QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 11:07 AM) In addition Reddy, it's the presentation I thought was a bit out of line. We've had what...? 6 or 7 of these type of things over the past 2 years and every time it's turned into a "here's the rules, follow them"... and 20 posts later.. "well.. how about this? How about that? What if this? What if that?" What part of "these are the rules, follow them" is so hard to comprehend? This site was a smooth running machine when everyone respected everyone and their opinions even when the "hey, screw you" disagreements came about. It's just really strange how the times have changed and someone can't make a silly trade comment where they aren't jumped on and buried or when posters comment on not liking or agreeing with something that they are told they are blind, stupid, or some other half wit name. I saw this post initially and was elated. Now it's become a hey... "do this, do that". Taken away a lot of the mods & admis thunder, IMO. K. Apologies. ok steff yeah i hear ya and i agree. i like the new rules as well. i dont think it's taken away their thunder though - as long as they (the mods and rules) are respected things will be fine

ok i'm starting to agree with YASNY, can you two just stop?

7/14 Game Thread: White Sox vs. Yankees
Reddy replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
ESPN just said we're facing Moose...?????? -
QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) I understand that, and I truly appreciate it. Since I've been here, I really haven't seen a problem with trolls either. WSI has tons of trolls and that's their reason for being so strict. Plus, WSI is a little more high profile and lots of players/media members go there. They were featured on CBS one time as well I believe. They want to uphold a certain reputation--which is understandable. Basically, it's nice to come here and let loose once in awhile. My suspension is over at WSI, but I'm still here too. I don't think I'm going anywhere, sorry Steff. lol i think the only issue steff had was that if you ARE going to stay here don't complain about the rules. in a thread like this, if you have a constructive point to make - and you make it in a positive, helpful manner - you'd be fine.

7/14 Game Thread: White Sox vs. Yankees

howbout a replay of last year? how many homers did we hit off johnson? 17? -
QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 10:50 AM) I know who you were referring to, but I had some little problems at first. I got banned for 3 days at one point for trying to defend myself. I've been here like a month. unlike wsi, the mods here are really great - and don't ban people unless they truly deserve it...

Will the Local Media Shut Up about the Cubs
Reddy replied to SouthSidePride05's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) Just because you don't doesn't mean everyone doesn't. I think the attention will draw farther and farther away from the Cubs as the 2nd half goes on. But next week, when they're mathematically eliminated (hehe), the Sox/Tigers will get most of the attention. They can only milk this Fire Dusty/What's wrong with the Cubs thing for so long. rowands point is why does it matter? does it really bother you that much? -
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) Why not? Why not anyone who is questioning the 'rules'? Seriously Sleepy... shouldn't the laws be the laws and be good enough? Let the mods, mod, right? Sounds good, yet here are additional suggestions??? Seems like a slap in the face to me. Poetic, isn't it. heads and kap told me they WANTED discussion about the new rules - see what we posters thought... so... thats why the discussion was set up. now who's questioning their decisions?

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 02:05 AM) And all I did was ask if it's a possibility at all. As for the toe-stubbing bit, Soxtalk doesn't have a color for hyperbole, as far as I know. But I thought it was pretty obvious. I never said YOU "cry steroids" all the time, I'm just saying that it comes up too often. I just wish people would only bring it up when there's a good, documented connection. i realized the hyperbole. in any case, how often is there a good documented connection? bonds mcqwire sosa palmeiro canseco camenitti (random players suspended) maybe a few others i've forgotten at the moment - point is, if we limit steroid talk to those few guys thats just ... um... stupid knowing how pervasive the steroid use was.
-
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 08:04 PM) That's pretty weak, imo. And, to be clear, I'm not saying Gagne did or didn't. I just think that there's gotta be some basis to speculating, some connection between the injury and steroids. It's gotten so that if any big guy stubs his toe, someone suggests steroids. thats great, like i said i'm not a friggin doctor - i was merely posing a possibility... and um, gagne did not exactly stub his toe... i'm not one of those people that cries steroids every ten seconds. why dont you re-read my initial post on the matter.

What was the Point of Clemente "award" last nite?
Reddy replied to Hangar18's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 04:44 PM) The whole thing was Selig-esque/been there-done that. They can honor him, but unless its for something different, or a new award or something of that nature, I didnt see what the point was, because THEY DID THIS already. Thats like the SOX having a 1983 Tribute next week, getting all the players together, talk about the accomplishments etc etc. Or having a Carlton Fisk Tribute day again, complete with Statue dedication and talk about his accomplishments etc etc. That shouldve been done before the game, not in the middle of the contest. It was a gratuitious pr stunt by Selig and MLB. If they wanted to do something, have a Clemente Scholarship awarded to anyone in the Pittsburgh area or something a bit more original than the "he was great, heres a trophy" schtick that the MLB braintrust seems to think is forward thinking. i cant imagine it might have had something to do with the fact that the all star game was played in pittsburg... ya think? nothing wrong with honoring one of the greatest ballplayers and human beings of all time in his "home" town at the allstar break. -
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) I've heard that tendons or ligaments can become more fragile, but I've never heard that they will affect your nerves or your back. Do you know of any connection? not specifically - i'm no doctor - but i do know that mark mcgwire had a ton of back trouble post steroids...
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) He doesn't. He has a player option, while the team has a team option. He'll be back in Philly next year. right, i'm an idiot - i didnt read the whole thang. gotcha
-
QUOTE(KJean @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) Here are some of the Sox at the All Star Game: is Ozzie Jr wearing a Pierzynski jersey??
-
ok so i hate when this is always brought up but... steroids?
-
kickass i had just dropped lane yesterday then this happened! i'm a genius!

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 01:27 PM) That says for next season. Is this trade happening now or in the offseason because ARow can become a FA if he doesn't excercise his option or the Phils don't pick it up. I'm talking about this season not the 2007 season. he becomes a FA after this year? if so then WHY are we talking about trading for him...? why not just sign him...?

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) I'm not sure I entirely understand your question, but: If the stereo doesn't have at least 5.1 outputs (center, front l/r, back l/r, sub), then you're not going to be able to hook up each speaker. Well, you'd need some kind of splitter/crossover thingy but it'd completely defeat the purpose of surround sound. You could hook it up to a receiver with more outputs (7.1) I suppose. actually that helped, thanks.
-
come on now someone's gotta have a definitive answer on here right?
-
i just had a quick question and hoped someone on here would be able to answer it. does a 5.1 channel speaker system need to be hooked up to a 5.1 channel receiver or does it matter?
-
she's so hot though...

QUOTE(Zoogz @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) Congratulations to the White Sox fans for voting A.J. into the All-Star game. It is sad that people do not realize that as far as the fan voting goes, the only reason Rodriguez was voted in was to make sure that Varitek and his bad numbers would not be rewarded, and it's hard to not pick a second catcher who is batting almost .400 through half a season. A.J.'s contributions definitely had to be recognized, and if it had to be in a 32-man setting, so be it. (Though in all honesty, if Joe Crede was on the ballot, I would have voted him over either Verlander or Liriano). Anyway, the other reason to be glad about this is that Pudge doesn't have to catch for even a half-game due to A.J.'s entrance to the game. thanks, but .327 is not exactly almost .400. but thanks anyway.

*COUGH* JOSE CONTRERAS *COUGH* nuffsed. EDIT: i clicked fast reply too early i see. i dont care if you "cant compare them" - what i see is two pitchers who their only issues were mental. Coop fixed one, why the hell not try and fix another. This will be a great thread to pull back later when Javy DOES win a big game. And he will. I guarantee he will.
