  1. I didnt see that they had shifted for Hafner, otherwise that is pretty much a tailor made DP ball. It still should of been 1 out, which means coupled with the Everett debacle El Duque was forced to get 5 batters out. Not an easy accomplishment. SB
  2. How many outs does El Duque need to get? Everett's was an easy fly ball. Uribe blew a double play. He does not need to settle down, the defense needs to apologize and beg him for forgiveness. SB
  3. The worst part is this inning should of never happened. Uribe blew that play. SB
  4. Bonderman is a lh pitcher? He must be damn good to be one of the top 3 lefties, yet only use his rh? Bonderman Bonderman Age: 22 Height: 6-2 Weight: 220 lbs. Bats: Right Throws: Right Pos: SP SB
  5. In 2008 I simmed the majority of my games, I played the first game of the season, a few games against the Cubs and Twins, etc. My record was: 120-42 SB
  6. He actually says that he is simming, which means it does not matter what level its on, the computer is in control. I agree that it is an accomplishment to build your team up to that type of dynasty. Winning 120 simmed games is very difficult, even pitchers like Peavy lose so you have to build a well balanced team. SB
  7. Hindsight is 20/20, but Marte v. Sizemore is a much better match up, and then Marte can go another inning. SB
  8. Good work Shingo! And the reason why i dont like bringing in a closer with a man on base is that they dont have a chance to get into the flow of the game, and can be beat by 1 bad pitch. Where as Marte already had made a few pitches. Just personal preference. The easiest save op for Shingo was the one he blew. SB
  9. You dont want to bring a closer in after men are on base. That is just a recipe for destroying some ones confidence. (Edit) Omg so Ozzie went ahead and did this? I was just saying it rhetorically, damnit. Hopefully Shingo does the job, but damn Ozzie is not great with a pitching staff. SB
  10. Can we get a dp from martinez on first pitch slider inside on the hands? That would be great. SB
  11. Id go with Shingo. He has a whole 2 blown saves in over a full season of being a closer. Hermanson had 4 last year alone. ::Shrugs:: SB
  12. You have to use Shingo here. He was beat by 3 solo shots, the wind is blowing in... Also hes the closer, we can not afford to start tinkering this early in the year. SB
  13. At All-Star mode, all settings normal the game is pretty easy. Pretty much every time I shut out the computer or give up 2-3 runs if Im way ahead and just start to play around with my pitches. As for walking, I could probably walk more, but every one of my players are paid to hit the ball, so the games I play and dont sim, I generally put the ball into play the first pitch or so. Stealing is a real b**** though, even my runners with +95 speed get caught more times than they should when I have a 2 step lead and have them start as soon as possible. Im planning on moving to MVP soon, although All-Star is pretty enjoyable. SB
  14. I have always thought Crede was a good defensive 3b. You win some, you lose some. SB
  15. Worst collapse? What about last year when Jose dropped the pop up against the Twins. This is the f***ing first series of the year. OMG our 2nd year manager made a rookie mistake using his pitchers, our team is dead now. Yesterday the Indians lost a game that by the same standards they should have won, today we our losing a game that we should have won. SB
  16. Our bullpen is fine. Cotts, Marte, Politte pitched 1/3 of an inning each. (Marte and Politte each threw less than 6 pitches) Hermanson pitched 1 inning. (14 pitches) The problem is that Ozzie used 3 pitchers in 1 inning, when you could of probably only used 1 (Marte for 3 hitters or Cotts as they are both lefties), and we would have Politte and another ready for now. Just never thought wed blow a 3 run lead. SB
  17. I think control not velocity is the most important trait for a closer. Otherwise we could just call up Bobby Jenks and let him unleash his fastball. SB
  18. Why is everyone worried about Shingo's confidence? He played a whole year of MLB and did pretty well. He is Japan's all time saves leader. You dont think hes blown a save before? Everyone has a bad outing, atleast we are still tied. SB
  19. SS can not cover 3b very well on a steal. It would be a foot race between Rowand and SS to 3rd base, also it would leave a huge whole in the middle of the infield. Rowand starts to go towards 3rd, SS moves towards 3rd, now you have the SS and 3b in almost the same defensive position. All Harris has to do is hit the ball hard to the left side and game over. A bunt down the 3b line it is almost impossible to get the runner at 3rd. The 3rd basemens job is to get the runner at 1st, then you can walk the next guy to get force outs, and DP chance. SB
  20. Boone can not stand that close, because Rowand can just steal 3rd. SB
  21. I hate to say it, but that just shows how jaded your opinion is. I do not think I have seen a man from 2b score tagging outside of little league, or some freak accident where the OF falls down, hurts himself and then another OF has to come out and get the ball. Even if the OF is the worst in baseball, he still gets it into the IF by the time Rowand is at 3rd. I would venture to guess that the throw from the cut off the grass will be faster to home than Rowand from 3rd. But then again I guess its possible Rowand is fast enough to tag up from 3b on a pop up to short? SB
  22. All I know is that Wisconsin should be solid again. Hopefully Butch will show why he was a McDonald's selection, it will hurt to lose Morely who I do not see being replaced, and a guy like Clayton Hanson who can shoot threes and give great defense. But we have a good recruiting class in 2005, and I believe that in 2006 we have some other good names that are interested in Wisconsin. And if you are interested in the success of team first coaches, you should look no farther than Bo Ryan. He does not have the most talented teams, but he gets the most out of what he has. And can some one give me a heads up on Wisconsin potential 2006 class? Thanks, SB
  23. I am not an Illini fan, so I will substitute Wisconsin for the question. I would trade a Wisconsin basketball Championship for a White Sox world Series. I would trade a Wisconsin football Championship for a White Sox world series. (To me Football championship is > Basketball Championship.) I would trade the year where Dane broke the all-time record, where Wisconsin won the Rose Bowl, where Wisconsin went to the Final Four, for a White Sox World Series. The White Sox are my favorite team, they were my favorite team before I even imagined going to college. They were the team that my dad would send me box scores when I was at over night camp. This is an easy question for me. SB
  24. Williamson. Although I think in reality if Rolle dropped this far a team would trade up and grab him. Prior to Pac Man jumping up draft boards for no reason (this was prior to both Rolle and Pac Man's work up), Rolle was considered a lock for the top 5, and some saying he could go 1. I cant even imagine sitting in the middle of the 1st round and seeing that both Rolle and Rogers would be there. SB
  25. No doubt Surtain is worth more than a 4, it just shows that when you are trading for picks, you generally do not get value in return. Sure there have been some Herschel Walker trades, but for every one of those there is a Corey Dillon for a 2nd, etc. SB
