  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 19, 2007 -> 11:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've long been a fan of Trot Nixon and at 3 mill (if he's healthy and able to play 130 games) this will be one of the FA bargains of the off-season. I agree. Great signing by Shapiro and Cleveland, I hope it isn't true. And if it is, I can't imagine why Theo and the gang wouldn't put a flier out allowing Wily Mo to become true trade bait for that closers role.
  2. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 19, 2007 -> 12:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Having no class on fridays is sweet. oh and turkey/cheddar lunchables are also sweet. The hang over when you awake is far from sweet though.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 19, 2007 -> 10:31 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I like Trot, but he's definitely one of the guys I've heard rumors about being enhanced. I know he's had some injuries, but his homer numbers have fallen off of the table in the last 3 years. He'll be good for Cleveland...him and Delucci are much better than Pods. The thing with his weight gain is that he got fat, not muscular. Prior to the whole steroid scandal it was a big joke, back in like 2002. His excuse was that he quit dipping/chewing, which is a reasonable excuse considering as I mentioned he wasn't muscular in the least.
  4. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 19, 2007 -> 10:24 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Trot and REdandwhite sitting in a tree.......haha JK I'd hit it. Edit: I'd probably eat raw eggs for a week to surprise him too... uh.. things just got wierd.. ha
  5. Phil Kessel makes his return to the ice noticeable winning the game last night against Pittsburgh, in Boston, in an overtime shoot-out. Suck it cancer.
  6. I wasn't going to start a new thread for this because I probably be ridiculed for having a crush on one of my favorite all time Red Sox, but I couldn't help but laugh at that contract. Trot Nixon will be making $3 million dollars over one year, Gary Matthews Jr will be making $11 million per over five years? His power is all but diminished due to injury, but the guy still knows how to get on base. Why on earth wouldn't the White Sox go after him at that price, for at the very least insurance for Podsednik? Hell, I'd rather have Nixon leading off with his .374 OBP in an off year where he was hurt than Podsednik. No?
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lazy eye for Stu as he got hit in the eye with a football once. I never wish pain on anybody but Stuart Scott sucks. Infact, I have a facebook group with over 50 members, some of which are random people who feel the same way I do called "Stuart Scott Equals Tranny." Join, you know he's a transexual.

    Raw Eggs

The odds of getting salmonella from a raw egg is about 1 and 3 million. It's a possibility but god would really have to hate you for it to happen.

    Raw Eggs

From a nutritional stand point, you are digesting only a fraction of an eggs worth by eating them raw compared to eating them when they are cooked. Each egg holds 7 grams of protein, give or take a gram, by eating it raw you are only receiving half of the 7 grams, sometimes even less. As for raw eggs making you shoot a bigger wad of come on your girlfriend as a surprise? I find it almost impossible that raw eggs help in this department, although I do agree when I first started working out intensely when I was consuming a gram of protein per bodyweight and sometimes more per day, I was blowing off more steam. Study: The Journal of Nutrition Vol. 128 No. 10 October 1998, pp. 1716-1722 Egg proteins contribute substantially to the daily nitrogen allowances in Western countries and are generally considered to be highly digestible. However, information is lacking on the true ileal digestibility of either raw or cooked egg protein. The recent availability of stable isotope-labeled egg protein allowed determination of the true ileal digestibility of egg protein by means of noninvasive tracer techniques. Five ileostomy patients were studied, once after ingestion of a test meal consisting of 25 g of cooked 13C- and 15N-labeled egg protein, and once after ingestion of the same test meal in raw form. Ileal effluents and breath samples were collected at regular intervals after consumption of the test meal and analyzed for 15N- and 13C-content, respectively. The true ileal digestibility of cooked and raw egg protein amounted to 90.9% (cooked) and 51.3% (raw) respectively. A significant negative correlation (r = 0.92, P < 0.001) was found between the 13C-recovery in breath and the recovery of exogenous N in the ileal effluents. In summary, using the 15N-dilution technique we demonstrated that the assimilation of cooked egg protein is efficient, albeit incomplete, and that the true ileal digestibility of egg protein is significantly enhanced by heat-pretreatment. A simple 13C-breath test technique furthermore proved to be a suitable alternative for the evaluation of the true ileal digestibility of egg protein........ Egg white protein is generally considered to be less digestible than heat-pretreated egg white protein. In this study, it was shown that after ingestion of 25 g of raw egg protein, almost 50% is malabsorbed over 24 h. The higher digestibility of cooked egg protein presumably results from structural changes in the protein molecule induced by heating, thereby enabling the digestive enzymes to gain broader access to the peptide bonds. It has been suggested that the reduced digestibility of raw egg white is at least partially related to the presence of trypsin inhibitors in raw egg white.
