  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You have no idea what is called in the huddle. Did you ever play basketball? Plays break down all the time. We don't have a true PG (although I love Chet's heart, and yes this is Weber's fault) which makes things break down. On the last play Frazier picked up his dribble to soon, and then threw it to Pruitt. If you watched, screens were set initially for McBride, he didn't get open. Nobody moved to the ball. But yeah, that is Weber's fault. Bad coaches don't win as many games as Weber has won in the last 6 years. And your hypocrisy towards Weber vs. Belichick is laughable at best. A lot of coach's could have done what Weber's done with the talent he's had. Talent wise, this is an Illinois squad that's "down" so to speak, as is Indiana. Nonetheless, in a down year, Sampson has revived his troops and turned this team into a real contender in the Big Ten when at the beginning of the year people said it was a two team conference. I have played basketball, I'm well aware that plays break down. However, I don't believe these two plays can be excused. Both plays were failures on the inbounds play, luckily one resulted in the open look, still from three when shooting from behind the arch wasn't necessary. No hypocrisy at all. My opinion of Belichick is what it is because I've met the man before and I've never seen someone do as he did with me. He took down my address and sent me and my two brothers personalized autograph's because all we had were random pieces of paper. Belichick loves to win, he shows class in doing so, and he gets pissed off when he doesn't. If you aren't that way, you don't belong on the field. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Let me also say, that they didn't show Weber not shake hands with the players but if it didn't happen I disagree with him on that. He has some pretty good reasons for not shaking hands with a couple of IU's assistants though. He ran off the court like a little b****. Atleast when Sampson was in Illinois, he didn't refuse an interview with ESPN despite knowing the abuse he'd receive from fans in the process. He's a snake.
  2. The guy racked up a lot of innings at a young age. If he isn't able to fulfill the expectations that I and everybody else once had for him, it will be a shame. He was a special kid, even if he was a Cub.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1st Rich got a wide open look that IU was extremely lucky didn't go down. The 5 second call was terrible. DJ wasn't close to him until for the couple of seconds and it wasn't anywhere close to 10 seconds. Secondly I find it funny that someone whose program has employed Bobby Knight and Kelvin Sampson would call Weber scum. Not to mention the way IU fans treated Mike Davis. Yeah you guys are full of class. This from the same guy who defended Bill Belichek after the Colts game. Whether or not he got an open look is irrelevant. If that was what Weber drew up, it's pathetic. Same with the second play. You come out of a time out, nobody is moving, and the guy has the ball for close to ten seconds being guarded for half of that? Please don't tell me you support those play calls and the play of your squad in the last minute. I could use a good laugh, but I don't want to s*** myself after the Chipotle I just ate. I never said IU fans were full of class. So don't put words in my mouth. I couldn't care less about IU students not showing class to Bruce Weber or Mike Davis. When you have 10k drunk kids in a building, I don't expect them to think things all the way through. Just as I expected Illinois students to unjustly poke fun of Kelvin Sampson. It's part of the game, it's what makes college basketball. So get off your high horse and make a post thats worth a damn.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are the biggest homer in the history of sports. Great post! Have fun in the NIT for the next few years or you explain what you disagree with and I'd be glad to continue this conversation without telling you how badly your team is going to suck for the next few years.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 02:54 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> this could be your best post ever. What a great read. This could be your best post ever. You're not complaining for a change.
  6. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 04:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bastard. You were the luckiest fan out of 17-plus thousand. I'd be telling the world. Nothing wrong with the shot given the circumstances.
  7. I love the Illini complainers. Bruce Weber had two chances to draw up a play and take the lead. One resulted in 15 seconds of passing back and forth right at the half court line that ended with a desperation three and the other was a clear five second call, probably closer to ten, in which no one moved. Not only he a poor sport, a complainer, a whiner, but the guy is just a flat out bad coach. I'm glad he didn't shake the hands of our players, I wouldn't want that filth and scum touching our guys' hands. Not to mention, our very own Zach Hansen shot the half court shot at halftime. I'll have him explain the rest. Haha.
  8. Really isn't much else to say. I've been optimistic about this team from the start, with the mindset that while we'll be an awful team this year, we're heading the right direction something that wasn't the case in years past. Good convo.
  9. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Problem is you're probably all alone on those ratings... We'll see in the future, when a deal is made, my friend.
  10. I stopped reading after you threw Tony Allen under a bus. You clearly don't watch enough Celtic basketball, which to be honest, I don't blame you for. This losing streak started when Allen went down. He's an Artest like defender and a better shooter. He doesn't have the size or strength that Artest has, but he's very comparable. Also, the Ratliff situation. He's signed for one more year. I imagined the deal taking place this offseason which means it would be expiring at the end of the season. Even if the trade were to be made near the deadline this year, a guy with only one more year left on his deal when guys like Brad Miller and Shareef Abdur-Rahim have 3+ makes a whole lot of sense. Basically. When talking about the Celtics. I'd rate Jefferson, Green, and Allen as great young talents. Gomes, Rondo, West, and Perkins as good talents who haven't been able to show consistency.
  11. 1 nomination. 1 win. Flawless. And whoever doesn't want to drink with me is foolish. Greasy, you're coming out tonight, damnit.
