Here's what I don't understand from KW's perspective
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Feb 12, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) Why jettison Swisher when he value has bottomed out? this is what i disagree with the most. he would NOT have been worse than Owens.

Here's what I don't understand from KW's perspective
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Feb 12, 2009 -> 11:45 AM) You are assuming someone else would take on his contract when they could also explore the CHEAP ASS options on the free agent market fair enough, the market is/was saturated w/ corner OF. i guess i'm just really confused in general about how this offseason went down across the board. WHY was Dunn so undesirable? Abreu? All the bigger named guys who havent or JUST recently signed? i'm just amazed how we completely avoided upgrading the starting rotation and are accepting Owens in CF.

Here's what I don't understand from KW's perspective
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Feb 12, 2009 -> 11:26 AM) You are speaking as if there are other options that KW can go acquire. There are none. There is no more money. There are no more options. For this year, this was his only course. i disagree, there were plenty of options at one point or another - and options that were CHEAP. why DIDN'T we trade Dye? In my book, the best thing we could've done was trade him (plus whatever) for a starter and signed a CHEAP ASS Adam Dunn.

Roster glut hypotheticals
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 11, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) Lillibridge in CF is a possible/probable 2nd option if Owens struggles anyway. BP projects Owens at a -27 VORP.

Alex Rodriguez tested postive for steroids in 2003; Admits It
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) I could see someone like J.D. Drew being 100% clean, as he has a strong religious background that frowns upon taking drugs. yeah because i've never met a religious hypocrite. what about his body breaking down?

Alex Rodriguez tested postive for steroids in 2003; Admits It
goddamnit this is sad. at this rate you might as well just make roids legal... ya know, like they made wearing gloves in the field legal...

It's Tax Season

NY Daily News: Sox make Abreu 1-Year Offer
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) My personal opinion is that our best lineup would be Thome leading off with Alexei batting 2nd, if that gives you some insight into how I'd manage at the Cell. I completely agree we need to break up the 3/4/5/6, especially if AJP is batting 2nd or 7th. i completely agree.

NY Daily News: Sox make Abreu 1-Year Offer
WHOA WAIT A MINUTE GUYS - ...we're talking about a sox-related rumor... like... a rumor... that has to do with the sox... WTF!?

NY Daily News: Sox make Abreu 1-Year Offer
QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) That's fine, as you couldn't have Thome/Dunn in same lineup. Dunn > Thome

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) I think that ship has sailed in regards to Dunn which really bums me out.

Feds Get Bonds' Steroid-Laced Urine
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) thank you that's your opinion, and you can't prove it, so why make the statement? a) because we're allowed to make statements of opinion and b ) because without the roids he never would have been able to recover from all his injuries, never would have been able to be the best player in the game through his 40's (see frank thomas). he and frank were equivalent players in their prime - and both were big guys (by the end for bonds) so why has franks game diminished while Bonds' soared? cuz he could bounce back from injury faster and didn't have to deal with the effects of aging.

Feds Get Bonds' Steroid-Laced Urine
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) because everyone who cheats breaks the all-time homerun record ... but he DID cheat to do it... who cares that other people couldn't do that. yes, he had assloads of talent, but he never would've reached that plateau without roids.

2001 World Series
i remember watching that series on the tv in my parents bedroom. and yeah, i was rooting arizona all the way. for whatever reason, that one and 05 are the only series to really stand out in my head of this decade. come on - at the time, the schilling johnson thing was incredible to watch.

Feds Get Bonds' Steroid-Laced Urine
QUOTE (Wanne @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) That's what I was getting ready to say. Doesn't the gov't have better things to do? he lied under oath! you think he should be allowed to get away with it because he's a baseball player??? have you seen the crime problems in the nfl? sports figures think they are above the law and they SHOULDN'T be. so of COURSE he should be tried and of COURSE this should be going on.
-
Feds Get Bonds' Steroid-Laced Urine
well my view is if he gets convicted, not only is it perjury, but proof that he did illegal steroids. isn't that sufficient to ban someone from baseball?

Sox nugget?
given the fact that this has been THE most boring offseason in recent history - it better be something worth talking about... lol

The Workout Thread
so on top of the actual exercise, billiards threw his diet up there and that inspired me to ask the question - what about diet? i'm 22, and skinny as hell. though i will say i think my metabolism is slooowly starting to slow down cuz those abs aren't quite as apparent as they used to be. but, point is, i've wanted to put on weight/muscle, and i'm wondering if anyone else has a diet plan that they've used.
