Yeah I just read that, completely ridiculous. If you had given me a thousand guesses, I would have never guessed it. Might as well just have 1 judge then, the more I read, the more clear it is this is all just a joke. GT, I assume you mean MLB panels? Because many real arbs go 3-0 all the time.
-
Thats what I thought, so the test is already very unreliable (in terms of drug tests its the worst reliability, 1 is hair and 2 is blood), there was a reading that was far outside of the normal range (even for failed tests,, at least thats what I believe I read when it came out) and there was poor handling of the sample. Surprised that it was 2-1
-
To clarify, the original comment made it seem like his lawyers were basically admitting Braun was guilty, but do to improper handling, he got off. The example of that is: I got a speeding ticket and I won because the police officer forgot to sign the ticket. There is no doubt as to my guilt, they just cant win. What I likely believe there argument was, is this example. I got a speeding ticket, but I won because the radar gun said I was going 5000 mph and my car could only go 150, so there was no reliable evidence as to what my speed was.

Ah okay, I was reading the comment to literally. The implication of any "chain of custody" argument is that due to a failure in the chain of custody the sample is unreliable. So yes, they probably did not argue the test was wrong or that there was purposeful evidence tampering, because those arguments actually hurt their better argument, the sample is unreliable. Basically all Braun's attorneys wanted to do was knock out the 1 sample, not attack the entire science. The reason, Braun passed other tests, so if they argued there was something fundamentally wrong with the science, those passed tests proved nothing.

Wow refs, when the ball hits the backboard and a guy blocks it, its a goal tend. Terrible terrible call. -
How do you know what Braun's attorneys argued? I havent seen any link to Arbitration filings or transcripts.
-
Were these pee tests or blood tests? Pee tests being stored improperly could result in evaporation which could cause the entire sample to be much stronger. My guess is that MLB tries to keep it secret what happened, because otherwise every player will raise it as a defense.

Treating corporations as people is not equal to corporations deserving the same rights. For example, as a person you are entitled to represent yourself Pro Se. As a Corporation (besides for limited circumstances) you must hire an attorney. Corporations do not have any inherent rights/privileges. Furthermore Corporations only derive their power from the State as they only are in existence where the State recognizes them. Thus Corporations deserve no special protection. Corporations are a benefit, by incorporating the State protects personal assets from business debts. If you want the full protection of the First Amendment, put your name on it. If you want to run ads, dont hide behind a corporate shell.

There are 2 options. 1) For whatever reason the SC wants to reaffirm Citizens United, but it was the dissenting Judges who wrote the statement or 2) One of the Judges who ruled in Citizens has changed their mind and basically let it be known that they will flip. I think most would say Citizens United is a universally panned decision and Roberts may not want this decision on his record or maybe Kennedy thinks he went a little to far in the idea that the laws could restrict the press (I really dont think Alito, Scalia, Thomas give a damn what anyone else thinks), Stevens basically went insane on the ruling (He read part of his dissent and it was 90 pages) and maybe Roberts is starting to realize that as a Supreme Court Justice he can do whatever he wants and he doesnt need to placate the powers that got him there. I dont know, he seems overall reasonable. I just dont know a lot of reasonable people who think corporations deserve the same rights as people. When you type the words you just cant believe its real.

Commitment
-
Its still early but when you look at the top 40 or so WR prospects, I just dont see a need to force it in the 1st. Depending on 40 times etc, I can easily see guys like McNutt, Toon and Broyles going at earliest in the 2nd. At 19 its unlikely the Bears are going to get Blackmon, I dont really want another small WR like Wright, so that would basically leave Floyd/Jeffery as possible 1st round targets. Both of those guys fit the profile, its just not clear whether they are so much better than the other WR's I mentioned.
-
I barely use the microwave for anything except defrosting. I generally reheat pizza in the oven.
-
Those teams GB, NY, NE, NO are for the most part using WR's that werent drafted in the 1st round. After the combine there should be more clarity, but Id have no problem with the Bears taking a WR in rounds 2-4 instead of 1, it just depends on what is there.
-
Yeah its odd, basically 2 of the Justices that you would assume would uphold MT's ruling are the ones saying that the Fed Supreme should look at it. My guess is they think this time theyll win.
-
That reads really odd: make it exceedingly difficult to maintain that independent expenditures by corporations “do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption.” Id., at ___(slip op., at 42). A petition for certiorari will give the Court an opportunity to consider whether, in light of the huge sums currently deployed to buy candidates’ allegiance, Citizens United should continue to hold sway. That would seem to suggest the Court is actually going to consider whether Citizens United was a good ruling. A stay is probably necessary all things considered.
-
The case is in Federal Court, any Federal Case can go to the Supreme Court (it doesnt necessarily have to have a constitutional right), slightly different than a case in State Court which would only generally go to the Federal Supreme if there was some sort of Federal Constitutional issue.

Hickory, The problem is right now most fan bases just dont have the disposable cash to support that type of traveling. Even the Big10 Championship game had problems selling tickets because so many MSU/Wisconsin fans were saving for the Rose Bowl, and these are 2 of the largest fan bases and generally considered to have good traveling support. You add in how much they want for donations just for the privilege to buy the season tickets, etc. a lot of bases just wont support 3 games (Championship, semi-final and final). -
What does it matter? The richest are paying both sides, they win no matter what. Maybe we should create rules that stop all campaign contributions, ban all political ads.

From all accounts Walker is a hard working guy with a good attitude. Guys like Konerko have had nothing but great things to say about him. Hitting coach is a position that gets little credit and much blame. Hoping he does well, because at the end of the day he never did anything disrespectful to the Sox. He showed up every day and maybe he didnt get the results the fans, etc wanted. I also have a feeling he may have a better shot in a clubhouse that doesnt have a Manager like Guillen.
