I was always a big fan of Willie Harris. I thought our team played best in 04 during that short stint when Valentin was out and Harris/Uribe patrolled the infield.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 30, 2007 -> 11:56 AM) If Fields ever gets a chance to play everyday in the major leagues, he will be in the top 5 in ks. Not neccesarily, not in todays MLB anyways. With guys like Dunn, Sizemore, Granderson, Andruw Jones etc. Fields would have a lot but idonno if he would be top5.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 29, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) Makes you wonder why so many people want him out of here? Because this is Kobe Bryant we are talking about? Ben Gordon if it comes to that would be a very valuable trading chip. Keep in mind its not like the Heat gave the world to get Shaq so I doubt we would too. Tyrus Thomas would be our Caron Butler and Gordon would be our Odom. Than Nocioni would be like the Brian Grant of the deal. Noc would need a new contract thats frontloaded and Ben Gordon would need a new contract for it to work. That leaves us with: PG:Kirk Hinrich SG:Kobe Bryant SF:Luol Deng PF:PJ Brown C: Ben Wallace Than we would have Duhon, Thabo, and Hawes be our main bench contributers. Maybe we can trade up if we have to and draft Glen Davis too. He could probably log some minutes in at PF. Trade up from our 2nd rounder that is. This trade would be beneficial to the Lakers too. They would have Gordon and Odom who can both score 20 a piece than Bynum and Thomas who are both young great athletes. Plus they would have the Farmar kid coming off the bench and a combo of Nocioni/Walton at SF. With their 19th pick they could add a tall guard too play with Gordon too most likely.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 27, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) Well I blame the Sox brass for not taking this route in the 1st place in terms of making him into a starter when they acquired him especially after he looked last season. He may look bad right now, which is why I think it's just worth taking the long - term route with him and stretching him out, which is what he actually wanted when we acquired him. He hasn't shown any success being a lefty reliever for us, so why not try a different role for him? Control wise is a big issue of course, but we've seen similar sort of pitchers like Thornton do a lot better, so there's arguments for keeping him as a reliever also. We'll see which way it goes. I agree make him a starter in Charlotte, even if he is longterm still a RP. By making him starter it gives him more innings and work to fix his control.

yeah he just came back from blisters and than to face a team like boston, not the recipe for success, so unless he becomes the next Josh beckett he should be fine.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) I hate the Cubs more than anyone on this site. However, they have a lot of talent on that team. We would be the favorites to win that division no doubt, so I dont know where he gets off making that comment about you. The NL central sucks, saying the Cubs prob have a better shot than us doesnt make you a Cubs fan it makes you a non-homer fan. -

QUOTE(AirScott @ May 26, 2007 -> 06:39 PM) Right now his numbers this season look just about the same as they did last year and the year before that -- besides for walks, that is. I'm not saying the door is closed on these three guys (and all the rest of those with awesome stuff who just haven't put it together), just that assumptions like that he will be a bonafide ace aren't that simple. His era is similar but he has thrown way less walks from last year, and over time thats going to start showing up in his era. So if a good pitching coach can make perhaps the wildest pitcher in mlb lower his walk rate to half in just 1 season why isnt there hope? -

QUOTE(AirScott @ May 26, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) You could've said the same thing about Denny Bautista and Daniel Cabrera, and the latter is getting his chance with a good pitching coach (perhaps the best) right now and he's just wild. Edwin Jackson is just another of those guys right now, but that's not saying he's hopeless. Cabrera has greatly improved this season. Obviously he is still walking too much but he is doing it at a far more smaller rate than he was last season. At this rate by the time he has the = amount of IP's from last season he will have half the walks. Your not going to fix it in just one season but if he continues to improve like this next year he will be a bonafide ace. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 26, 2007 -> 05:03 PM) I was at the game, and when Tererro hit that HR, there was no doubt about it. I had been talking s*** about him all game to my friends, and the pitch before the HR, I was complaining about him starting. Nonetheless, it was a f***ing bomb, so props to him. I couldn't tell at the game, but how in the hell did Crede misplay that line drive right to him to put the Drays up 1-0. Also, a funny story, in the section next to us, when Ozzie came out to talk to Buehrle, a bunch of guys were screaming "NO! DONT TAKE HIM OUT!" He didn't, they cheered, and 1 pitch later came a game-tying home run by Dukes. Hard to say for sure but the way it was hit Crede took the right approach but somehow it just stayed going the other way. Hawk said he never saw anything like it before.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 26, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) It nearly turned from a good team win to a good team loss because of that asinine move. We aren't good enough offensively to play childish beanball games yet (although I thought yesterday might have been as good an offensive game as we've had all year, first time we've hit a really good pitcher really hard in 2007). It would have been debatably intentional if not for the fact it was pretty obvious he tried to hit him with the first 2 pitches before succeding with the 3rd and getting a warning for it. If it's anybody but me posting how stupid it was, it is agreed with. However agreeing with me is siding with the devil No because you dont bean a guy to bring up the tying run to the plate. If there was 2 outs and nobody on than maybe you can make a case. But Ozzie isnt going to bean what is the easiest out in the lineup to bring the tying run to the plate. The reason nobody agrees with you because outside of the recruiting thread you make stupid comments.

