  1. There was a SP involved in that Carl Everett deal with the Rangers why didnt u mention him? If I remember right he had a chance to make the starting rotation this season but got injured I think.
  2. Why do the Royals have Burgos closing? Sure he has some great stuff but he has sucked in the bullpen and putting him in a closing role is only making it worse.....
  3. Bonderman and Verlander are still good. Bonderman was having a dominant start his last time out than just got a lot of bad luck late if I remember right. Also Maroth is only a couple weeks away and he was doing really good b4 dl'd and even if he isnt as good he is still a solid guy in the rotation.
  4. I still remember that series vs Toronto last season where Orlando Hudson had one spectacular play after another... it was ridiculous.
  5. How old is Logan Williamson in Great Falls? He seems to be doing pretty good but I dont know how old he is if it really matters...
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) No one's said it yet, but Joe Girardi = NL manager of the year. Without any doubt. actually its been said a lot. Basicly Joe Girardi and Jim leyland are the clear favorites and barring complete collapses they both won.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) You were asking for it with your rude response. lol just leave it alone man... if it goes any further than mods will delete thread or something. If anything just say take it to PM's. As for Uribe... I agree when he is 100% focused his talent level is good enough to be a gold glover. But I guess you can say the same thing about Freddy.... when focused he can be a dominant pitcher. And really im sick of those guys on this team... you should be "focused" all season long not just for certain games or for 2-3 weeks at a time and than nothing for months.
  8. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 06:59 AM) Furcal or bust. Uribe is not going anywhere. And honestly, I can't see why people around here get on his case so much. Maybe he hits .250, but aside from a bad week or two in the field, you don't get any better than Uribe with the leather. Last year id agree w/ you but so far this season his leather hasnt impressed me all that much. He still makes some good plays now and than but just in general he has not looked that great in the field this season.
  9. When he was here he seemed more lazy behind the plate than anything...Still he is also uncomfortable with most of your pitchers and them being young guys they probably throw more balls in the dirt than veterans would too.
  10. hey man... were still in it. And if we make the playoffs we have as good of chance as anyone to win. If Buehrle turned a page in KC and than with Garland and Contreras being solid.... with our offense we definitely on road to recovery. Just need at least one of Vazquez/Garcia to get their spiff together and we will be rolling. Listen the RedSox would of lost to the Royals w/out Ortiz/Manny so dont worry 2 much about losing to them when we lost both our big hitters and possibly our worse pitcher on the hill.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 08:08 AM) I was very glad they didn't trade the likes of Pinto and Vargas for a few months of Alfonso Soriano. I think every baseball fan, for the good of game, would like to see them succeed. I know I certainly do over high payroll franchises like the Mets and Yankees. Its pretty crazy that I think its what 5 seperate yankees all make more money than the entire team... Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina, Jason Giambi, Derek Jeter, and A-Rod.
  12. They are definitely a fun to watch. They got a real chance at the wildcard and I hope they make it. Also Miguel Olivo has really hit his stride there hitting in the .290's which is really nice to see him succeed. If not this season im sure next the Marlins will win the wildcard. It might take a couple more seasons with them getting better and Pedro/Glavine getting worse or gone for them to pass the mets.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Tell me when Reyes can actually stay healthy for an extended period of time. you should be replying to hitlesswonder
  14. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 06:36 AM) Didn't the Red Sox and Patriots win their respective sports' championships in the same year, as well as like the Celtics winning their division? Oh yeah, that's right I hate almost anything East Coast sports, but give a city it's due when it's necessary. well the patriots arent actually in boston =p. And Celtics did nothing in the playoffs... so no
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 06:07 AM) Well, that means he must B teh suxors No but if he was so much better than anything we have in our system Id think I would of known about him. Not neccesarily and Im not discrediting if he is a good prospect or not just the statement that he is so much better than anything in our system.
  16. I wasnt a big fan of Katie Holmes but I thought she was pretty good in the first one.... but supposedly she was a bitz to deal with and thanks to Tom she wont be back for sure. The choice of actor for Joker is also very interesting but they had to have joker... cant have batman without the joker. Just as long as they dont bring back the penguin or the riddler...
  17. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 05:43 AM) Broadway hasn't come anywhere close to dominating AA. He's giving up more hits than IP (143/136) and his K/9 rate is nothing to write home about (around 6 or so...). Couple that with a max 90 MPH fastball and it's hard to see him as more than a fifth starter in the bigs at best. I will admit, I haven't seen him pitch and perhaps he's more impressive in person than on paper. I hope I'm wrong and he has a great career, but the numbers don't look great. As for Malone, age is less important for pitching prospects than hitters. I don't what Malone's stuff is like now, and his control isn't great. But he's a LHP and will probably be a good FA pickup for someone. I think he could spend a few seasons in the bigs in someone's pen. Whomever said that the Sox system is one of the worst, I have to agree. St. Louis is usually regarded as a pretty poor system, but the have Rasmus and Reyes. The Sox have no prospects even close to those two. Reyes is in the majors so he is as much of a prospect as B-Mac or Jenks are....and I have never heard of Rasmus.
  18. When a guy is killing you this much whats the point of pitching to him... its like how Mike Sweeney is to us when he is healthy. Pitch around him if he swings at balls thats ok....but dont give him anything good to hit.
  19. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) You're crazy if your ideal offseason doesnt include Crawford... We arent trading Brandon McCarthy so I didnt feel like a need to include Crawford since it wont happen.
  20. freddy garcia is offically trash... he is dead meat... automatic loss...
  21. It seems we have had so many defensive gems in the outfield against us... and than we get to watch Podsenick look stupid in the OF
  22. someone is going back to the bench next game...
  23. I hate Freddy Garcia soooo much this season. He helped us win a WS last year but he is becoming like Politte and Widger... I dont want him on this team anymore....2 bad cant do anything about it.
  24. Id say every year it really should be between Chicago and New York. You cant count LA because they dont have a NFL team and its their own fault too.
