  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 20, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) But isn't he also a lot less likely to throw that pitch then? Yep, and sometimes like when you're up against a dude like Verlander, he has confidence in ALL of his pitches.. Just now I was up against him and his slider had the lowest confidence level, he tossed it inside on me and i lined it into the right field gap for a double. Other times like when you have two strikes on you, you just have to take what you can get and hope for the best. Stuff like this is what makes the Show so awesome, brings me back to my high school baseball days at Polk High
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 20, 2012 -> 09:41 AM) I don't care if your controller is vibrating like Carl's dildo, don't swing at first pitch. :lolhitting This dude on operation sports outlined his hitting strategy and i tried it last night and it worked really well.. The main point i got out of it was to look at the pitchers confidence ratings in all his pitches, and instead of guessing fastball every time, guess the pitch he has a much lower confidence level in and you'll have a much better chance at hitting it. Guessing right and getting great contact and timing on a pitch that the pitcher has amazing confidence in is more likely to get you into a grounder or a ball hit right at somebody even if you timed it like Ted Williams.
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 09:53 PM) Haha, that's awesome. I have yet to hit a HR in 1+ seasons. Since my last post, my average is down to like .125. Uggghh. I really think once I work on my speed, my average will climb, because I hit a lot of balls down the 3B line that the 3rd basemen backhands and throw beats me by a step. Also, lots of balls past the pitcher that the IF range to get and barely get me out. Speed should help, then I'll work on power. Oh, also, if this game had BABIP, mine would be historical. My average is SOO low, yet I think I have only struck out maybe 13 times in 1+ seasons. I make contact with everything, I just get very unlucky. working on my plate vision has helped a ton. My plate coverage indicator almost looks like it takes up the entire strike zone, i get a lot more wheelhouse hits now
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) Oh yeah, and for those of you who do have The Show, how is your hitting doing? As I posted earlier, I was sent back down to AA after the Futures Game I made somehow in AAA. I actually ended the year on a good note. At one point I had like a .430 AVG over a 10-game span. Ended the year around .200 AVG in AA I think. my average is starting to come down, I'm at .304 halfway through the season in the majors but i think its because I've been trying to play while fairly intoxicated. off topic but my first at bat in the majors, i was in an xbox live party chat with T R U while playing PS3 and i hit a first pitch curveball HR off of Josh Beckett that cleared the Green Monster with ease. Talk about a boner-inducing experience. Especially with Carl's raspy manly cowboy texas voice speaking to me as i was playing.
  5. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 08:40 PM) Haha oh Tim.. you are always good for a laugh I'm going to come over and if you still have the PS3 I'm going to bring The Show and see if it really is your TV. Or if its because you were trying to win using the Astros.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 17, 2012 -> 06:24 PM) This is probably the best lazy strategy for hitting in the Show. They've made sure that you don't do this with success in recent versions. I remember back in The Show 07 and 08, I'd guess fastball low almost all the time. Then on a hitter's count, I'd guess fastball up and crush the s*** out of it. That no longer applies to this year's version, unfortunately. It works on hall of fame settings in the show '12 I'm still batting over .300 with my RTTS player in the majors and my contact rating is only 70 against righties and 60 against lefties. i don't have the hand-eye coordination to move the plate coverage indicator towards the spot where the ball is coming as its coming to me like I've seen some pro nerds do, so my best bet is to only swing once I've guessed the location right since it moves the pci for you, and torturing the pitcher by using circle to fight off all his pitches until i get the one i want
  7. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 17, 2012 -> 12:53 AM) 1) Who is TRU, and what are the extents of his apparent brain damage and 2) What the hell is your secret? Don't tell me you are a "timing only" guy with the button mashing, because that's not really fair. T R U is a poster here on soxtalk. I do zone hitting. and pretty much all i do is guess pitch fastball inside. If the ball goes anywhere else i won't swing unless its really close. also on counts where i have two strikes, ill use the circle button to fight off pitches until i get the pitcher to toss one in the zone I'm sitting on. if my guess pitch zone indicator doesn't light up ill shade the batters eye to the right of the strike zone since i obviously know the pitch isn't coming inside. ill only use the power swing if i guess location and pitch type correctly, this has led to most of my HR's. any other situation i use the X button to hit. hope that helps a little, getting your batters eye and having an understanding of when a pitch is going to be too low is huge. When the game first came out i was trying to dig out pitches headed for the dirt all the freaking time.
  8. breaking news T R U traded in the show for mlb 2k12. calls it, "best decision I've ever made." Meanwhile, my RTTS dude is hitting .348 in AAA as a 19 year old on hall of fame settings.
  9. ill be avoiding the frat boy wrigleyville d-bags as much as I possibly can until they start peeing on my front yard.
  10. wasteland 2... I'm going to have to contribute to that. Too bad the $10k rewards are sold out
  11. are there multiple endings based on how you played the game? and if so are they all bad?
  12. I suppose if you consume meat at the rate of your average obese American then yes.. yes it is unhealthy.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) Much worse IMO. Bad enough that unwind buy another EA or Bioware game unless the endings (if you can call those endings) are fixed. The ending was ba enough that all 3 games are currently ruined for me. noooooooooo
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 11, 2012 -> 08:31 PM) Seriously, I'm going to respond to myself because I'm still pissed about this. Bioware can go f*** themselves. Worst ending ever. that doesn't sound very good, I'm hoping bioware didn't rape Shepherd the way that george lucas and steven spielberg raped indiana jones.
  15. i f***in love the show as well. it took me about 10 full games but I finally have my batters eye back and I'm killing it in the minors with my RTTS guy. Its going to be exciting getting up to the majors and refusing to resign with the astros so i can take my talents to south beach. oh and Carl hates this game, i think he traded it in for black ops already.

  17. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 05:04 PM) Yeah, FoP made me buy one yesterday.. what i didn't make you buy it. you said you needed a blu ray player for your kitchen.. Unlike the time you forced me to purchase that God awful modern warfare 3 game.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 02:54 PM) Los Pollos Hermanos. ANybody? Too much methamphetamine in the batter. I personally love Whataburger so much that i plan trips to texas for it.

  22. I agree with staying in Jersey, either Newark or East Rutherford are ideal because they have a NJ transit line. You'll save a ton of money doing so and the NJ Transit leaves you at the bottom of Madison Square Garden once you commute into Manhattan. If you've never been to times square, get it out of the way the first day, buy your family their I If you want to do something touristy I recommend doing one of the double decker bus tours (as long as its nice outside). I've taken visiting family on about 6 of those and each time I learn something that I didn't know before about Manhattan. Also they have stops where you can get off and explore the neighborhood at your leisure and you can hop on the next double decker bus just by showing your ticket/receipt. I don't recommend taking cabs while in Manhattan unless its a short trip, with the immense traffic you will most likely be getting charged for just sitting at a jam packed red light for 20 minutes. I recommend taking the train to get from point A to point B (you'll also get a great view of Splinter and his ninja turtles, seriously....). Theres about a billion awesome restaurants to go to obviously, yelp can be your best friend here. If you're a geek like me i recommend taking a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), it has an amazing collection and the building itself is incredible, and pretty conveniently located within Central Park. Hope you have fun!
