Posts like these remind me how stupid General managers are. Jason, when you become a Gm, will you become so dumb?

Scott Boras Client List
4.00% is standard. A-Rod's contract was $250,000,000 and Agent Boras got $10MM up front.

Scott Boras Client List
Those seven players could get contracts totaling $500,000,000. Half a Billion. At 4.00% commission, uh, where's my calculator? $20,000,000. Up front.

Well, that didn't last long in Arizona
Somewhere Rex Hudler is very sad.

Sox to play Rockies for the first time in 2005
I'll be there. I know it's way too early, but I can get a luxury suite for a game or two if there is any interest.

Wally Backman new D-Backs Skipper
Somewhere out there Rex is a happy man.

Brian Anderson breaks out of slump
I hope Anderson makes it to ST without being traded.

Joey Cora
His mistakes always seemed to be when he waved Gload in. I don't remember the details, but at the time it struck me as a poor move. Hawk sure likes Joey. But you know that if someone is considering him for mgr, it's partly because he will be cheap.

Rockies Players Available
The Denver Post reported today that the Rockies are shopping both outfielder Preston Wilson and pitcher Bobby Chacon. Preston Wilson, who had two knee surguries this year, can flat play, if healthy. He has a huge contract that the Rockies had to take when they got rid of Mike Hampton, but the Rocks would probably give him away and pay half his salary, like they did with Walker and will do with Charles Johnson if anyone wants him. I think he is due to make $12MM, which is another testamonial to the stupidity of General Managers in general, but that's another subject. IF his knee is okay, he would supply a lot of offense, good right field defense, and he hustles, and he would put our other overweight outfielder on the bench. Chacon had a horrible year, yet he has big league stuff. He is second year arbitration eligible, and the rocks think he would command $3MM or so, and they need to get rid of him. If used correctly, he is a lot better than some of the guys we used this year.

Wally Backman
Wally is reported to be one of three finalists for the Arizona manager's gig. He managed their Class A team in Lancaster this year.

Javier Vasquez
Speaking of Giambi, I don't think the Yanks have given up on him for 2005. Or have they? If they think Giambi can come back, they have no interest in PK. If not, they will.

Keith Foulke
I think Kenny should be villified for that trade. Foulke was better than Koch, and then Kenny made it worse by giving Koch a $12MM 2-year contract. We traded Foulke, who was better and signed, for Koch, who was worse and unsigned. I didn't get it then, and I don't get it now. I always thought that Kenny was pissed at Foulke for being out-negotiated (in Kenny's eyes) by Foulke's agent, and he wanted to get rid of him. Trading him created a hole in the bullpen, and he filled it with a guy who couldn't get anyone out. I know Foulke had a few bad games in early 2002, but he was very effective in the last part of his final season with us. Heck, Mariano Rivera blew a few games, too. I am all for villifying Kenny. For that trade, for the Ritchie trade, for the embarrassing Berry/Barry trade, for the Everett fiasco, and probably for trading Jeremy Reed, although we must wait a year to be sure on that one. Ritchie killed the Sox in '02 and Koch did the same in '03. No one would have won with those guys pitching for them. They were both the product of Kenny's misjudgement. Plus he overpaid for guys like Jose, although that transgression is a bit minor on the scale of things.

Jermaine Dye and Cristian Guzman
Royce Clayton is available. The Rockies told him he won't be starting in Denver next year, so he should look elsewhere if he wants to start. That would give you guys something to talk about.

White Sox farm system rated among baseball's best
That was the first time I saw that list. Kenny likes to trade prospects.

Maggs gone-100%
Arbitration: Why the owners let themselves get painted into that corner is something I'll never understand, and then they had a chance to change it in the last collective bargaining agreement, and all they could talk about was steroids.

White Sox farm system rated among baseball's best
I think that list represents trading material for Kenny.

Final Word on the Sox
I gotta say.......or ask......how much intelligence does it take to write an article like that.? Why is it posted here? How do these guys get their jobs? What does that guy do at night after he writes that small-minded crap? He can't possibly tell his wife or significant other how smart he is, can he? I feel dumber when I read stuff like that.

The Most Annoying Sports Announcer?
Wrong. Well, partly wrong. Fisk did exactly as you said in the regular season. McCarver stood up to Sanders in the clubhouse when the Braves were celebrating a playoff victory. Earlier in the series McCarver had rightfully criticized Sanders for lack of hustle and poor defense, and Sanders tried to get back by dumping water on McCarver as he was interviewing other players. He did not do it playfully. After the third time, McCarver called him out on live TV and challenged him to "fight like a man" right then and there. I have liked McCarver ever since. Sanders was and is a jerk.

The Most Annoying Sports Announcer?
You guys can say what you want (negatively) about Tim McCarver, but I will always remember him and admire him for the way he stood up to Dion Sanders on National TV (live) and challenged him lto fight right then and there, and Neon Dion slinked away.