  10. Being a GOLD member (ah thank you) on eagleaction.com for years now as well as members of other boards, we all became friendly with Sean's mom. I was waiting for a response from her, knowing that eventually she'd respond. Here it is: "I came on this morning....to say thanks you to the fans of Boston College and especially the fans of Sean. While I am extremely disappointed (frustrated, mad and angry) with the events that have transpired, I did want to express that, as fans, there are no better. Over the last few years you guys have brought much laughter and insight of BC sports to me! As for those who want to speculate, and look for rumors, on what happen....good luck. Some of you are not even close to knowing what happen. Keep cheering for the Eagles...as we will...if you are inclined, pray for all of us..... Wishing you guys the very best. BCMOM " *** Sean better be ready to get b**** slapped.
  11. Ohio St is really coming into its own as a program. I also agree with you that on the road in college basketball, even the best teams can lose which justifies those losses in my opinion. And I also agree with you that the Big Ten is rather weak this year. I see no problem in this argument with Rock, I just happen to think this is one of Ohio St's best chances, if not the best. Similar to George Mason last year, Marquette in 2003, Oklahoma in 2002, Ohio St with Boston College recruits in 1999, Minnesota in 1997, and my favorite UMass in 1996 to name a few.. Hell I'd even add in that last years Boston College squad had the best chance at a National Championship than they'll ever have. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wiscy and OSU are considered the only locks for the Big Ten conference right now. And I find that to be kind of humorous. With the exception of edging IU at home, I don't think there's much more that Ohio State has done that Indiana hasn't done. Excellent point. Also, because RockRaines blocked me and I can't send him messages, this was directed in PM for him: I'm not an angry IU fan by any means. I think Ohio St has a good team, I just don't happen to think they're going to be this incredible program year after year that you seem to think Matta is turning them into. Also, as greasy indicated, while Ohio St did play three tough road games, -I've already said are pretty much a crap shoot even if you're the best team in the nation- I don't necessarily think Ohio St has done anything that Indiana hasn't done and with us playing both Wisconsin and you guys only one time each, we should have a very solid chance at being a 1 or 2 seed in the Big Ten tournament and as a result could be placed rather high in the NCAA tournament. Of course, we could lose every game from this day forward and none of that would happen. No hard feelings on this issue, I wish that we never had any, but it is what it is.
  12. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 05:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's funny to listen to Ohio State fans think they are all high and mighty in basketball. It's not like you blew IU away when you got them at home. You won by seven and it was actually a lot closer than that. I believe we led fairly late in that game. In fact IU is pretty much your signature win along with Tennessee. Other than that, you've been beaten (badly by Florida I might add) by the other three top 10 teams you have played. Your non-conference schedule was cream puff. Enjoy your one year of Oden because if you don't win a title this year, you're not going to win one for a long time. Scratch that. Ever.
  13. Southern Illinois looked pretty darn good against Indiana at Assembly Hall earlier this year, and we're one of the better teams in the Big Ten.
  14. It's just plain dumb. If Michael Vick wants weed, he can get it. No need to risk this bs.
  15. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lord how i hate ESPN What did ESPN do you to you?
  16. You're saying I'm bias for talking about a Boston College basketball team that's undefeated in arguably the best basketball conference in the country. A Patriots team a win away from the 4th Super Bowl in the last six years. A Red Sox team whose been a contender all of my life. It's hard not to be bias about those three, lets talk about the Celtics or Bruins and our conversation will be different. Back on topic. Something else that's a shame is that while other schools cover this nonsense up, Boston College never has, and while I think it's a classy move on the schools part, other recruits pondering committing may find it as a negative.. or atleast the parents. I've sat with his mother, I've talked to her on a couple of occassions, I can't imagine how heartbroken she must be. Everybody believed in Sean, everybody wanted him to succeed, and he just never could. While it's sad for Sean, it's even more said for McClain. He doesn't have the same guidance, won't be given the same help or any help at all. I just hope he isn't murdered or apart of something similar in the not so distant future. Has anybody ever heard the Andrew Bryant story? Nutz.
  17. Samsonov is a player that you'll love one day and hate the next. I'd do that trade because he's got all the talent and speed in the world and is rather exciting to watch, but he can be frustrating at times.
  18. Michael Vick pulled a Sean Williams. Rotoworld: Michael Vick had his Aquafina water bottle seized at Miami International Airport on Wednesday morning because of suspicion that it contained marijuana. Airport security grew suspicious when Vick hesitated to surrender the bottle. He eventually threw it in a trash can. A screener grabbed it out of the trash and contacted police, who said they found a dark residue inside the bottle that was giving off a "pungent odor of marijuana." The bottle was also divided into two compartments with a plastic piece in the middle. Vick could be charged if the bottle tests positive for drugs.
