7.5 games back. 1.5 games up in the WC?!? Santana going tommorow?!? WoW We might be in 3rd place VERY SOON!
-
I would fishing go nuts if this spiff goes down soon!
-
the score just reported that the Sox are after Soriano and Carlos Lee!
-
Not sure if any of you guys listened to the Levine and Defalco show this morning. But they interviewed KW and he Bruce jokingly said, so Kenny we can expect us to announce that the Sox acquire Soriano next weekend? Kenny said "No, the trade im going to make would be a lot BIGGER than that" Is there a possible blockbuster waiting to happen? D-train? Cabrera? Soriano and D-train? Hmmm is KW just blowing smoke?

QUOTE(SadChiSoxFanOptimist @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) I agree 100%...Figgins would add speed, defense versitality. Weren't those (together with great starting/relief pitchinig) the key elements of the formula enabling us to be World Champs? Soriano would give us yet another basher. Essential question: What is the philosophy of this team:ower or pitching & defense? This team needs to get back to doing what made them 2006 World Series Champions. Well they havent won the 2006 title quite yet. But I do agree with you, this team has too many bashers and not enough contact hitters with speed. A guy like Figgins would make alot more sense than soriano. This 2006 teams is slowly reminding me of the 2003 White Sox team. That team just missed the playoffs because when they weren't hitting homeruns, they were losing, kind of like how we are now.

KW will add to the bullpen in some shape or form. Unless Tracey woohs everyone like Jenks did last season, KW will go out and find another reliever. Honestly that will probably be it. I don't forsee Javy or Freddy get traded. To be honest with you. How can you expect Javy, Freddy, and Mark to be struggling at the same time? Its frusterating for KW, but he MUST rely on the fact that they will fix there problems. You cant just go out and add another starter.

Buerhle has been a major dissapointment. If he is turning the corner, it sure as hell better be now. If this team gets behind more than 6.5 games, they are toast.

Sox v. Tigers, Gamethread: Contreras v. Rogers, 12:05
GreatScott82 replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Ahh the glory days (last year) When we bunted the man over with no outs, and with timely hitting we would claw away some runs. The too much power minded days (this year) wait for the homerun...wait for it.. wait for it... is it here yet? Did these guys forget how to bunt? Ridiculous! -
Detroit is the better team that is why they are 5.5 games up. Lets face it, the Tigers are the 2005 Chicago White Sox. Our team reminds me of the 2005 Boston Red Sox (with a little better pitching). We all know what kind of team has a better chance dont we? The Tigers are on a roll and were on a nasty slide. This is aweful. 5.5 games back? Wow and dont look now the Twins are right on our asses

Anyone thinking we won't make a move at all?
GreatScott82 replied to Frankensteiner's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Our bullpen has improved tremendously the last 3-4 weeks. Sure another arm down there would help and all, but our biggest weakness right now is starting pitching. (Who would have thought?) Honestly I would trade Vazquez for Gordon straight up at this point. Then go ahead and pick up Hernandez from Pittsburgh and the bulpen is set and the rotation is set with BMac plugged in. Once this happens someone will have to start cracking the whip on both Buerhle and Garcia to STEP IT UP! Take notes from Jon G! Do something! I'm just tired of Javier Vazquez in a White Sox uniform. Sure he's got a great arm. But his pitch selection is aweful with 2 strikes. Its near August and he still hasn't figured it out. Time to move on -
Keepin' that Motown Mojo = Sox @ Tigers
GreatScott82 replied to Heads22's topic in 2006 Season in Review
"1- 2 the count, here is Javier with the pitch, its a breaking ball right over the plate for a homer!" Sound familiar? Yep Mr. Vazquez gets ahead of the counts and throws his meatball breaking ball over the plate ALL THE FREAKING TIME! Hasn't he freaking learned by now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough is enough, my patience has worn dry, GET RID OF HIM! -

