  1. Bighurt, Players are bigger, faster, stronger, has no correlation to the amount of injuries. Neither of the injuries Grossman suffered were because of a "bigger stronger player", they were because of: 1) Using his hand to brace himself from falling. 2) Astro turf. So your argument application to Grossman is faulty, because injury was not a result of bigger stronger players, it was a result of circumstances. Also, I would like to see the injury rate for pro versus college, it is very similar. If you want to disprove it, provide some facts. Second, Are you a Dr? Because unless you are a Dr, that has actual knowledge of Grossman's injury, you are purely speculating on how long he would be out for. Your 10 week assesment is nothing more than opinion. Have you gone to medical school? Or are you just an arm chair Dr with an agenda? Because reading your posts seems to be making me regress back to Junior High. SB
  2. Alot of these arguments have logical fallacies. "Grossman did not throw a ball for 10 weeks" Where exactly was he going to be throwing the ball during the playoffs? Last I checked the Bears were in the off-season during that time, so there was no real reason to rush him, or to have him throwing a ball in January when training camp doesnt start for months. How stupid would it of been to rush Rex back in the offseason? So stupid that its not even comprehendable. Maybe they wanted him throwing for the combine or something in March? And generally injury prone is College and Football, in College you take just as many bad hits. Grossman's injuries have not been the same, so there is no correlation. 1) Finger due to hit right before half, was hit going forward fell on hand wrong. 2) Knee due to foot getting stuck in astro turf. SB
  3. It will be hard to pass on Benson at 2. I think if Brown is around at 4 the Bears have to consider him. SB
  4. CB, RW is a liability and I think should be cut or traded if some one will take him. Their CB's would be, Tillman, Azumah, (Rolle Jones), Vasher. As for LB Briggs, Urlacher, Johnson looks really good to me, Hunter is okay, but Johnson is one of the best line backers I have ever seen play. He is just so good. SB
  5. This was the WR I thought the Bears would pursue. It gives them a lot of options at 4, and I think Johnson, Rolle, and depending on whether or not the hype about Jones is real, will all be on the list. They could still go WR, as either way it would be a nice tandem, the problem is, thats a lot of money to be putting in WR. Maybe trade down. SB
  6. What is worse is this guy is gonna sue the Fleet Center if they wont allow his name. All I can say is: Brilliant. SB
  7. What I find annoying is how you preface your statements: Its every time you mention your OPINION about KW. You continually rely on the Ritchie trade. A trade he made as a rookie GM. Are you perfect? When you first went to school could you read, do algebra, etc? Or did you need experience? Time to learn and become acclimated? KW has shown improvement each year. He has shown a plan, he has shown a desire to put together a great team. Some times he fails, but Edison failed thousands of times before he would get it right 1 time. Its not what you say, its your know it all attitude that puts people off. Its the way that you put your "facts" into context. I take adverse positions to the majority of this site many times, last year I said Jose should not play, this year I have said I would like to see Gload get a chance to prove himself, and that I do not think its in the best interest to trade Harris. But there is a vast difference between having an original opinion, and just repeating KW hate every other post. And how could anyone have a problem with AJ being signed? What better options were there at $2mil? SB
  8. The new ESPN article is hilarious. Wood saying that he didnt mean Sosa leaving was bad, just the Cubs improved over the offseason. Who exactly did they gain? I guess Hairston and Burnitz are immense improvements over Sosa and Alou. (Personally dislike Alou and Sosa, but no way would I be so foolish as to think Burnitz + Hollandsworth + Hairston will equal their output.) Second, Baker unintentionally admits that he did give Sosa the day off. All Sosa has ever asserted was Baker gave him the day off, Baker finally admits that the night before he told the trainer Sosa could have the day off. Personally, I think that Sosa > Baker Baker is perhaps one of the worst managers that I have ever seen. Who gives the game ball to their pitcher before the game is over? Who blames the heat when the white people dont produce? Who blames the media when his players arent doing well? Who blames his player when he says he can have the day off? Its Dusty we trusty. SB
  9. Chicago to my knowledge has not attempted to get an Olympics. Also there is one problem, it is all of the canoeing events. For Atlanta they had to do some major construction on rivers to get it working the right way. Also US cities should almost always be the front runners for the Olympics, they are the only ones that can afford it, and actually can sell the thing out. Look at how disturbing the attendance for the Athens olympics was, and the fact that they could not get the construction done on time. SB
  10. A page back you see Willie showing Iguchi something, I have a feeling that reports of Willies departure have been vastly exaggerated. Good for the Sox that posters on this board do not make personal decisions for the White Sox. SB
