with this lame ass "the only way to stop the Cubs is to hope they have a bunch of injuries". That's just retarded right there. I'm not gonna wish injuries on ANYBODY. As far as Prior missing a month. The Cubs still had Wood, Zambrano, and Clement to hold down the fort. Other than Wade Miller, Who did the Astro's have last year? Oswalt missing 10-15 starts was critical and was no doubt the difference in the Cubs winning the division. As far as Sosa goes they more then held their own while he was out. I'm not sure what their record was but I know it was over. 500. The Cubs were a whopping 3 gms above .500 going into September. They end up 14 gms over. With a schedule that consisted basically of the Reds, Pirates, and Brewers. Just coincidence? I didn't think so. The nl central was flat out bad. The Marlins won 91 gms as a wild card. That's all you really need to know. As far as the Cubs and Marlins series goes. I could care less about Bartman, Gonzalez, Harry Carry, God, the goat or whatever. They blew a 3-1 lead with the last 2 gms at home. They CHOKED. End of story. They're not the 1st team to CHOKE and they won't be the last. But, bottomline is they CHOKED As far as them being better in 2004. I'll take a wait and see approach. YOu can blame the Cub injuies all you want. They've lost a s***load of gms they could've won regardless of injuries. And by the way. NO TEAM IN THE LEAGUE HAS HAD AS MANY INURIES AS THE ANGELS. And until just recently. They were in 1st place.

Greatness resides in Chi town baby.....
lol..I remember..Kerr was like "Michael said in his commericial that he's missed the gm winning shot 26 times, so lets go to, Steve". Man, those were the f***in days. I don't think we really apperciated and realized how lucky we were during that time.

Greatness resides in Chi town baby.....
I've got that entire 1996 season on tape. I recorded every game. I knew that was gonna be a special year. I knew MJ was just gonna murder everybody after a dissapointing playoffs in 1995. We got the best rebounder on the planet for WILL PERDUE. Pip was still in his prime. We had the right role players. Everything just came together so beautifully for that team. I like how that dude pointed out that we beat not one but TWO 60 win teams en route to the title. While the 87 Lakers beat nothing but crappy teams save Boston.

Kobe guarantees win in game 5
I'm not gonna lie. I'm the world biggest Laker hater. I despise them. But, even in looking at this series as just a fan. I don't see anyway the Lakers can win. They don't have any scoring outside of Shaq and Kobe. Malone is hurt. Payton flat out sucks. Their role players remind me of the 1999 Bulls. Add to that the Pistons r gaining more and more confidence by the day. They now KNOW they're better than the Lakers. I predict a 15 point Pistons win in gm 5.
-
Prior vs Clemens
I agree with everything you just said..Props man!!!

Prior vs Clemens
The 1986 Red Sox were ONE OUT away from a WORLD SERIES TITLE against the Mets and they LOST. Them gettin that close didn't mean a damn thing for them in 1987, DID IT? I don't care that the Cubs were 5 outs away from a world series, THEY LOST. As far as their off-season additions, that's all fine and dandy. The Cubs aren't the only team to make decent off-season additions. It doesn't guranteee a damn thing though. As far as the Cubs winning 90 gms. That's false. They won 88 to be exact. 3 less than the WILD card Marlins. Proving that they took advantage of a WEAK division. Not to forget that they were aided by a sissy, cupcake schedule the last 3 and a half weeks of the season that consisted of the Pirates, Reds, and Brewers. You could make a damn good argument that if Roy Oswalt had been healthy and made 30 plus starts that they and not the Cubs would have won the central last year. Lets not forget the Cubs won the division by ONE GAME. Even with all that said i'm not saying the Cubs don't have the potential to be really good. But, seeing is believing. There's not one team in the national league that anybody can say is a powerhouse right now. You may say the Cubs have had a lot of injuries, and that's true. But, if you're into the Cubs as much as you seem you would know that they've lost a lot of gms they could've won regardless of the injuries due to mainly the inabilty to come through in clutch rbi situations. Something that the really good teams do 80-85% of the time. When the Cubs get 15-20 gms above .500 then you can come back and tell me how wrong I was for not giving them as much credit as you think they deserve.