Javy doesn't know how to step it up under tight situations. I don't care if his stuff is 'good' or not. He cant cut the mustard. Get him out of here now. -
HUGE SERIES!!!! Lets show these Tigers and the baseball world why we are the defending champs!!! Lets make the TIgers eat their own crap! Lets go 7-2 or 8-1 vs them!!
-
Hmm too bad this is pure speculation. I would love V. Wells to put on a White Sox uniform this year. But i truly believe Toronto is in it for the long hall. V. Wells is their franchise IMO. I can't see him going anywhere unless the Jays' lose frequently up untill the deadline. Lets say the Jays fall out of contention this year, they will plan for next year. So it would make sense for them to take Javy (who has like 3 years left) and maybe a couple of prospects for Vernon Wells. Then we can plug BMac into the rotation finally. Can you guys imagine this lineup? Pods, Gooch, Thome, Konerko, Dye, Wells, Crede, Pierzynksi, Uribe WOW thats nasty! You can also figure out that BMac couldn't be much worse than Javy also. And IF we do make the playoffs (and by aqcuirering Wells, me most certaintly would) You can go: Contreras, Buerhle, and Garland in that order in the divisional round. Hey I can dream right?
-
Who is your series pick-to-click? Call me crazy but i think Brian Anderson will have a HUGE series both offensively and defensively. The rest of the team will feed off of him and we will take 2 of 3 in Detroit.
-
Thank you Beck for shedding a ray of hope on a bad sunday as we just got swept in New York. Hell we can return the favor and sweep them at home later in the year. We can win 2 of 3 in Boston and go 6-6 vs the 'beasts from the easts' and everyone can stop panicing. Its better to struggle now and get it over with, than down the stretch when the games matter the most. THank you Beck!

We need pitching. Gordon would be nice, but forget ARow or Abreu. Anderson has impressed me lately with his hitting, maybe he can have a hot 2nd half? I think KW will try to bank on that. I was on the "Lets get Rowand back" train for awhile but CF isn't our problem its pitching. Pitching pitching pitching! We can't afford to give up 6-7 runs a game every time one of our 'aces' goes out there. Try to get Gordon, but also try to improve the rotation some how. KW really has to decide on which of his pitchers will turn it around Javy or Freddy and from that make a deal. McCarthy is capable to start this season, but it might take him awhile to re-adjust to starting games. Jason Schmidt would be a nice addition, but as long as its for the right price. Should be interesting to see what KW does, but unlike last year, HE BETTER do something. (Not that im bashing the Blum move )

1-5 vs Boston and New York?? Wow that makes us look good. If we cant beat the elite were in trouble. Im pretty damn tired of playing ketchup every game. When was the last time we had a lead going into the 9th?

The Sh*t Pitching Stops Here: Sox @ Yanks

Pods and Gooch have been doing there job today. Thome, Pauly and Dye havent. It should be at least 6-5 by now. -

There is going to be a point in the season when the offense CANT score 6-7 runs a game to carry our pitching. Will they ever wake up and only allow 3-4 runs? I'm not asking for shut outs, just pitch a respectable game. I'm sick of the giving up 7 runs / game B.S. "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE" -Owen Hart -

Yup you know its bad when their young backups are hammering our pitching. THis is starting to become ridiculous, how its it possible for our whole staff to be struggling at the same time? Whats going on Coop? Like fathom said though, maybe this ass kicking is the best thing that could happen to us. It will wake up everybody and this will piss KW off enough to make a few trades to improve this starting pitching. -
Thanks for 2005 Cliff! I wish he could have repeated that this season, but his numbers last year were sooo nasty it would be almost impossible to match. Hope you catch on somewhere else and fix whatever it is that you need fixed! Now its time to add a solid reliever.

7/15 Game Thread White Sox vs. Yankees
GreatScott82 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in 2006 Season in Review
:puke thats what i think of the way our starting pitchers have done lately. So far we are 1-3 vs the Beasts from the East. Thats kind of embarressing, you definitely want to play your best vs these teams. Are they better than us? Or our we just in a major funk right now? Buerhle hasn't been good lately, Contreras has been okay but not his dominate self, Freddy is either on or really off, Garland is the 1 bright spot lately, and Javy is just terrible. I hate to whine about a 57 win team at the half, but seriously this team is struggling right now and should have at least 65 wins by now, our offense can only do so much. Kenny needs to do something. Because if the playoffs started tommorow, i expect an early exit.