  11. Keeper League 2 has been set up and currently we have 9 people, meaning 3 spaces are open. To join this league, please contact SSk25, as soon as possible and he will PM with who to add. Everyone that is in this league should have received a PM with all of the information. Please post any questions, comments, concerns here, Thanks for your time, Here is the list: Link to League Listings Keeper League 2 Soxbadger-commish Zoomslownik HoosierSox Ishmookie Thompsonmi hotlanta13 El Piervizdyeguchansodnik WinningUgly chimpy2121 SB
  12. I like all the unsubstantiated claims in this thread. The bigger question is: Why do all the Republican's in this thread seemingly want to disenfranchise people because: a) They work from 9-5 making voting on a Tuesday more of a hassle than a privilge. b) They were convicted of a crime, but have subsequently repaid their debt to society. Personally, I could care less if ex-felons are allowed to vote. Once they leave the prison, they are no longer a criminal they are an "ex" criminal. Therefore there right to vote was suspended while they were a criminal, but once they become part of society again, that suspension should be revoked. As for whether or not its easy to vote, that is a fact based question, and one you can not generalize about. Many people live in different counties than they work, therefore they have to either go before or after work. This is not convenient, and the fact that voting is a right that stands on a pedastal should mean that the govt. does whatever is necessary to facilitate the ability for the most American's to vote, in the most convenient way. Cook County workers get off for both: Lincoln's Birthday and President's Day, yet the common worker does not get off so that he can vote. Strange indeed. SB
  13. I sent the league information to Ss2k5, and I believe he is pming it to the Soxtalk 2 Keeper league. Right now the live draft is March 21 at 6 cst, this can be changed. Also its 5x5, which also can be changed once we get everyone in the league. Ive never been Commish before, so I will be open to everyones suggestions of what they want in a league. I also set it up as head to head, because I think thats more enjoyable. Any questions, comments, criticisms, welcome. SB
  14. I hope Willie stays. And being 2nd in the West, is not that great. Considering most of the West teams have atleast 1 glaring hole in the OF. In most other leagues their of would be dead last. SB
  15. Meant combine numbers. Edwards projected 40 is better than Williams. Also think Edwards will put up a pretty good vert, etc. SB
  16. Barring some freakish bad performance at the combine, Johnson is the best player in this draft. Also, if Williams put up the numbers he did last year, wouldnt Edwards projected numbers be better? Also my preference for the Bears is to sign WR in FA, and draft Johnson at 4. Urlacher, Briggs, Johnson is something to dream about. SB
  17. Meant Charles, Carlos is the Auburn CB, hehe. Addison, I agree that the combine will be what determines which will get selected where. But there is one downside, if Williams were to run a 4.4, I sadly think a team will trade to 3 and take him. Its a hard position to be in. SB
  18. Everyone keeps saying Williams size: Williams Edwards Williams is 6'5, Edwards 6'3 Williams 230, Edwards 215 Williams supposedly has lost about 20lbs to make him faster because scouts were talking about him having to transition to TE in the NFL. Williams does have better hands, thats why he is projected to be like Keyshawn. I really am high on Williams as well, I hope that he some how pushes his 40 time under Edwards, or else I just do not think the Bears will be able to rationalize taking Williams over Edwards. And Id rather have Fitz, Rogers, Johnson, and Roy over Mike. SB
  19. You rank Mike Williams above... Fitzgerald and Roy Wiliams of 2004 Carlos Rogers and Andre Johnson of 2003 I would say all 4 of those guys would have been drafted higher than M. Williams, last year he was ranked below both Fitz and Roy. Also think barring Williams running a sub 4.5 and Edwards running a plus 4.5 that Edwards will be drafted first. I like Williams, probably would draft him over Edwards, but I do not think that is the general consensus. SB
  20. The Illini defense is underrated. Wisconsin has to make some adjustments or they could lose to the Illini for a third time in the Big 10 tournament. Thought Wisconsin could of done better, but they never seemed to get anything set on offense. Congrats, barring a major choke you will be undefeated going into the Big 10 tourney. SB
  21. If the Bears are serious about being an organization, and Lovie Smith thinks he is a real coach who can handle a player, there is no reason to believe that they can help Moss become a better team player. Lovie has always been a "players" coach, where as Tice's teams have generally been filled with malcontents. The fact is, when Randy is on the field, he does what has to be done. SB
  22. Its probably been printed for atleast a week. You cant just print hundreds of thousands of books over night. SB
  23. Welcome to the NY Times best seller list Mr. Canseco. Also, I cant believe at this point MLB is not trying to get some sort of temporary injunction on the release of this book. SB
  24. Merriman will not last until 20. Ive seen mocks (GBN) that have Detriot taking him at 10. As for Crennel, that is just my opinion on what he will do. If I was a defensive oriented coach I would not start my career drafting an offensive guy. He may not agree, but I think that you can get some valuable Qb's later on (2nd round etc), where as Johnson or Rolle are immediate impact players. SB
  25. If you have an opening because of some one not rejoining, I would be glad to throw my hat in the ring to take their place. SB
