  1. Every post I have said TJ is the starter. But he has never had a full season in his career. Why will this year be different? SB
  2. And our RB's last year were responsible for: 1800 yards out of 3200 yards total. More than 50% of our production came from 1 position, and you do not think we need a top tier back up there. I disagree. And 2nd round qbs suck after Campbell. You can get better ones way later that are going to slip through the cracks. But wr in the 2nd round could be better than rb in the 2nd. Where as only 3 rb will probably be chosen in the 1st 5 WR could be gone. Sb
  3. I disagree. There is a chance at more talent in the RB position, if you happen to have the right pick at the right time. But if the RBs are gone when your pick is up, then that depth does not matter. Also only time will tell about which position is better, but there are guys like Chris Henry that no one is even talking about. There is less top tier talent RBs, then there are top talent wr. More wrs will go in the 1st than rbs. SB
  4. Okay Ill break this down really slow. In the first round the bears draft a RB. In the second round the bears draft a wr or te. The Bears starting line up would be: Mush, Gage, Wade, Rookie. 4 good quality recievers, with 1 that will get the majority of the balls. A TE who was under utilized. Our rb would be: Thomas Jones and rookie. Hayes, Nah thats a bad argument. Harrison would just have to be 3x more productive per touch. If we assume a RB gets about 3 yds pc, the WR has to get about 9 ypc. SB
  5. Never heard of the Baltimore Ravens? An argument can be made that a great running game creates a good passing game. Watch some Wisconsin football, they run the ball all the time. So when they start putting safties in the box, you throw deep. SB
  6. A good offensive line will open up more holes than a good passing attack. And exactly, they dont have any star WR, let alone 2 of them. I would love to get DJ or Rolle, but if they go that route they have to trade down, because Carlos Rogers would also merit consideration. Also half of the Bear fans would promptly commit suicide if we got more defense. Jackie, And our 2nd rb touched the ball 3x more than Wade. SB
  7. Yeah but Reggie Brown, Heath Miller, etc are > Fason, and will probably be around at our 2nd pick. I think the Bears are building a defense and running team. Ball control wins championships, it may not be sexy, but look at who has won the last 4 Super Bowls. Actually the last 5 have been defensive teams. SB
  8. Bears 2 rb: Anthony Thomas 122 404 3.3 2 Bears 2 WR: Bobby Wade 42 481 11.5 0 In Grossmans games last year: Lions: Terrel 5 catches Thomas Jones 6 Rest 1 Packers: Wade 3 catches Rest 2 catches Vikings: Jones 8 Wade 4 Rest 2 or less Not a large sample, and you can argue that M Williams is better, but not that many throws to the same target in any game, outside of RB. SB
  9. And if TJ stays healthy and puts together a full season of production than the Bears are in great shape. If he does not, the offense fails because we have no running back. The Bears are not going to be the Colts, or another team that is going to win the game throwing the ball. Expect ball control and defense. And if you build that style of team, and your running back goes down, your team is done. (Edit) And I expect that the Bears will draft a TE or WR in the 2nd, which means that no matter what Mush will be paired with a significant upgrade. SB
  10. Gore in the 4th would be fine, but we can not really take the risk that he will be there when we pick, because if he is not than we would have to settle on a guy like Anonthy Davis, etc, who have major question marks. I think Gore is not as sure of a thing as many are thinking, and I have watched him play a lot and he never wowed me like Portis or McGahee, I know that Gore was supposed to be the starter, but I just never saw it. And Cadillac has been very durable, has good hands, and has shown the ability to work between the tackles. Back up running back will probably get minimum 10 touches a game, where as 2nd reciever may not even have 1 ball thrown his way. (Edit) There is no reason to believe that Benson would be a mistake. He could very well turn out to be the most productive and best back in the draft. Just he does not seem as special as the other 2 rb options. SB
  11. Ron Dayne. And Cadillac Williams: 5 feet 10 7/8, 217 pounds, 4.43 in the 40. Ronnie Brown: 6 feet 0¼, 233 pounds, 4.43 in the 40. Cedric Benson: 5 feet 10½, 222 pounds, 4.53 in the 40. Benson is not that much bigger than Cadillac, but he does not play nearly as fast. SB
