  1. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 08:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Being a Top 100 prospect doesn't really count for much. Just ask Jeremy Reed or Dallas McPherson. Well when we're talking about five of them, the odds are rather high that a couple will pan out and be stars.
  2. To start, whats being rumored, even if it involves Craig Hansen someone I view as the next dominant closer in baseball, is a great deal. Over the next three years, years that will all involve Manny Ramirez, Curt Schilling, etc. Todd Helton will help this team more than Manny Delcarmen or Craig Hansen will. It's as close to fact without being such as it can get. As for the prospects that Colorado is inquiring about, all are top 100 prospects in baseball and phenominal baseball talents. Ellsbury is an excellent hitter, to which everyone compares to Johnny Damon, however he doesn't have the same 15-20 homer power that Damon has. Nonetheless, he's twice the defensive player that Damon is, so if he's able to get on base and do what he's done his entire baseball career with the stick, he'll be plenty helpful in centerfield for the Sox for a long time. Comparing the Red Sox and Yankees? I'm still going to say not at all, or atleast not quite. This deal reminds me of one the White Sox made just a year ago. Acquiring an aging player who's signed to max dollars but will be payed at or below market value is not something the Yankees have done in the past. The most obvious comparison to something the Yankees have done is the Bobby Abreu trade but that was a move that completely contrasted the Yankees game plan of the last 5-10 years and it also resembled nothing close to market value at the time of the deal.
  3. Whenever you guys start a new one, count me in. I can't take over a team in 2015 though.
  4. Ben Gordon doesn't do it for me either, I personally would trade him in a heartbeat if he does infact have some sort of trade value.
  5. Not to start a rumor but the Inside the NBA crew was talking about how the Timberwolves should do Garnett justice and trade him. The Bulls were the team mentioned as the most likely suitor for his services.
  6. No Sirius satellite radio subscribers listening to Howard?
  7. I agree with PH. I couldn't care less about who wins the game, infact I'd probably rather see Duke pull it off considering IU lost to them and BC is due to play them on Sunday, but that ending was an absolute disgrace. It's not physically possible for a shot to be caught and then shot and into the basket in less than a second. Disgusting.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 11:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I cant believe we brought OOTP in to the discussion. We signed him because there was nothing left for this cheap. Josh Fields should have a serious crack at the job, and maybe a platoon with Erstad. That was completely irrelevant to the overall meaning of the post. Open your eyes.

    PS3

I decided on NBA2k7. For the most part I only play sports games, although Resistance sounds like a blast. Thanks guys.

    PS3

I'm thinking about buying a PS3 and I'm curious as to what game I should get along with it. I see a bunch of games I want but most of them aren't out yet. What games do you recommend?
  11. The worst part about tonights loss is just how much I hyped them up to my dad. He watched the Butler game, the Duke game, the Kentucky game, the Ohio St game.. I kept telling him to stick with this team and that we've been mixing and matching, hitting our shots, and just playing all around grade A basketball. He finally tunes in on Saturday and liked what he saw for the most part but blamed part of it on UConn being a "bad team." So I finally tell him to tune in tonight and that we had a chip on our shoulder. Ugh.
  12. In OOTP leagues I've always loved acquiring Erstad from people with the same mindset that you have, wite. That he sucks, that he's this, that he's that, and because of his salary he'll be moved for chump change and if he stays healthy he performs like an all-star. Point I'm making, so what if his career is over and he turns out to be Timo Perez. If the guy can remain healthy, something I'd set at about a 33% chance, he could be a real valuable chip for the 07 White Sox. Low risk, High reward.
  13. Why would his salary in the past have any relevance to what he's making now? Would Darren Dreifort be a steal if the White Sox signed him to a similar deal just because he made $13 plus million in years past?
  14. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And FSU? Hell of a win by BC. Damn nice shot. It would have been a big win for Florida St with Boston College reeling, but somehow someway Al Skinner, Jared Dudley, Sean Marshall, and Tyrese Rice are determined to take this team to the big dance. What a ballgame.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Weber is not upset at the 18 year old high schooler. Is your memory short BTW? Weber gave Sampson more of anything than Bill gave to Peyton just 2 days ago. So then he's upset at Sampson.. but.. for what? According to Peyton Manning, Bill gave him plenty of praise. That's not the point. Illini fans shouldn't bad mouth Belichick if they stand by Weber, a person Belichick should take a s*** on in terms of what they have accomplished in their respective sports.
  16. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LMFAO, where's the green? I mean not only is that just wrong, but at least Weber has a motive to be upset. I don't see a reason for him to be upset at Sampson and if Weber is upset at an 18 year old high schooler, then the guy has serious problems that have nothing to do with basketball.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He shook his hand, what do you want him to do? Both the pregame and postgame handshakes were far worse than anything Belichick has ever done on a playing field. Still I really couldn't care less, especially after that last second buzzer beater by Marshall.
  18. Oops.. And if that isn't bad... "Oakland is preparing to make a run at Michael Vick. The package would include WRs Randy Moss and Jerry Porter plus the No.1 overall pick in the 2007 draft for Vick and Atlanta's first-round pick. -- foxsports.com" http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/scorecard/index.html
  19. The Raiders go to the next man in line, I guess. What are they even doing? Wow. And if this isn't bad...
  20. I'm a fan of this potential move, but then again I haven't seen the same things from Brian Anderson than others have seen.
  21. I saw that a couple days ago and I'm still pissed off about it. Basically they are weeding out/forcing the most diehard of baseball fans, and it makes zero sense to me. I suppose the NFL has been doing the same thing for years, but I just don't get why MLB would do such a thing.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 22, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> FWIW, they did mention it on Mike and Mike this morning. And it seems it's been a topic of all the afternoon shows on ESPN so far. I haven't seen an episode of SC since the Colts game ended, so I don't know what they're making of it. Yea, ESPN has made it a topic on all of the afternoon shows thus far. The Around the Horn gang dismissed it, I wonder what the PTI group will say, not that I really care, it'll just workout like that as i'm getting ready to go to the srsc.
  23. Good post. I'm glad some Bears fans think the way you think as opposed to being concerned with something that has nothing to do with them nor should be made into a big deal at all.
