  1. Sox need to make some changes. First, Konerko looks absolutely horrible. Totally lost, and yet Ozzie keeps playing him. Konerko has to sit for a week. I don't care if Frank plays first, or Gload. Konerko is hurting this team, just like last year. Crede is not far behind. His last at bat Sunday was useless. He needs a mid-May vacation. Sit them both for at least the Baltimore series. Then there is Rowand. He looks lost, too. Wake up call. He needs to be told that he is one bad game away from a trip to Charlotte. I'm serious. f***ing Charlotte. Is it just a coincidence that these three guys are hitting 6-7-8 in the order? They are the antithesis of a Murderer's Row. How can you expect to win when you have three slugs in a row like that. Anyone can go 0 for four, but those three guys look awful. Lethargic. They should all sit for a week to wake them up.
  2. My favorite poster on this board, second favorite, that is, is aboz56. Those daily updates that you provide on Anderson, Sweeney, Reed, and what's his name is great. I don't know how you do it computer-wise, but please don't tell me, just keep it up.
  3. Most people, includng me, like the Hawkisms. Even though he is a homer, he still will criticize Sox people. He got on JM 2002, saying something to the effect that he did a poor job. This time he got on Alomar for call ing for a chaange up when Cotts looked very good with his fastball, but he went on to describe the hitter's "slow swing." Before the home run. Over the years he has been on the Sox for poor defense. Hawk is one of the best (announcers).
  4. They are both on the low side of the income/food chain. Not an issue. Olivo played the night before.
  5. As a General Manager, Hawk was a great announcer.
  6. Rex, is that where you get your material?
  7. Right after Cotts threw that gopher ball, DJ questioned the pitch call by Alomar, a change up after Cotts was doing so well with his heater. Good for DJ.
  8. Baseball has never allowed trading draft picks. When we had our last CBA negotiation (2002???), the owners werre supposedly going to get tough on drafting foreign players, but they got caught up in the steroid issue and capitulated like a bunch of morons. It blows my mind that we draft American kids, but if were lucky enough to be born elsewhere, you go to the highest bidder. No one group of people are dumber that baseball owners.
  9. Josh Rupe, Anthony Webster, and Tim Bittner are all having solid seasons with their respective minor league teams. Royce Ring has been so-so so far this year. Matt Ginter has been pitching very well for the Mets AAA team.
  10. I knew Flash gordon, and Cliff Politte is no Flash Gordon.
  11. Please don't mention Carl Everett. Kenny gave up way too much for him last year, do you want him to do it again this year.
  12. What blows my mind is that we gave him $5MM when we didn't have to. No one else was going to give it to him. To use a phrase from the Frank Thomas notebook, Jose's skills have diminished.
  13. And what do we give up? Kenny scares the s*** out of me.
  14. He got off to a predictable s***ty start. .212 average after 99 at bats. Anybody want to guess who was the first person on this board to say he wasn't going to make it. What year will the Sox give up on him?
  15. Okay, Cheat, you and I know the Koch was not going to get Raffy out. I wonder if either Ozzie or Koch knew it.
  16. Back to Uribe................... I said in ST that Uribe would win the shortstop job in one month.
  17. The best thing Koch did was walking Raffy. No way he was going to get him out.
  18. Last year we overpaid for Everett and Robbie. I can't imagine the fleecing Eddie would take if he traded for Beltran.
  19. We will get a draft pick for him, too.
  20. If we bring up Reed, it might wake up Aaron Rowand. When I have seen him, he has not looked good this year. Swings late, looks undisciplined. Plus, it looks as if he has gained some weight. Steroids? Timo has no future with the Sox. I would send him down and bring up Reed. If not now, certainly by the end of May.
  21. I'd like to get Hawk and Marriotti in the same room and, you know, see what happens. Maybe he would pinch his head off.
  22. I don't like Marriotti's style of writing. We have a guy in Denver who is even worse, believe it or not. But really, do you like Ozzie whining about what does or doesn't get printed? I don't. Just play the game and manage the game, and if we make the playoffs we'll get all the ink we need. Marriotti probably reads this board once in a while, and I bet he loves it when he pisses you guys off. Don't give him the satisfaction.
  23. You, know, there is no law against keeping Kelly at Charlotte all season.