  12. Williams may be the best back in this draft period. There is a reason that he started over Brown, and its not because the coach liked him better. He can catch the ball, he breaks tackles, and every time he touches the ball he can go the distance. Since his freshman year, his lowest ypc over a season is 4.9, and only in 2004 did Brown have a longer run than Williams. As for Benson, I just am not very high on him. Nothing to do with mileage on him either, some of those games came against powder puff opponents. SB
  13. I hope the Bears do not trade down. When the Bears traded down and got Grossman, they could have just stayed put and taken Leftwich. Of the teams with 2 picks, only the Vikings have a selection where there is a high possibility that one of the four top offensive players will be available. If they trade down and miss out on; Edwards, M Williams, Brown, or C Williams they will have made a huge mistake unless they are some how able to come out with a combination of that includes Williamson or Clayton. In this draft 4 is a great spot, and unless the Bears are overwhelmed I hope they stay there and pick the best offensive player available. My preference would be: 1. R Brown 2. C Williams 3. Edwards or M Williams I know WR is probably a bigger need, but I think in the 2nd the Bears could get a TE or WR who will be a good compliment to Mush. SB
  14. When I posted people were saying less information. Of course after I post and right before it everyone decides to give up the good stuff. hehe SB
  15. More information for the poor souls who otherwise have to get their information from ESPN or Yahoo. Thanks in advance. SB
  16. Something is really wrong with him. When I first heard that he had a hernia it made absolutely no sense, but I did not want to jump to conclusions. It is very strange because Maggs clearly went through a physical before he signed a contract with the Tigers, and they were acting like the hernia has been around for a while. That means that the Dr.s that did the physical had to have missed a hernia. It seemed pretty illogical, especially since Maggs was already an injury risk, so I assume they went over him with a fine tooth comb. I dont know what it is, but something is definitely suspect. SB
  17. Well most people consider next years draft much better and stronger. Not to mention that all the Redskins have to do is have a lower draft pick than 25 next year and its worth it. SB
  18. Usually I watch both days, but this year Ill probably watch the 1st day and 1 or 2 rounds on day 2. With the Bears not having a 3rd round pick there will be a lot of down time. SB
  19. Bighurt, Rights are for everyone, not for those who we agree with. If I started a group advocating that 18 should be the legal age for drinking (Eighteen Say Yes to Drinking, ESYD) would IDOT prevent me from buying a sign that said "This road was adopted by ESYD" would that be illegal and should the govt say that I can not buy the sign. People should be able to believe what they want, regardless of how sick the majority may view it. As long as they do not break the law, then the government should stay out of their lives. SB
  20. The whole point of the ACLU is that they pick battles that most lawyers wont touch with a 10 foot poll. People have rights, no matter how disturbing their preferences are, they have rights that the govt can not infringe upon. The ACLU stands up for these people who may not be able to find representation. If this case was about a the Red Cross adopting a highway and some one saying that the Red Cross should not be able to, there would be lawyers lined up to take the case. Its not the ACLU's fault, in fact it is their job to take these cases and to argue them to the best of their ability. They do not take cases that they know they can not win because they would be subject to censure or other punishment from the ARDC. And Kramer's luxury lanes ruled. SB
  21. Everyone needs a stress reliever. And its not that hard to beat the computer, I mean it is after all just a machine. SB
  22. Supersteve, When you get so good you can dominate the computer at MVP every game, simming becomes more fun. Im not there yet with MVP, but I was there with Madden. SB
  23. Check Harris's pitches per ab, hes pretty high for the White Sox. Also 19 sb for a rookie is not that bad, he did lead the White Sox. SB
  24. Who is W. Harris? According to Soxtalk insiders Willie Harris was traded from the White Sox during Spring Training. SB