  19. Williams won't even sniff the first round after this and to be honest he doesn't deserve it. He thought he could get by failing the tests and that BC wouldn't do anything about it. Well that wasn't the case and it's a complete shame he couldn't just stop smoking. People speculated that he was high for some of the games and if he wasn't it was because his high went away before the game started. Pretty much a sun up to sun down smoker. What a shame. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They still had more than enough talent to avoid losing by 14 to Vermont, and unless the whole starting lineup was out with the flu there's no excuse for losing to Duquesne, they're awful. And they don't exactly have wins over Florida and Oklahoma State to counteract those losses like Kansas does, and BC has 2 more to go with it with a fairly weak schedule. That 5-0 start in ACC play isn't exactly the greatest evidence either, outside of Maryland those wins are over NC State, Wake Forest, Virginia, and Miami, which all have at least 6 losses. Have you watched Tyrus play? Williams is no stiff, but he's not quite on the same level. That's really not the case, otherwise he'd be projected to go much higher in the draft. MAYBE he slides into the lottery, but that's still a long way from being an NBA star, and regardless of what happens he's about the #5 post player at absolute best. It's really hard to say where BC falls because they've really only played 2 good teams all year: one the loss to Kansas and the other a win at home against a somewhat schizoprenic Maryland team. The vast majority of their tough games lie in front of them, so I don't think you can conclusively say that they're the best or even close. I would say they're definitively worse than Carolina, and probably fall somewhere in the next group with Duke, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Clemson. I'd personally say they're 3rd out of that group, maybe 4th or even 5th, though it's hard to be definitive without seeing them play head to head. Duke, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech have definitely accomplished more so far, and Clemson is comparable. They are a middle of the pack team without Sean Williams slash nobody to replace him. You can't keep relying on Jared Dudley for all forty minutes as he's done in the past because he's been playing hurt. I don't want to say it's the season but it doesn't look good. Perhaps they can ride these 5 games, go .500 the rest of the way in the ACC and sneak into the tournament. Still, what could have been... QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Red and White.. even more bias than me. Talk to me about the Celtics or Bruins. Don't be stupid.
  20. You're referencing games where Williams and McClain were out in one of them and Dudley, McClain, and Oates were out the other. They had started to come around and we're beginning to play the best basketball they've played this season in this 5-0 ACC start. Williams has more athleticism than Tyrus Thomas. He was well on his way to being the defensive player of the year, he'll still have a chance to win it with his 75 blocks, and with a good run in the tournament as I'd expect them to have with a full squad, he'd have been bumped into a lottery pick. As for being one of the better teams in the ACC.. Without Sean Williams and Akida McClain we'll never truly know, but it's a good bet they are number two behind North Carolina.
  21. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Potential big break for the Noles with us playing you guys on Tuesday. BTW we beat VT today. They looked horrible, I do not know how they beat UNC and Duke. It's a big break for everyone in the ACC. Boston College was arguably the best team in that conference with a sober Williams and McClain. f***ing can't believe this s***.. How f***ing stupid can you f***ing be? A future NBA star loses his eligibility for a couple joints? f***ing moron.. god damnit
  22. It is classless and wrong and something I would never do. Why would you even consider bringing the LT crying or the camera man pushing, when anybody in the right state of mind would agree with you that having an affair is wrong. It's classless and wrong, infact I hated all that stuff, it's the LT pissing and moaning that I've defended him for.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When did I do that? And what case exactly was I arguing? Maybe you should read the thread before making accusations. I asked you a simple question, would anything that anyone posted regarding the negative actions of Belichick change YOUR mind on him at all? If they are legit reasons, of course. Just as if somebody comes to me and tells me why they think the Matsuzaka signing sucks, I'm going to listen and try and argue my points to counter, that is until it turns into a pissing match. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He also has been named in a divorce case in Boston for having a long term affair with a married woman. His son was arrested for pot the other day too. We should hang him.
  24. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pretty sure this was posted already, but... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Belichick#Criticisms The Tomlinson thing I've already dismissed as has everyone. The photographer incident he apologized for. I don't really consider those two things incidents. As for his attire, I couldn't care less about it. The sleeveless sweatshirts are a bit much, but I was a fan of some the fashion stunts he's pulled, most notably the challenge flag buried in his sock. The Tom Jackson thing I've never heard much about. If somebody said that everybody hated me and then tried to shake my hand as if nothing had occurred a couple months before, I'd react in the same manner, afterall that was how my first suspension occurred. I don't know about those criticisms, all seem rather ridiculous if you ask me, but I hated Phil Jackson for solely contending with Red and even though I didn't go to the extremes some here have gone too to turn him into this classless human being, I can see why some of you have.