  12. Who else was she banging in the last year? I think we need Maury.
  13. As I said, the Bulls have some excellent young talent. However, if were talking about trades and being realistic in the process. The Bulls shouldn't trade Luol Deng, shouldn't trade Kirk Hinrich, shouldn't trade Ben Gordon (who I would give up in a heartbeat) or else the nucleus of that team will be disrupted. The Celtics won't trade Jefferson but beyond that, when talking about a realistic trade, the Celtics have more young talent able to be used as bait without disrupting the nucleus of the team. Point in case, the Bibby example I gave. P.S. Where are you seeing that Jefferson would have to be included in talks with Memphis? Throughout the summer when talks of Bibby first started, and from the draft until the night Iverson was traded Jefferson's name was never involved. I'd say at this point Pierce is traded before Jefferson, which is tough to say because Pierce is my all time favorite basketball player.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 05:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> so you agree that you were overstating yourself? I'm admitting I failed to clarify what I meant by most good young talent. Not an overstatement by any means. I'm sure many people make the same mistake running on fumes, writing a paper and studying for a test late at night. As good looking as I am, I'm human, baby.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 02:54 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Explain how they have the most "good young talent." I think Orlando has more young talent in one player than the Celtics have on their whole team. Oh, goodness. I completely agree. I'd take Dwight Howard over just about anybody in the league. My one and only point, which I think Sleepy missed initially, is that the Celtics don't have to give up that coveted first round pick as Pierce had asked for (for veteran help) because they have enough young talent, outside of the three key guys (Allen, Jefferson, Green) to land a guy like Mike Bibby when you also factor in the expiring contract of Theo Ratliff. Basically, I don't think the Celtics are too far off from being a contending team. Of course a lot of things have to fall into place, for instance ping pong balls, I just happen to believe the politics of the NBA (James miracously taking a franchise that was about to fold back to glory) will win out and the Celtics will be a team that will get either Oden or Durant. And when you couple in my plan, which I believe is also a plan of Danny's, the future looks rather bright, even when you're about to match the number of consecutive losses to championship banners later tonight. Bibby, Pierce, Sczerbiak, Jefferson, Oden or Bibby, Pierce, Sczerbiak, Durant, Jefferson. When you have a sixth man like Tony Allen, a stop gap full energy point guard in Rajon Rondo to back up, and a big, still improving body that is Kendrick Perkins. You have a roster that is a role player or two away from being a legit contender in that division. Lets not forget. Had the season ended 30 games into the season. The Celtics would have been the three seed. Well, the four seed with the new rules. Still, pretty astonishing.
  16. I bought tickets from a Soxtalker last year. We shared a beer, even though I was pretty much blacked out, exchanged tickets/money and we were on our wayward son. I'd like to drink with him. I won an award? Hell yeah.
  17. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 01:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So you're calling me ignorant and gay...Nice, good job of staying classy... No need to resort to silly name-calling just because you're flat-out wrong and too immature to realize it. You deserve it. If you arent going to debate or offer anything to the thread, then dont waste everybodys time. i'd be glad to discuss our differences of opinion, you just failed to say why your opinion differs and resorted to name calling, and at this time im not having it.
  18. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 01:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> lol... Your boston homerism knows no bounds. You're just being ignorant if you disagree. The Bulls have good young players, just not as many that could be used as trade bait, unless of course you want to disrupt the whole outlook of that team. But good one. You remind me of John Amaechi.
  19. QUOTE(T R U @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 11:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If the Celtics were smart they would trade Pierce and just rebuild.. Fire Ainge too How have they not "just rebuild(ed)" already? They have the most good young talent in the league. Pierce recommended trading the pick, but that makes zero sense. With as much talent as they have, you can trade some along with Theo Ratliff's expiring contract and get that solid veteran to accompany Pierce and either Oden or Durant. The Celtics, for as bad as they are right now, are in great shape to succeed in the future. A combination of Delonte West, Sebastian Telfair, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Kendrick Perkins along with Theo Ratliff could be extremely enticing for teams like Memphis (Gasol), Sacremento (Bibby), etc. The Celtics have been hard after a point guard for years, going hard after Bibby makes all too much sense. West, Telfair, Ratliff, first round pick in '08 for Bibby (money/filler would have to be added) You're looking at a line-up of: Bibby, Pierce, Sczerbiak, Durant, Jefferson Rondo, Allen, Green, Gomes, Perkins Of course you could get Sczerbiak and Brad Miller involved and it could get real interesting. Point is, the Celtics are in an extremely good position, talent wise, to return this franchise to glory. It'll just take time.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I misunderstood. SBT. Not a problem. Quick question. Did she have implants when she posed in playboy?
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 10:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm gonna go out on a limb here... but I bet when she is old enough to understand, her daughter wont agree. I was completely agreeing with how people should be just as sad/remorseful for Joe Schmo who died of cancer than for Anna Nicole Smith. Not that because I wasn't a fan of her as a celebrity I don't care that she's dead. You're right, even though it's no sweat off my back, I certainly am hoping and praying for that little girl.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> She would have cried for any of us that died and showed us a great deal of remorse, sadness, etc. She was famous for her boobs and nailing an old billionaire. Her contribution to society will not be missed, there will be a thousand people today that will die in anonymity who contributed more as a parent, teacher, community leader, etc. than her. I'm not saying that to disparage her, but to point out the celebrity worship this country is on. People jumping in to defend her and her life. Why? Because she was famous for being famous. I completely agree. I love the Cory Lidle situation. Everybody was so sad and so remorseful, but in the large scheme of things people unwillingly lose there lives every second of the day. As I type this for instance. I'm moreso interested in this story because it's quickly turning into a Forensic Files or a Cold Case type story, and I'm an avid fan of those types of shows.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As the "father" of Dannilynn (sp?) he would have complete control over the Marshall $$ which was apparently close to being settled since Pierce had passed away. And I don't think ANS was that well off. I recall something in People Mag about her not paying rent at the Bahamas house. True. Also that thing from wiki that someone posted about her not paying for the special autopsy procedure for her son. Man, this story just gets crazier by the minute.
