QUOTE (ChiCard @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) Just think about how things will look a year or two from now with Beckham, Danks, Veiryo, and Flowers hitting 2-3-4-5! ... quentin?

it's been alright lately... i think, but for a while i wouldn't get a text till half an hour to an hour and a half after the person sent it. very - very annoying.

ESPN radio reporting Mets/White Sox talks heating up...

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) Me too. But that ain't happening. Hope KW and his scouts have evaluated these Mets correctly. Can you say rebuilding mode? mets fans think that even martinez and pelfrey is way too much to give up for vaz and jenks. martinez will be solid, and pelfrey's turning out to be a stud. his sinkerball is webb-esque and he could do really well for us. i doubt we'd get murphy as well, tho he projects to be a poor man's chase utley. i'd love it, but it wont happen. even so, the 2 for 2 i'd do in a heartbeat. -

Martinez AND Pelfrey would make me piss myself. MAKE IT HAPPEN! -
QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) He could be sincere when he says Fields will be the 3rd baseman next year, but it doesn't mean they aren't trying to sign Viciedo. Viciedo will be 20 next season, so there wouldn't be a rush to bring him up. Maybe Fields and Getz have good, but not great seasons and have some trade value a year from now to make room for Viciedo and Beckham. As far as next moves...CF for sure. I'm liking that Vazquez to St. Louis for Colby Rasmus rumor. Kenny should make that happen. there is nothing validating this right? cuz i've heard nothing about this. st louis isn't that retarded.

QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) Mayb I'm a Chicago guy but, I thought Jermaine was better than Grady...I love Sizemore but Dye was better. thoroughly disagree.

all you guys who are happy swish is gone are just messed up. last year was a fluke. he's going to be good next year. is wilson betemit seriously better? that's not even a question.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) What happened to Dye? Did he die or get traded, and i didn't know about it? i'm just assuming he will be. one of the big 3 is, and Pauly's not... that leaves Thome and Dye. And they're shopping Dye heavily
-
guess Pauly's not going anywhere. so now the question is... with Swish and Dye gone, who the heck is in the outfield besides CQ?
-
i still hate this. we will regret it.
-
f***ing hate it. what the hell.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) Ok, I'll say it, her body isn't all that bad. Too many adult beverages and a Hefty 2 ply and she just might rope you. dear god... just imagine waking up next to that in the morning. 2 inches from your face. *shudder*

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 07:58 AM) If Poreda gives us what Jeff Samardzija did the Cubs last year, I will be thrilled. That is potential closer material. how great would that be if we traded Jenks and this guy turned out to be a good closer?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 11:51 AM) There is actually a really valid point in here, and it goes back to all of the college students who are saying that they are "too busy". Its a life choice. For people who have to have the money, it is a choice of going to college or not. At that point, you most likely make the life choice to give up something that you think is ultra-important right now, such as a social life, sport, club etc. Guess what, that prepares you well for the real world where you make those very same types of choices during your life. Look no further than having kids. I don't have to tell anyone on here about how much you sacrifice of yourself after you have kids. Its a good thing to have that life lesson earlier, rather than later in life. i'm not gonna touch this.

QUOTE (Steff @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) I don't think you have to worry about this. And going forward I would guess students will know what they have to do and be able to plan accordingly. right, it's not about me specifically. i'm just saying that my schedule is the schedule of a lot of kids in school. not the majority, but a lot. but maybe you're right. we'll see.

my theory on alaska is simple. they called the race for obama before their polls closed. so i will guarantee you people went home and didn't vote. what's the point? yeah, congressional races, but i can see people just not giving a s*** after hearing mccain lost or, in the case of obama, not feeling like they need to vote anymore and assuming since all the polling had begich up by a lot that it didn't matter.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 11:15 AM) We had mandatory community service days when I was in college. I survived. i mean right, i guess if it was community service or not go to college i'd take it. and that's what they're trying to do so... fine. but even upper middle class families like mine would WANT me to do it to get the 4k, and all i'm saying is that on top of the schedule i currently lead that'd be ridiculous. since i work - i like that proposal a lot better. and so would everyone else. they do something for the country, get money from the gov't AND from their employer. Everyone's happy.
-
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 11:12 AM) Yes. 200 hours is 5 work weeks. And the compensation would equal roughly $20/hour. k... right... but as a college student even 50 hours/semester would be a huge pain in the ass - much less 100. right now, i take what's called theatre practicum - backstage, crew stuff - and we have to do 50 hours worth over the semester. it's pretty time consuming. and to have to add ANOTHER fifty on top of that would be insane.
-
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 11:08 AM) I think its a reasonable plan, but I also think that the amount of work required should be increased to 200 hours for college students per year. you mean the community service hours?
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) See my previous post. If you don't want the $4000 from the gov't then it isn't a requirement that page on change.gov doesn't make that clear. but also, in complete honesty, i think john edwards' plan was ten times better. this community service thing does NOTHING (relatively) for the country. in edwards' you had to work like 10 hours a week to get the cash from the gov't. this way at least you're feeding and helping the American economy.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 07:07 AM) If McCain's Concession Speech Was As Bitter As His Campaign -- powered by Cracked.com eh, stupid. honestly, i thought his speech was classy and showed that there is old mccain still left in there somewhere. let's stop bashing the guy.
-
i hate this. wtf Obama. see i'm already pissed at him. haha what about those of us who are ALREADY so f***ing busy that we don't have TIME to log 100 hours of community service? as a theatre major i have class all day, work, then rehearsal till 11 at night, 6 days a week. i'm sorry, but REQUIRING community service is just plain dumb.
