  1. Has to be Merriman. They will not pick another CB after they signed Henry. I think the Lions will take Merriman for real, but the vote went Barron so Dallas fans will be so happy. SB
  2. It does not matter what Rivers could of been. Edge > Rivers S. Alexander > Rivers P. Surtain > Rivers And so on and so forth. Each of these players at most is commanding a 2nd round pick, Ive heard the offer for Surtain is a 4. Edge and Alexander would be top 10 picks in this draft, yet no one thinks they will get the value for them. And Rivers is the same way, when you are trading a player with huge salary numbers, you do not get value in return. That is why Rivers is at worth most a low 1st round pick, and I would say that most teams for Rivers would be willing to give a 2nd-3rd pick. I personally do not think Rivers is that great compared to Rodgers or Smith, I think they are all about equal and would rate about the same. Last year Rivers was the 3rd QB in my opinion (Behind Manning and Roth) and I thought he should of gone in the late first round (if you compared him to the year before he was not as good as Palmer or Leftwich, probably would of gone below both Boller and Grossman). You cant compare what they were drafted last year, with what they are worth this year. Rivers was worth much more last year than he is worth this year. Its just like a car, it depreciates once it leaves the lot, although had he played he could have improved his value. SB
  3. Look at how much teams have had to pay in the past to move up to 1. Generally 2 1st round picks minimum, Rivers may be worth 1, but he certainly is not worth 2. SB
  4. This is a really common rumor, although the version that is more common has the Chargers giving up Rivers and there 12 for the 49er's 1. San Diego would take a huge cap hit, but the cap hit today, is less than having a continual QB controversy. Ladanian likes Brees, it would be foolish to get rid of him. Rivers makes to much to be a back up, and if they can get that value for him (moving from 1 to 12 usually involves multiple first rounders) why not? They will have gained huge from trading Eli. I think moving down to 12 would be easy for the 49ers, who could then take a position of need and improve 2 positions, instead of having to draft a QB who may not make an impact this year. SB
  5. It was a good game, UNC played better than any team Wisconsin has faced this year. Wisconsin had its share of chances to put themselves ahead, and to try and win, but UNC prevailed where Wisconsin fell short. The best hope for Wisconsin was that the UNC players would play for themselves, and forget about the team, but it became apparent early that even the biggest stars were willing to feed May for the victory. I know that most think Wisconsin should be satisfied to have shown up and done well, but it is very hard to lose at 8, knowing that you played the 1 or 2 team to its limit. But in the end, you have to tip your hat to UNC. The media barely recognizes Wisconsin, but UNC did their job and played the game the right way. If they had not, they would have been sent home. You have to give Roy and Co credit for keeping all those talented players team oriented. UNC v. MSU will come down to foul trouble. Who ever gets the other teams big man in trouble first will have a huge advantage. Also its possible UNC will have to go through the top 3 Big 10 teams to win the championship. Was a good run, I think we play UNC in football in the next few years so we can have some revenge. Not sure who we get in the Big 10 ACC match up, but I hope for UNC because if they graduate a bunch of those guys, I have a feeling next year we will be ready for them. {edit} According to the Wisconsin papers, Taylor was not supposed to foul, they were trying to press, but he got carried away and bumped him. SB
  6. In little under 2 hours the Badgers and Tar Heels will meet for a place in the Final Four. This should be the cliche "good offense" versus "good defense" match up that is so over used in sports today. Pretty much every media outlet has already said UNC is in the Final Four. My own brackets depend on UNC making it to the championship game, but just because a few weeks ago I picked UNC over Wisconsin in this match up, does not mean that today I do not think that there is a chance for Wisconsin to win. Here are some reasons why Wisconsin could win: 1) Wisconsin does what Villanova did, better. You could see the frustration on UNC's faces, and you could tell after the game that Roy was not to pleased with the low scoring, time management offense of Nova. The problem was that Nova would push the ball up the court, where as the Badgers will almost never fast break. 2) The Badgers have already played equal competition. Illinois is generally considered the 1 or 2 team with NC taking the other spots. Yes Wisconsin lost to Illinois 3 times (2 of them being at fan heavy Illinois locations) but, Wisconsin played them well regardless of the final score. Most of the seperation came at the end with foul shots, but the facts are, Wisconsin was able to control the tempo with Illinois, why will it be run off the court by UNC? 3) UNC let down. If Wisconsin can control the tempo, UNC may begin to frustrate themselves. This is the trap that great players at the College level will fall into. If McCants, etc, start to break and pull up for jumpers, this could give Wisconsin a chance. The best defensive possession for them, is when the other team, breaks out, takes a quick shot, and Wisconsin gets a rebound and is able to use another 30 seconds of clock. For most of the players on UNC, it could feel like a minute before they were able to touch the ball or get into rhythm. 4) Strength of the Big 10. I am not talking about how good the conference is, but instead how physical the conference is. Illinois, MSU, Wisconsin have all been able to outlast their opponents. While the others have faded down the stretch, the final parts of the game have been where Wisconsin, etc have distanced themselves. May could be good, but I think that the Badgers will be able to contain him better than most will expect. So far we have only played 1 good big man in the tournament (Bucknell guy who single handledly beat Kansas), but I think that May is not as bad of a match up as people are claiming. In the end, I doubt that Wisconsin wins. But that is a far cry from saying that it is impossible or it will not happen. I would venture to guess that UNC will not blow out Wisconsin, and that a close game at the end favors Wisconsin as they have played in many more defensive oriented games. No matter what, I just hope that Wisconsin shows that offense may be fun to watch, but that defense is what wins games. SB
