  1. Wily Mo Pena is still available, if no Ramirez deal is struck contrary to ESPN Deportes' belief, I could see him being moved for Chad Cordero. Afterall, Jim Bowden loves him.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very stupidly I might add. I think most would agree that thus far the Lugo and Drew signings have been the "best" of the offseason.
  3. Nobody is going to tell me that working out four hours per day, seven days per week can happen without overtraining. It can't. Period. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You never know though...he's still such a young kid, and this seems to be his first serious workout regimen. Obviously by looking at his frame, he really could use it and hopefully it adds to his velocity. Don't worry though...if he hits the wall at the end of the season, many of us will be blaming KW/Ozzie for mishandling him in 2006. Good news about Lester though... I know he's your boy. I'm no cancer connaisseur, but it's certainly good news hearing that he's done so soon with his chemo. Still, my mother had cancer and it was a scary thing, every couple of weeks, when she would need to get rechecked for it coming back. God bless him though, I can't imagine going through what he's gone through at any age no less in his early twenties.
  4. Not to bring the room down, but it baffles me how personal trainers recommend him working out every day for fours per day. He's gained ten pounds, but there is a good chance that all that exercise will turn into over training and begin to negatively affect McCarthy down the road, specifically late in the season.
  5. I'm surprised nobody's checked out that link. It's incredible.
  6. It was mentioned in this thread that he was the best player in college basketball if I'm not mistaken. Either way, I'm slightly bias, him being an Indiana kid and not coming to the University. Still, I think it's only fair to see what he can do before he's labeled as the best player in the sport, even if he would have been the consensus number one pick in the draft.
  7. Is it wrong to want to see what this kid can do before putting up on a pedestal as the greatest player in the world?
  8. Yea, was he impressive last night or what? Boston College finally came out playing like I thought they could all along. When you lose your two captains, it certainly will take a few games, I just wish they hadn't been embarrassed in the Vermont and Providence games. Oh well, Go Eagles!
  9. For those wanting to catch up on Scrubs and other shows for that matter, this website is pure genius: http://www.yourtvlinks.com/ *** I've watched a bunch of Entourage and will begin catching up on Scrubs with how highly it is talking about here.
  10. If Ray Durham is going to cost a team $8 million over three years, I would not be opposed to giving Lugo $8 million over four years.

    Wii

Golden Eye and Mario Kart are still popular here in the dorms. As well as Super Smash Bros and Wayne Gretzky hockey. Classic system.
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Cubs fans also think that a package of Murton+Prospects would net them Manny. Yea, but White Sox fans think... Oh wait. Congratulations, Nomar. http://people.aol.com/people/article/0,26334,1563617,00.html
  13. I'm not saying you're right or wrong, Rock, but how can you honestly say that Oden is atleast a twenty point differential? I saw him and Scheyer play last year against eachother and while it was clear who the more dominating player was, Scheyer at half his size was just as talented, and it's not like he's coming in right away and propelling Duke to glory. The Oden hype needs to stop, he isn't the best basketball player in any gym, atleast until he goes on the court and shows that he is.
  14. Considering the money being tossed around this offseason, I don't think it's bad deal at all.
  15. I really wonder how people would have been talking this game had CBS had the rights to air it. ESPN had a countdown three weeks before the game started, they had dramatic montages playing left and right, coverage you don't see for the National Championship for christs sake. God, I hate ESPN. Had it been covered on CBS, this rematch shenanigans wouldn't even be talked about. Boo Michigan!
  16. QUOTE(bschmaranz @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> mlbtraderumors.com is reporting that the Red Sox have offered something in the neighborhood of $48 million over 4 years for Mr. Drew. Could this be a sign that they've got something cooking for Manny? If MLBtraderumors.com said it, it's wrong. You can assume that Ramirez won't be traded and that J.D. Drew is going to the Yankees for 8 years and $96 million dollars.
  17. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 01:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LOL, in that case, Blue Jay management is a joke. Frank's done after '08, and he should be done after '07. People forget how poorly he started off. He really came around, there is no denying that, but it will boggle my mind just as it will many Toronto fans if.. or should I say when Frank goes down. Nonetheless, best of luck to him.
  18. I'm now drawing a blank slash unable to find where I read it, but apparently one of the reasons Frank Thomas was signed was to indicate to Vernon Wells that they were going to be a competitive ball club if he were to tag on for another 5-6 years.
  19. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 01:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just a thought...how much interest would Ricciardi have in adding, say, Uribe, Garcia, and another solid prospect? Not a bad thought by any means, but what are you expecting them to give up in return?
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 01:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uribe allegedly shot some people in the last month. Regardless of whether or not he is convicted, do you think that sticks in people's minds? The fact that he hit .230 last year won't help either, and his .700 OPS is not appreciated by all, and with good reason, because it is heavily influenced by his solid SLG%. This offense, by and large, had no problem driving the ball and getting XBHs. They DID have problem with getting runners on base ahead of those XBHs. Hence, people feel Uribe's replaceable. I completely agree with you, wite. I always liked what Uribe brought to the table in 2005, but in 2006 it was a different team. Whether or not having Anderson instead of Rowand in center made that much of a difference is moot, but having Anderson and Uribe back to back is a close second to the struggles the starting rotation had this season that was the ultimate downfall of the season. Gonzalez isn't much of an upgrade, but I'm all for some sort of a change at short.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 01:31 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We put up with your pro-Red Sox posts, but can you please stop with the blog comments! They weren't funny the first time you said them, and they're still not. It wasn't green. I'm simply being sarcastic, just like he is when he says the nonsense he says. If this guy wants to act like his opinion is the only one that matters and that he is the greatest sports journalist around, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'm going to bring up the fact that he's as worthless in his sports journalism as you or I when he takes a jab at me. Hopefully this will be discussion will carry on behind the scenes. Alex Gonzalez... QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 01:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What made you think I was talking to you? The fact that you were talking to me.
  22. What have I spouted that Peter Gammons has said? I really don't want you to be the downfall of another thread, but please, in private, tell me what it is I spout.
