I'm assuming Carlos Lee never talked to Juan Gonzalez. Although my guess is they'll be talking over brunch about how they really spiff the bed in terms of passing up excellent deals.

Why can't the White Sox get guys like that?

That is unbelievable. Clearly she's freakin' insane, she killed her freakin' kids. Thats ridiculous.

Royals Acquire Perez; Ship Out Dessens
redandwhite replied to redandwhite's topic in The Diamond Club
One former Red Sox for another former Red Sox. I can't even believe it was De La Rosa that was one of the mainstays of the Schilling trade. -
The staff doesn't need to be fired, it's the minds above that have turned the station into an MTV-like dramafest.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But it's perfectly fine when any other manager in baseball does it. Guess the f what, it was his team, let him pick who he wants to pick. The AL won, I don't care how ugly it was, the AL won...that's all that matters. Not attacking the messenger red, thanks for posting...people just piss me off. I've been a FireJoeMorgan fan for a while now, and as you know, I've never been very high on Ozzie Guillen as a manager. I guess the reason for posting it is to show just how foolish and ignorant Ozzie looks from some of those direct quotes. Although I guess Terry Francona poking fun of how Kevin Youkilis looks in the shower is pretty darn foolish too.

Sox get Mike MacDougal for Tyler Lumsden and Daniel Cortes
redandwhite replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Moore came on 810 radio in Kansas City according to a Royals board and said that Lumsden would be given every chance to come out and snag a starting pitcher spot. -

QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Unless those are good spects, I wouldn't like this deal too much if I were a Royals fan. That's a big contract to play games with when you have salary constraints like theirs. The Royals recieved $8 million dollars in this transaction. That leaves the Royals on the hook for about 2 million this season, 3-4 next season, with a 1.5 million dollar buyout. The Royals really did well here. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sadly for the Royals, I don't think anyone will. He's hurt until after the deadline. There's a chance for a waiver deadline deal with him. And the reason they're making decent moves all of a sudden is almost certainly their new GM. He won't end the season a Royal, he'll go to a desperate team in August. I actually think thats kind of unfair to Baird. From Peter Gammons article shortly after he was fired: Everything I've read about Baird lately, and its been quite a bit since he's tagged along as a scout for the Red Sox is that he's a classy, stand up, knowledgable guy that was just in a crappy situation in Kansas City. It's good to see Glass actually spending a little money to take a chance on Perez, it's good for baseball if the Royals actually become competitive in the next few years. -
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=25...&type=story Good trade for the Royals. Perez was due for a change of scenery, and if he can put 'it' back together, he could be a real valuable trade chip a year from now. The Royals seem to be making some decents moves of late, I wonder who will overpay for Sanders.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Beckett is alot better against NL teams and AL teams who haven't seen him yet compare to Vazquez. Overall Beckett has been better this year, but not by much. Vazquez also get 1/10 of the hype Mister Blister gets too. Vazquez has had one "good" year in the last four and it was for a mediocre national league team. Beckett has had "good" years pretty much his entire career, including exceptional years between 2003-present. He's three years younger than Vazquez, has proven himself as an elite pitcher on the center stage, and makes a fraction of what Vazquez makes. Vazquez doesn't deserve any hype. He's been a below average pitcher this year, Beckett has not.

Well, the majors first thirteen game winner, outpitches zito in oakland. Everybody here's right though, he sucks, he's hanging on to one good start.

Jason, Any reason why you are so high on Lumsden? No one seems as high on him as you seem to be. I'm quite curious. -
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I still think you were rightly ripped for that. No one is giving you Milledge for Garcia. That he might be moved for someone else isn't what you were arguing. Bobby Abreu?
-
I remember a week ago when I was ripped to shreds for suggesting a milledge for garland/garcia trade. Everyone on hear saying he's 'not going anywhere' or he's 'off limits' show to be obscurd. He'll be traded, I'd just be surprised if Jason Stark is right, and Abreu is who they get for him.. Unless the Phillies trade Brett Myers too.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good news: The Red Sox are stuck with Josh Beckett for 3 more years. stuck? Any White Sox fan in there right mind would take him in a heartbeat at those dollar amounts.

I am going to be buying a car, and dont know as much as I'd like to about cars in general. All I really know is, I have a $15,000 dollar limit, and I need a sedan type car with top of the line gas mileage. Should I be used? Should I buy new? At a Dealership? With a private seller? How's Carmax? What type of cars should I be looking at? I'm kind of partial to Nissan Maxima's, but have heard that Toyota Corolla's get excellent gas mileage. Any suggestions are appreciated.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are all the players in the game fake or can you actually get the real players? You download a roster patch and all the players are real. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have heard good things about Baseball Mogul and Out of the Park Baseball. Which one is the best? I think its a no brainer..

I highly recommend it. The new version is spectacular. It's realistic, it's entertaining, it's loads of fun. I love it, much more than I did/do 3d video games. I have heard of some minor troubles for Macs, as it is there first time making it available for Mac users, but all minor problems will be fixed as time goes on. You just have to download the updated patches and check out the site.

I was under the impression that arbitration eligible players' salaries cannot more than double. Therefore, Crede will get a shade under six, that is if his contract doubles.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly. Being a Boston fan is more than enough reason to ban someone.. Well then like a said, make it a private forum.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it wasnt erroneous in context... ok maybe the wsi reference was - but my primary point was to praise the mods here. i think that was obvious. I'm saying some of the mods here ban people for no reason whatsoever, and that those few moderators shouldn't be moderating a board because of it. That was obvious, I just disagree.
-
QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> unlike wsi, the mods here are really great - and don't ban people unless they truly deserve it... Erroneous. By the way, some of these are excellent rules. Jason's dream is to become fixated in the sports world, can you imagine someone coming to Jason's site and seeing... "THE f***ING WHITE SOX WON! f*** THE RED SOX! f*** THERE FANS! f***! f***! f***! WE WON YOU c*** f*** BALLS b**** DUMBASS f***!" ...after each time the White Sox win. And then discuss how badly the other team got 'f***ed up.' It's just so stupid. Good stuff, Jason.

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Still if Milledge isn't in the deal, forget it. Thats why I think the Mets are in no position to not put him in the deal. The Mets have a chance at a World Series right now. They need pitching, the best pitchers available are on the White Sox. I feel like they are almost inclined to trade Milledge because they really have nothing else to offer.
