Sox looking at Fukudome, Bay, not Rowand
GoodAsGould replied to beck72's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
If we going to get Bay why not expand it to include Freddy Sanchez... you gotta figure if they are willing to add young pieces than they realize they arent going to contend for a couple years.... in which case Sanchez would be a soon to be f/a by time they going to contend. If we land those two guys, ill have a lot more optimism regarding our offense. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) Surely Cameron gets canned right? They should think about bringing back Jason Garrett. Idonno how you can justify firing a first year coach. Especially when you trade 2 of your better recievers in an already depleted offense and have no legit QB, one of the worse O-Lines in the game, and your 1 star player(ronnie brown) is out for season.

Gagne close to signing with the Brew Crew
GoodAsGould replied to EvilJester99's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Its a great deal, now he should solidify the closer position and if they have a poor season they can trade him for prospects like the Rangers did. Yes 10 million seems a bit much but its only 1 year so i have no problems with it. -
i was expecting something about carmen sandiego

Not to mention I played a beta or whatever of Hellgate: London and thought the game was pretty bad. Ill just leave it at I have no interest to purchase it at all when it comes out.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) Babich really needs to get fired, as well as Turner, the second the season ends. I dont know if I'm ready to give Turner the can yet. The O-line has been so miserable I cant put all the blame on him. That being said I wouldnt shed any tears if he did get canned. As for Babich, I couldnt agree more that he needs the can. The only thing that doesnt make sense is we lead the league in 3 and outs and really good in 3rd and long... but just horrible in every other statistic.

i love me some garret wolfe

I like Jose Guillen and think he can be a good player. I know there is that steroid thing going around with him but we'll see how it works out. Like everyone said, Meche seemed like a bad deal at first too.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 11:22 PM) Please do. No matter how our season ends up I can guarentee it will be better than the Illini who are going to be "Krushed" this year unless Jordan's son becomes his father. really going out on a limb there are you? -
Report: Bears sign Briggs to long-term deal
GoodAsGould replied to Scwible's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
well now maybe instead of completely crumbling we can reload for next season. -
to be fair, this was a repeat year for Carter kinda, even though he wasnt really that old for low A anyways. I was a big fan of his but the chance of quentin being a productive major league is much higher than Carter.... plus I think he even has higher potential too.

Bedard is vastly under-rated... when healthy he is a top pitcher in the game in my opinion. That being said I would imagine the Orioles are asking the world for him and for what it will cost I'm not interested. Roberts is the only guy on that team that I think makes sense.... Markakis is untouchable and don't need Ray since we have Jenks, for what it will cost anyway. Also since we have Fields at 3rd and Orlando Cabrera at SS no need for Miggy Tejada either.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) Jason Bay looked just awful last season, and the Pirates are asking for a ton for him. Yeah but because of that awful year it could lessen his trade value greatly. We should be able to keep atleast 2 of the 3 of our best prospects(Gio, Santos, Carter). Depending on how the organization views Danks he could be the centerpiece of a deal. I dont know how much it would cost for Bay, obviously more than just Danks...but I think if we can get a deal without overpaying immensely Bay will be very good for us and trade value never be lower.
-
yeah we need to draft an OT and OG in the first two rounds... Tait needs to be slid over to RT where I think he can still be effective for a year or two more and Kreutz is still good. Metcalf cost us big when he for no reason got that 15 yard penalty which led to a fg instead of possible TD, but id say we might have to keep one of him or Garza to fill a spot.

I think Cabrera is out of reach. But if we can put together a package that will bring Jason Bay over I would be a big supporter. Ideally I would love to trade for Bay, dumb Crede/Uribe, and than sign Andruw Jones and Alexi Ramirez. Worse case, Ramirez is a super sub and Richar starts at 2nd or best case he can be a top of the order guy for us and a very solid player. The only problem with this scenario would be the question of who would be at the top of the order with cabrera... but the middle of our order would be very imposing with Thome, Konerko, Bay, Jones, and Dye. Than, hopefully Fields takes the next step and also becomes a very dangerous hitter.

our defensive coordinator needs to be fired right now. The gameplan he had for the 2nd half was just plain horrible... if not for the Tillman pick in the endzone could have even been worse... they drove the entire field basicly 3 times. On offense, I dont like Turner but at same time if Peterson could just make one guy miss numerous times he would of had big yardage and the O-Line is just so unbelievable bad right now.
-
our coaching staff and o-line need to be taken out back and shot.
-
WTF are we doing on defense... they havent gone downfield at all the entire game... you think we would take away the short stuff.... instead of leaving guys wide open. This is a game we should have won that now looks like we will lose....
-
Wow TO had a TD but bounced off his hands right to Al Harris.... we got ourselves a ball game.
-
im watching it on TV ;p, started off crappy but has gotten good now. Aaron Rodgers has owned the dallas defense.... still I dont think much of him.

Joe Nathan on the way out the door...
GoodAsGould replied to RudyLawRules's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Their offense going to be much improved I think. Will prob get some more offensive talent in the Santana/Nathan trades to go along with guys like Mauer, Morneau, Cuddyer, Kubel, and Young. Like id expect them to want Cano as part of the trade with the yanks for Santana and im sure they will get someone good for Nathan as well. -
If that actually gets built, id really want to go and see a couple whitesox games in it.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) Young led the legue in GIDP and struck out 127 times with a K/BB of 5/1. He is young but his OPS was not that staggering either. He was a rookie batted near .300 and had an rbi total somewhere in the 90's. Now, it might not compare to Braun's rookie season but thats damn good.
