  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) Richie Zisk Where are they now? Richie Zisk is the hitting coach for the Daytona Cubs.
  2. Kelly Dransfeldt now works as a stock portfolio advisor and gives market reports in Morris.
  3. Last night's game was so frustrating. It seemed like after Teahen's second error, all the fight went out of the team. That being said, finishing 8-2 on this road trip would be great. Being 5 games out is daunting, but you have to figure the Twins will lose a game or two soon.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) But being banned, now that is f***ing hilarious. Well, that didn't take long!
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 09:05 AM) Do your magic Gavin! An 8-2 road trip is nothing to sneeze about True, especially considering a sweep of the BoSox. We were spoiled by the sweep of Cleveland and Boston, so we were expecing the Sox to handle Detroit better. Regardless, 8-2 on a road trip is good. It's just a shame the damn Twins won't lose.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 08:45 AM) No, I don't think Sale will be in the rotation next year. I think KW knows that he can't go into the regular season next year with only 5 starters and count on a rookie to be 1 of them and Peavy to be another. The last few years, he's tried repeatedly to be 6 deep in the rotation, and every time he winds up needing that 6th guy somewhere. I think Sale likely starts in Charlotte next year unless they just throw in the towel and put him in the bullpen permanently. I would hope they groom Sale to be a starter. Having him begin in AAA next season is not a bad idea. His last outing, which was 2+ innings I think, he dropped his velocity a bit and his breaking stuff was just as good. I heard the announcers say that if and when he becomes a starter, we won't see his high 90's stuff regularly. With his slider, a 93-95 mph fastball should be fine.
  7. Yeah, things are not looking good. But, I still expect this race to come down to the last week of the season. Minnesota will lose a few games, and hopefully 2 or 3 are against the Sox. To be honest, I think it will be very tough to catch up to the Twins, but I won't stop cheering for them.
  8. Hopefully the Sox will win today...to hell with that. The Sox will win today. And, the Twins can't win today. 12:05 first pitch. Morel starting today!

Terriers was pretty good. Looks like it will be a solid show.
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 03:47 AM) I wasn't able to watch last two games, in the catch-all thread I read Morel is to start tomorrow. What happened last night? More Teahen defensive problems? Nauseatingly bad defense. He made two bad errors, the second of which led to four runs. I didn't realize he was that bad, but now I do. Both plays were pretty easy. Vizquel could have made them while blindfolded and having a conversation with Alexei. Even Viciedo would have had no problem.
  11. If you were the manager, would you have sent a message and put Morel in, telling Teahen to sit his horrible defensive ass down? After that second error (which led to 4 runs), I wouldn't have hesitated.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) You realize Brent Lillibridge, Omar Vizquel, and Juan Pierre are on this team right? They may be the weakest trio of players on any team. Morel will be fine. He may not be strong enough for 3B, but he will save so many runs fielding, and makes such good contact that he may not hit 20 HR, but he will probably hit over .275 each year with stellar D. I'll gladly take that. That's LilliBomb! I would hope you're right about Morel. .275, good D, and a handful of HRs? I'll take it.
  13. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) Manny is going to keep walking until he has protection. Teahen is not good protection. True. He's not going to get a good pitch to hit.
  14. Okay, Paul. Now let's go Manny.
  15. Omar should go talk with Manny, talk about that power.
  16. He got every stitch of that ball.
  17. Alright how about some damn offense.
  18. Thanks to SoxTalk and a lot of the well-informed posters, I know more about the minors this year than ever before. And it's frustrating knowing we don't have a deep system.
  19. With offense like today, Danks had better pitch a gem.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) Well, Viciedo has to play somewhere on the big league team or KW really screwed up not trading him when his value was huge at the deadline. Count me off the Morel bandwagon...I don't think he's strong enough to hit in the majors. I only saw his one at bat yesterday, and he didn't look great. Are his numbers low in the minors?
