  1. Trade deadline time makes me laugh. I heard that Crede could be moved allowing Fields to be called up /green
  2. No blame. It's a smart move by the Braves, its just the Red Sox aren't stupid, just like Kenny wasn't last week.
  3. I'm sorry. You don't go from valueing Coco Crisp as a guy who can have you Mark Buehrle and then offer him along with Hansen, who would immediately close for that team, for Andruw Jones. You just don't, and as I mentioned, all local media, which in Boston is far more knowledgable than say Buster Olney, I tend to believe this was a proposal from the Braves that the Red Sox shot down without hesitation, and that is that.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If they got Crisp, Hansen and Lester I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I don't know if they could get all that. Thats a fair trade considering the type of talent Jones is. Its a lot to give up as well if your the Red Sox. But if your the Braves and are going to move a star you better get a lot in return. I think thats a miserable trade for the Red Sox, one of the reasons why no local Boston media outlet is picking up on it. You don't trade three major league ready, top flight talents for Andruw Jones. I have full confidence that if Jones is acquired, only one at the most of these three will be included.
  5. The Braves offered Andruw Jones to the Red Sox for Coco Crisp, Jon Lester, and Craig Hansen. The Red Sox didn't hesitate to reject this offer and close off all talks with the Braves. What are the Braves thinking?
  6. I'm not familiar with Thomas Pauley, but David Pauley cannot touch the upper 90's. He's more your low-nineties fastball, with a solid change and curveball complimenting it. So I'm guessing they are infact different.
  7. Adding Lidge makes the rotation better aswell, especially if the premise of the deal is Javier Vazquez, allowing McCarthy to switch permanently.
  8. The Astros wouldn't take on that kind of salary. Even the Tejada proposals had about the same money being shifted between teams.
  9. rotoworld: The Houston Chronicle's Richard Justice reports that Astros owner Drayton McLane has ordered GM Tim Purpura to trade Brad Lidge. The Rangers are the team getting mentioned in connection with Lidge, but if he has to go, there will be more interested parties, starting with the Mets and Red Sox. The Astros could turn over closing duties to Dan Wheeler if they move Lidge.
  10. If they trade Oswalt for prospects, Clemens will almost certainly be traded aswell.
  11. Jason Schmidt Contract: 4 years/$30M (2002-05), plus $10.5M 2006 club option club exercised $10.5M 2006 option 10/05 $7.75M signing bonus (paid over 4 years, 02-05) 02:$4M, 03:$5.75M, 04:$8.5M, 05:$8.75M, 06:$10M club option ($3M buyout) $50,000 All Star incentive 1 year/$3.2M (2001), plus $0.8M in incentives agent: Alan Hendricks ML service: 10.063
  12. Youkilis is better suited at the hot corner, in my opinion. Theo has coveted Shealy for almost a full year now, or atleast thats what I gather from the constant trade rumors regarding him. A quote from the Globe, this morning: "Padres special assignment scout Ted Simmons was still in town checking out the Sox, but Boston has indicated it won't move Kevin Youkilis. Sources were indicating the deal, if consummated, would have the Sox getting Devil Rays shortstop Julio Lugo and Padres righty setup man Scott Linebrink, with Mike Lowell heading to San Diego and Tampa Bay receiving prospects from Boston." Perhaps all this means, is that the Red Sox could be making some major changes, but all these potential deals are riding on one another. Theo also covets Lugo, and perhaps he is thinking the money that is going to Lowell right now could be used to resign Lugo if Lowell is infact shipped to San Diego. Just speculation, but what else is there to do, I certainly won't be able to sleep tonight. - Lowell to San Diego for Linebrink - Abe Alvarez to Colorado for Ryan Shealy (rumored for weeks now) - Mark Loretta to *enter team in need of a second baseman here* for prospects - prospects to Tampa Bay for Julio Lugo C: Jason Varitek 1b: Ryan Shealy 2b: Julio Lugo ss: Alex Gonzalez, Dustin Pedroia 3b: Kevin Youkilis lf: Manny Ramirez cf: Coco Crisp rf: Trot Nixon, Wily Mo Pena dh: David Ortiz Quite a bit of change for a team in first place, but if you had asked me two years ago to the second if Garciaparra would be traded shortly thereafter, I certainly wouldn't have said it was likely. One more thought. The injury to Nixon in tonights game could make Wily Mo untradeable and possibly end all of this trade talk. We'll know more on that shortly, I'm assuming.

  14. No, the Yankees haven't forced the White Sox to do anything. They could make a move to upgrade a team that has struggled of late, but it won't be because of what the Yankees did today. Kenny Williams isn't dumb. If he was, Buehrle would have been in a Red Sox uniform last week.
  15. Three way's are always good, whatever way you look at it. Boston Herald: The Red Sox are attempting to strike a three-way deal with the Rockies and Padres, with third baseman Mike Lowell perhaps shipped out of town and first baseman Ryan Shealy arriving here from the Rockies. The Sox also would presumably obtain a more-than-reputable starter. Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox starter David Pauley also was mentioned as part of the Red Sox’ package, although the right-hander was roughed up yesterday, hitting four batters and allowing five runs, three earned, in four innings in the PawSox’ 9-5 loss to Buffalo at McCoy Stadium.
  16. Ken Rosenthal writes that the Orioles and Astros had a deal on the table that would've sent Roy Oswalt, Adam Everett and a third player to Baltimore for Miguel Tejada, but it was killed by Peter Angelos. *** The Orioles are the worst run franchise in baseball. Two deals that favored the Orioles were both shot down.
  17. Thats the funniest thing I've ever seen.
  18. With the Braves flopping this week, there is a good chance Jones could be dealt. He'd look real good in a White Sox uniform.
  19. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wouldn't go as far as saying this is a desperate team either. Sure this team needs some help but he's not going to pull a move off that will end up hurting the Sox, not that this deal would. He's sitting "no," there is no reason not to propose this deal even if the chance of the White Sox accepting it is slim and none.
  20. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> cept you and theo obviously forgot the part where KW is not a moron... Not necessarily a moron, but is the general manager of a desperate team.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This makes sense. I thought Theo lost his mind if he wanted Vazquez or Garcia for Crisp, or a minor leaguer, or middle reliever. I'm sure he knew there was no chance KW would say yes, but I guess he figured he might as well give it a shot. Precisely. It's worth taking a shot on.
  22. If the White Sox ride this victory to the playoffs, you should all have a special place in your heart for Ross Gload. What a ballgame, probably the most important hit of the season thus far.
  23. Gordon Edes: "The Sox this week offered center fielder Coco Crisp to the White Sox for left-handed All-Star Mark Buehrle, perhaps hoping that Buehrle's recent struggles might persuade White Sox GM Kenny Williams to move him. But the White Sox turned the deal down." *** Podsednik and a prospect? When you get a chance pass the crack pipe.
  24. Soriano isn't coming to the White Sox. Good riddance, this team needs pitching.