Ryan Sweeney pitching in my sig ;p

well after his first or 2nd start his velocity was in the 80's, really hasnt been an update by anyone since than if its gone up or not. You would expect him to struggle some this year though considering the injuries. Next year he either dominates or he is officially done in my book.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 25, 2007 -> 03:21 PM) Because Danks and Contreras flipped Not really, Conteras stayed right in his normal spot, Danks took over Garlands spot. Since Massett pitched they didnt "flip"
-
Probably a good decision for him, Wilson Chandler should go back 2.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 25, 2007 -> 03:56 PM) If BA keeps this up for another couple of weeks, do you guys see him being recalled? I wouldn't mind having the ability to play Mack at third (or Fields if we DL Crede) and playing Erstad in LF. Unless we have one helluva June we might as well callup Fields, Anderson, and Sweeney.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 25, 2007 -> 01:01 PM) Actually it is now LRLRR since Danks swapped with Contreras. It used to be RRLRL, and either way it is still one RHP between two LHP. It doesn't really matter where the LHPs are as long as they do not follow each other. How do you figure its Left first, Contreras pitches before Danks in the rotation.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ May 24, 2007 -> 11:20 PM) Maggs was slow and lazy in the field when he was here. I remember getting pissed off at him many times for his lack of hustle in the field. He used to love to make that slide catch, which he probably could have ran through the ball to catch it most times if he was a good fielder. His area is not smaller than Ordonez's. By the way how much is Magglio making and how much is Dye making? When did I say I rather have Ordonez? But if you want to play that way which one is batting .229 and which one is batting .361. Dye was at one time a far superior OF than Ordonez ever was. But now, he is no better than what Magglio was pre-injury. Infact id say he is worse because Maggz while he did slide to balls he should of been able to run out Dye doesn't make it to those balls. I dont know how Magglio is now in the field since his injury but i bet his mobility is now similar to that of Dye. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 24, 2007 -> 07:06 PM) Unfortunately, that's going to be unbelievably difficult with the contracts. IMO, it takes either Hinrich or Wallace to pull it off. There are ways around that (Sign and Trade with Noc/PJ, Duhon, Khryapa, etc), but nothing that would really interest the Grizz. The Grizz still get to team Gasol with Horford or Yi or whoever they wind up picking, and that's a pretty good place to start from. The grizzlies need a wing player more than they need a Horford/Yi. Hakim Warrick is their PF and Gay is their SF who I guess can play SG if need be too. Personally I think they would benefit from drafting Corey Brewer and having Mike Miller come off the bench. They need a PG too but I like Brewer more than I do Conley jr. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 23, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) I can't believe even after posting a current line of .204/.268/.358 and being on the DL, people are still obsess with getting Rocco. I'm guessing if his name was "Adam Smith," he wouldn't be in so much demand by this board. Oh yeah, Dukes is a piece of s***. Where's soxfan101 on this? I stand by what I said, the one guy judging him on 2-3 articles which is dumb beyond belief. Obviously now that he threatened to kill his wife and her kids it changes things. In a lot of cases though, the media tries to make good people seem bad, and people that judge someone strictly by the media

You know his parents must of been totally f***ed up for him to be the way he is. Im usually one to blame the individual for his actions not the situation/parents/etc. but he is just so messed up beyond belief his parents had to have something to do with it.
