  1. The Tomorrow War on Amazon was really enjoyable. I liked it much more than I expected to. If you want a decent sci-fi flick with plenty of action, it's a winner.
  2. We've been plowing through some 30 minute comedy/drama series lately. Ted Lasso on Apple+ is great. It's a feel-good sports comedy that sprinkles in some drama and plenty of foul language (which makes it more realistic). Season 2 starts tomorrow. Also on Apple+ is Trying, a British dramedy about a couple trying to adopt. It does a good job being a comedy while exploring the difficulties of adopting even while there are plenty of kids in the system. Crashing on Netflix is a fast-paced British comedy that fans of Fleabag would like. Phoebe Waller-Bridge created a frustratingly annoying but likeable character for herself. The show is probably not for everyone, but we really enjoyed it. And (not meaningfully advertising Apple+) Mythic Quest is one of the best comedies of late. It's essentially a workplace comedy that takes place at a video game developer. Great characters and plenty of laugh out loud moments. And seeing F. Murray Abraham play a drunk, politically incorrect, washed-up sci-fi writer is just fantastic.
  3. There's a real chance Yermin would not have been called up again this season, especially with the success of Burger and Sheets and with Eloy coming back soon. I could see him deciding to call it quits, but it's a little sudden and dramatic. And as another poster said, no one except for Yermin knows why he decided to do what he did. We may eventually know, or he may return, or he may be traded to a team that could have him play every day. I think the most likely scenario is that we'll never know for sure and we'll be left with the memory of Yermin's one awesome month when he helped this team immensely.
  4. It's eerily quiet on the trade front. I think a lot of teams are waiting to get closer to the deadline when some prices may drop. This could be one of those deadlines when a massive flurry of trades happen on the last day.
  5. Someone said he got hit by a pitch? Is that right, or is it time for #HugWatch? Edit: He apparently made a diving catch but looked okay afterwards.
  6. You have to believe Sheets and Burger are being sought after by plenty of teams that the Sox are talking to about trades. To me, Burger is the one I'd have an easier time parting with. I like them both and wish they'd be with the Sox for the long haul. But, of the two, Sheets would seem to have more value to the Sox. Burger is essentially blocked by Moncada, unless he is converted to 1B (but then there's Vaughn). Sheets has shown that he can play a decent RF, and his size makes him a good candidate for 1B. Regardless, if one or both are traded, I hope it's for the right player(s). These guys could have plenty of value.
  7. Offense looks terrible today. How can this be the same team from this weekend?
  8. Was at the game with the family and friends. Many drinks were consumed, and we had a blast. One of the best games I’ve ever attended. It was awesome to see Rodon, Kopech, and Hendriks pitch in person. Huge win for the Sox.
  9. Yep. I wasn't even thinking about Mercedes since I think I only saw him catch once or twice, but yeah...
  10. One of them old school fireplug catchers like Mike Lavalliere. Although he wasn't nearly as hefty, I just remember him being a shorter, squatter catcher.
  11. Adolfo and Lopez for Escobar would be a nice trade for the Sox. And, who knows, maybe AZ could get something out of Lopez and just give Adolfo a shot at the MLB level. It'll be interesting to see if anything develops from these...developments.
  12. If the Sox were to trade for Story and is a big help, is there any chance they try to extend him after this year? I don't see the fit with TA and Madrigal.
  13. Yeah, this was one of those trades that has seemed to work out for both teams.
  14. I suppose I could see that. If he is being traded, he's most likely part of a package, I would assume.
  15. 1-6 with an ERA approaching 8 in AAA. I don't know which is more likely between spot starting or being traded. Both seem...unlikely. The Sox have better choices to spot start, right? But then, who would want Lopez in a trade?
  16. With many of our players, but for some reason especially Yoan, it's a case of what we have vs. what we want. And if someone showed Moncada's stats without revealing it's him, most people would LOVE to have that guy on the team. The Sox have one of the best 3B in the game that gets on base 40% of the time, and fans would love to have...well, one of the best 3B on the game who gets on base 40% of the time. But not Yoan Moncada.
  17. During Moncada's rough 2018, he struck out 33.3% of the time and walked 10.3% of the time. In 2019, which was an amazing year for him, he struck out 27.5% of the time but only walked 7.2% of the time. So far in 2021, he's striking out only 25.1% of the time and walking a robust 16.5% of the time. He's clearly getting better at the plate, despite his power numbers being down. I would hazard to guess that the power dip is temporary and he'll start hitting for power again soon. He's 26 years old and is one of the best 3B in the game. He contributes in the field with a really good glove and contributes at the plate by getting on base A LOT. Do you know how many teams would kill for a player like Yoan?
  18. SoxTalk: WAR is the most important metric in baseball! Also SoxTalk: Yeah, I know Yoan is on pace for 5 WAR, but he's just not that good.
