  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 01:20 PM) Who gives a s*** which arm he uses?! He can't get anyone out. Post of the thread.

    Summer Drinks

    Three Olives makes some decent flavored vodka. I like their grape vodka mixed into sparkling lemonade. Good stuff.
  3. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 10:58 AM) So the consensus seems to be "Ozzie deserves no credit for players performing, but plenty of blame when things go wrong" Well, that makes us sound like a bunch of asses. The Sox won the other day when Ozzie sat Rios and Konerko despite the lineup. The pitching won that game, that's it. I'll give Ozzie credit for putting Omar in as a defensive replacement and inserting him in the ninth spot. The Sox have been on a tear as of late for several reasons: 1) Playing some bad NL teams 2) The starting pitching has been great...like it should be 3) There's been some timely hitting Ozzie doesn't deserve all the blame for the bad stuff, but he certainly doesn't deserve a lot of credit for the recent winning.
  4. From what I saw of Adam Dunn, he's not nearly as good a defensive 1st baseman as Konerko. However, having him the lineup as a DH would be very nice.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 06:25 AM) I'm really not a Pierre basher, but your info is incorrect. Juan Pierre has a .315 OBP. The last 28 days his OBP is .314 with a .213 BA. He hasn't turned it around. He had a hot streak, then a cold one. He hasn't been good this year. A leadoff hitter has to do better than he's doing. Shoulda done my homework. Yeah, he sucks. I love breaking down stats, and I took the time to check out a break down of Pierre (which I admittedly did not do before my previous post). You're right about his performance in the last 28 days, however in June he's hitting .258 with an OBP of .347. Still not great, but okay. And looking at this, I would tend to agree that he is streaky. What I was getting at with my previous post (and this one) is that Pierre is not this team's biggest problem, and there is no way that he becomes a $7 million bench guy. Everytime I see a post talking about acquiring a power hitter that is an OFer and sending Pierre to the bench, I just roll my eyes. Yes, I think a lead-off guy has to be better, but the Sox don't have a better option right now. Should they roll Kotsay out there again, or how about Jones?
  6. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 11:15 PM) ilsjgiosdjoigjsdoijsld joiwjeoiewj Dear Lord, it's contagious!
  7. I think Juan Pierre could hit .750 with a bunch of RBIs and a ton of stolen bases, and there would still be tons of hate towards him. The guy had a very poor start but has turned it around over the last month+. He's getting on base more, and is usually stealing when he does. He will not have many RBIs, will probably not hit a HR, but that's okay. His defense has been much better than average in LF as well. That being said, he's not going anywhere, and there's no way he becomes a bench player. If the Sox acquire a lefty power hitter who is an outfielder, I don't see Juan losing much playing time. He's doing what he's supposed to be doing as a lead-off guy. I'd like to see his BA up more, and I think it'll happen. We can complain all day about the trade to acquire him or what he gets paid, but it doesn't change anything.
  8. Disney World, leaving the 4th of July. I know the kids will love it.
  9. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) I just got back yesterday from Hatteras, NC. Stopped on the way back to catch the sox in D.C. Had a great time. I used to live on the Outer Banks. My parents still do. I love that area.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) Is Viciedo the big bat we need? Can CQ start f***ing hitting consistently? Can AJ get the average back to .290 territory? Will Beckham start hitting the ball? Will Kenny get creative and add a DH and drop that worthless turd Jones and turn Kotsay into only a pinch hitter? Can the Sox trade Teahen somehow so he doesn't ruin the mojo when he comes back? Go SOX! Stay tuned for these answers and more!
  11. Wow. I just perused the rosters of teams not doing so well, and there's not many options for what the Sox need (power lefty). I didn't see any names I could add. I like the idea of LaRoche or Berkman or even Luke Scott. On a side note, is Todd Helton really making almost $18 million this year? Yikes.
  12. I'd love to see the Sox win the next few series (up to the end of the month). What I think will happen is: 2 of 3 against Atlanta 2 of 3 against the Schlubs 2 of 3 against KC 1 of 3 against Tex Still a nice run for sure. I hesitated to say 2 of 3 against the Braves, but I think the team has a good head of steam. So, being 41-39 after July 4th would be good, and I would feel pretty good about this team. If they are at this record or better, I think KW seriously starts shopping. If ther Sox have a sub .500 record at that point, I might have to say I'm out.
  13. It's nice to be excited about baseball again. This team looks like a winner...especially the pitching. But, they just swept two bad NL teams. A sweep is a sweep, and it's even better when it's away. If they take two of three (or better) against a good Braves team, I'll be even more into it. All that being said, I'm on the fence. Still too many questions with the offense. Beckham and Quentin need to start hitting NOW, or even stellar pitching won't take the Sox to first place.
  14. I've known a lot of really good looking women named Kelly.
  15. Probably the first time this year I was really excited about a Sox winner. I didn't miss a pitch.
  16. What a game! Gavin pitched his ass off tonight.
  17. Gavin!! Rios!! Bullpen!! Jenks!! Way to beat the Walgreens Nationals!
  18. The Sox have a handful of guys that love hitting fastballs. Having watched Strasburg, that's how they will have to get hits against him. His curveball is ridiculous. I don't see him going deep into the game either. If the Sox can eek out 2 or 3 runs against him and get to the bullpen by the 7th, there's a chance. Win tonight and it makes a series win much more realistic.
  19. It matters that he sucks. There was some discussion a while back about the fact that Quentin was on pace for 93 RBIs while batting barely .200. That is a hard .200, and he's making it count. But imagine if he was batting .260 and had another 5 or 6 HRs and another 8-10 RBIs. I see the point though regarding his good hitting with RISP. But overall, yeah, he's not doing well.
  20. His moods can affect the phase of the moon.
  21. Paulie will get a hold of one of those fastballs and send it deep.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) It would be so awesome to kncock Strasburg out after 2 or 3 innings. That seems a bit dirty.
  23. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) aocni9pwnc ujnciuncipqwnciw kjncibwec I couldn't have said it better myself.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) When you suck his dick, it feels like he's sucking your dick. Not sure I've ever heard that one on the radio.
  25. His busines card just says, "I'll call you".