  7. It never made any sense to get rid of Harris. They want to be a speed and defensive team, that is the type of player Harris is. The problem was his attitude, notice how the article says he went to Ozzie to ask how he could improve. This is a clear indication that he has probably gotten over the problem that he had, and he realizes that the best way to be a MLB player is to do what hes asked and do the best with the situation. Harris should be able to be an average SS, his range and glove will be fine, he just might have some trouble making throws off his back foot. SB
  8. I never said UNC would not be a tougher match up. Just that they presented a different match up. So, I have no clue what you are talking about. SB
  9. Just because a team may not be as talented, or have a higher seed does not always mean that they will not be a tougher match up. Wisconsin has certain weaknesses that make some teams very hard for them to beat, even if they have more talent. UNC plays the type of game that the Wisconsin program is trained to beat. UNC is a fast pace, transition offense. Wisconsin is a half court team. UNC will try and get Wisconsin to play transition, Wisconsin will try and make UNC play half court. If Wisconsin can get UNC into half court, I think UNC will have trouble. Nova, Wisconsin would have just had to outplay, against UNC Wisconsin can try and get UNC to beat themselves. SB
  10. Id venture to say that of the top 3 ACC/ Big 10, they all would have a chance to win on their home floor. I am glad Wisconsin gets a shot at UNC, eventhough I think Villanova would of been a much easier game. If Williams thought Nova ran a slow offense, just wait until he faces the Badgers who are even slower and more methodical. Also there is no love for Williams who took a shot at MSU and Wisconsin after the final 4 game, in which he said that people like high scoring games more than defensive contests. NC did not look unbeatable last night, and if Wisconsin can frustrate them, there is a chance that they can upset them. SB
  11. Juggernaut, Np, I do not believe that print media can really be trusted. They rarely if ever correctly report court cases. The best policy in my opinion is to use the courts findings of facts (where both sides had the opportunity to refute the others claims). The courts are all in agreement, there is no reason legal reason why it should be over turned, at this point it is just an emotional attempt, and failure to let go. SB
  12. Is there any evidence to suggest her husband put undue pressure on her? Why are all of these argued in hypotheticals? There was a case, filled with facts. You better believe that the first malpractice suit lawyer exhuasted every avenue to try and pin it on the husband, anyone else but the Dr.'s. Its not like this happened a week ago and people are just getting the facts, the case is old. The facts are old. There were findings, and once the trial court has found the facts, the only standard to over turn them are "manifest weight of the evidence." SB
  13. Unless the courts are going to go against over 200 years or jurisprudence, I think that no matter how clever the motion it will fail. The father has the holy trinity on his side: The Florida Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary. If in the end, the Florida law is over turned, you will have witnessed the end of checks and balances. Also, what happened to courts being to activist, and the swelling of the federal docket? This new law just increased the federal docket exponentially, as probate is already one of the largest and fullest dockets in the US. Every person in the US will eventually die, that means every person's assets etc will be probated. Now add on to this, every time a person is DNR'ed etc, that there will be a federal court case, you are talking about so much judicial waste it is mind blowing. State's make their own laws, states approve their own laws, and states interpret their own laws. Florida's law is clear, Guardianship goes to husband before parents. If that is not the law the people of Florida want, then they should rewrite it. But the law is based on the precedent of the state, which they codified so that cases like this would be easier to decide. SB
  14. There have been rumors the Bears interest in Edge, etc. I doubt Henry, unless the Bills are willing to give him up for a 2nd day pick. With our 2nd round pick we could trade for Edge or Alexander, both much better than Henry. SB
  15. There is nothing wrong with Thomas Jones. Just a team that is relying on defense to win games, needs atleast 2 good running backs. The Bears have a chance to draft one of three outstanding rb prospects, who could turn into some of the best rb's in the draft. SB
  16. I think the Bears could take Cadillac just as easily as Benson. SB
  17. Garland would get more in the open market than 3.4million. Pitching is supposed to be our strength, I know McCarthy is the next savior, but if anyone goes down, then whos after McCarthy? If some one over pays greatly for Garland I would make the deal, but that would include a SP prospect. SB
  18. I like Garland. Hes young, he does not make that much money, and at worst he is a .500 sub 5. era pitcher. He also has pitched over 190 innings the last 3 years. Durable young pitchers with good stuff are not something you just give up on. Or atleast thats not what I would do. SB
  19. Well we had the draft tonight, went by pretty quick (around an hour). Should be fun, were some interesting teams chosen by the CPU. SB
  20. How well have the Sox done in seasons where Frank has been injured? SB
  21. Jets fan said he got it from PFFFT.com. Semi-legitimate site, wrong a lot, right once in a while. SB
  22. Actually of NFL-Fans.com A Jets fan said that he heard the rumor. Ive said that RW should be cut the whole off-season, so its not really mind blowing. And read that it originated from Bears.com, but I dont read that site. SB
  23. Rumors about Azumah being traded to the Jets, RW being cut or traded to whoever will take. SB
  24. I took Cadillac Williams. If Benson works out and runs well, then I think it will be a toss up between the 2. I think the Bears will go WR in the 2nd, looking for Roddy White, etc to fall or going for a guy like Chris Henry. SB
