QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 10, 2006 -> 06:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can you post the link to that "fact".... TIA. You're right, Steff. All signs point to Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter being best of friends.
-
The fact that Jeter doesn't like A-Rod is pretty pathetic. As the captain, whether you like the person or not, you're aren't doing your job unless get your teammates ready to go. Perhaps Derek Jeter as the captain is the problem in New York, not that he isn't a hell of a kid, but he's a horrible leader.

Still, quite the prediction cheat.

QUOTE(bulokis @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> With that thought, is Luis Castillo a free agent this year? He would look good with us but I know we have Iguchi. I'd imagine his 5.75 million dollar option will be picked up next year.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's amazing to me the NFL is so popular. The games and product are a mediocre suckfest to be honest, and the only teams I've seen all year that looked like they were any more than mediocre are the Bears, Chargers, Eagles, Colts, and Jaguars. That leaves 27 of 32 teams. Ouch. The Patriots haven't looked good, yet the Colt's who are coming from behind and playing like dog s*** are on your list. I'd say there is 3-4 good teams in the NFC: Chicago, Philly, Dallas, Seattle. And numerous good teams in the AFC: Indy, Jaxsonville, New England, San Diego, Denver, Baltimore, etc.

This seems to be the White Sox Catch All-Thread at the moment, so I'll post this here. The White Sox went from 9th to 3rd in Runs and 1st to 10th in ERA from 2005 to 2006. It's clear that the pitching was a major problem, so I am in no way placing much blame on the offensive side of things, however... When you have a line-up with Konerko, Thome, and Dye would you rather surround them with players who get on base or guys who play all or nothing style baseball as the White Sox had. I ask this because everybody seems so high on Crede here, but if the White Sox 7-8-9 hadn't gotten on base at such a low clip (.323, .290, .257 respectively) I happen to believe that this team would have been a better all around baseball team. Rally Crede, his great defense, I'm trying not to be close minded here, I just happen to think in a line-up full of big boppers, you need the table setters to, and the demise of the 2006 White Sox could be somewhat credited to the lack of the Bill Mueller's for the Red Sox in '04, the Castillo's and Lowell's of the '03 Marlins, the David Eckstein's and Scott Spiezio's of the '02 Angels and so on.. Thoughts.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For example...Mike Cameron is still around. Good defensively..sometimes a liability offensively, but he keeps getting jobs because he can get to the ball. THAT'S why Anderson is not a reserve outfielder. and you can't judge a player based on one year that he was handled very well. Put him in a situation where he can succeed and build his confidence and he turns into your CF for years to come. Mike Cameron has been a pretty solid offensive player through out his career, always gets on-base, always has some pop, always provides some speed. Anderson brought nothing to the table on the offensive side of things, and showed little to prove me that that will change in the future. Of course, players do take time to develop..

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't catch the label of the Champagne, but after the White Sox swept your Red Sox last year ( ) they were drinking Barefoot Cellars Champagne, which is only around $9 a bottle. Cheap bastids..
-
I was under the impression that his deal lasted until through 2010. I was wrong. Nonetheless, you think he'd pass up $13 million in '09 and retire?
-
Do you project Anderson as anything more than a reserve outfielder having seen him perform this season or what?
-
I agree it might be wise to trade Thome or Konerko for that matter considering the amount of money they are making and the years left on their respective deals, but like dorf, I just think its extremely unlikely that Thome or Konerko are in another uniform in 2009 or 2010 no less 2007.

I love how Steve Phillips says that the Yankees lost because of a lack of starting pitching. Thats right, Steve, blame the starting pitching for the Yankees not scoring a run in 20+ straight innings.
-
I never understood how so many people on Sox Talk justified his terrible season by saying he played better in the last month or two of the season. Since when does only 25% of the season count?
-
Joe Crede is extremely overrated on these boards, good point s=d.
-
I was at the game against the Angels where Haeger made his first start. I was rather impressed with his knuckleball, having seen Wakefield pitch on numerous occassions, however, Pierzynski's troubles catching him could become problematic next season.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 10:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Crede isn't a free agent after the 2007 season. Interesting. Why is everybody so concerned with Boras being his agent then?

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well woopdy freaking doo for the red sox..... Shut up. Offer something to thread or don't say anything at all. You know full well that I was suggesting the White Sox look after him as Cotts replacement. Pathetic.
-
I really want the Red Sox to go after J.C. Romero to be a lefty specialist..
-
I'd rather Crede be involved in this deal than Fields. Otherwise Crede will just leave via free agency in a year and the White Sox will be left without anybody at the hot corner.
-
Perhaps Stone Cold Steve Austin was acquired in an offseason deal, but for whom..
-
It was overblown, but I definitly got a kick out of Rogers spraying the crowd and then FOX panning to Zumaya and there he is chugging down both bottles of champagne. I got a question. How much do you think those bottles of champagne are?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> BTW, I'd like to add that I'm very happy Marty finally let Rivers throw the darn ball. I still think Phillip is going to be one hell of a qb. There's just something about him, on the sidelines or on the field, that screams out to me that he's going to be a hell of a QB in the future.
-
The whole leaving the team and that previous team becoming better nonsense is all coincidence, nothing more. Alex Rodriguez is a hell of a ball player, if you have a chance to get him while he's at his lowest, you go out and you get him. Regardless of how poorly he did in the post season this year.

Whats the deal with WWE's Raw having a season premiere? Since when did wrestling have an offseason, I'm so confused. ha.
