QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 06:09 AM) Ummm, one of the best curve balls in the minors (arguably the best in the southern league) mixed in with a major league caliber changeup (still developing) and a darn solid FB (I don't get where you guys say he doesn't have one, he easily throws a major league average fastball, velocity wise). I seriously laugh at everyone that thinks he throws everything but the kitchen sink at guys. Flash is starting to gather followers...

QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) There is no need to wear sox gear at a regular cubs game. None at all, unless you really really need attention. there is no reason to go to another team's park and start problems... but if your a cubs fan and your friends invite you to a sox game I dont see a problem if your wearing a cubs hat/jersey as long as you dont start s***.

Who will be the best QB in the league this year?
GoodAsGould replied to cuddlyboy26's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I cant believe someone is argueing something where it shouldnt be close. I love Chris Chambers one of my favorite WR's in the game. But Randy Moss and Cris Carter are both better WR's than Chambers. Ill say the TE's are about equal in pass catching ability. Moss and Carter are both hall of fame talents... Chambers is good but not hall of fame good. -
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 04:56 AM) I thought we should have kept him but it looks like its worked out for us and him for him to go to Oakland where he is THE MAN in a lineup again. Early in the year it appeared that Thome was vastly superior and even though Rowand isn't hitting well you could actually make an argument that Thome/Anderson vs. Thomas/Rowand is a near wash. Kind of strange it worked out that way Im not sure about that... Thome was a pure monster in the first half while Frank was hitting HR's but nothing much else and wasnt even as hitting as many bombs as Thome. During the 2nd half or a little b4 that Thomas has been great but so has Thome and Anderson has started to come around in the 2nd half while Rowand has been slipping. Rowands avg. is down to .255.. his stats are still superior to Anderson's but .255 isnt that good.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 04:59 AM) Mark Prior, AJ Burnett and Kerry Wood should take lessons. Man does that kid have heart. I do agree that it isn't the right thing to do, he was taking one for the team sort of speak and still pitched well if that's true other than his last start even though 4 earned in his case is "bad". Dont you mean Liriano should be taking lessons on what has happened to those 3? Especially for pitchers that put a lot of strain on there arms the worse thing you can do is try to pitch through it. Now things change if your team is in the playoffs/worldseries but during the regular season its no good.

you forgot the knights played 2 games today so certainly not you . Too lazy to look it up but they won 3-2 or something like that.

NFL owners elect Goodell as new commissioner
GoodAsGould replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Is he as conservative as Taglibue or whatevr.... I cant believe they took away touchdown celebrations... -
Garcia for his last 3-4 starts now hasnt been great but has been good enough to keep us in games... and with how low my expectations are for him this season its all I ask for.
-
Hope nits nothing serious... has a bright future ahead of him.
-
Lol the one about throwing the balls back is so retarded... the reason they do it is because they are classless and a bunch of drunk idiots.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 05:32 AM) Good post. Also, Frank has 3 MVPs. 1993/1994/2000 Giambi can go fist himself. Giambi can go fist himself all he wants but Frank still only has 2 MVPs.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 05:15 AM) To this thread... just wow.... But I do have a question. Why did we waste a decent spect for Sandy Alomar Jr.? Why the hell is he on this team? Unless Buehrle pitches like an ace from here on out, there's no reason why a catcher whose CERA was just as bad as Widgers should be here. We didnt waste a "decent" prospect for Sandy... we wasted a 25 year old in AA. At that age you should be expected to dominate AA if not AAA to be considered any sort of a prospect.

This team pisses me off sooo much... but thats because there is so much talent and we seem to be struggling despite it. I still have faith that we will get to the playoffs and once in the playoffs anything can happen. I just hope we start a streak soon or at least own up the yanks.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 03:53 AM) Most Everyone thought he was done, including me and I'm as big a Frank Thomas fan as you will find. Definition of "done": 2002 type numbers only with fewer ABs. Who would have put money down before the season started that Frank could do what he's currently doing? Not even Ken Harrelson would take that bet. It's just insane how great he's been over the past 2.5 months and the topper is that the Standing O that he got from the Sox fans appears to have started the whole damned thing. Dont under-estimate the Hawk.

Garza could be solution to 5th spot in rotation...

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) And considering we took Broadway instead of Garza what does that say about our scouting. I remember Flash's comment during that draft, well whomever the twins pick will be here to dominate us in a few years. Garza is ready to come out with a 97mph fastball. A lot of teams passed up Garza. Broadway has done better than most prospects taken ahead of him in that draft. So what does that say about every other team ahead of the twins scouting? Also I still have high hopes on Whistler. He has 4 really good pitches and he has finally been able to use them effectively. Id say Whistler, Broadway, and Mcculloch are all something to look forward to and possibly Harrel as well. -
What do you think of this year's Marlins?
GoodAsGould replied to MarlinFan84's topic in The Diamond Club
I wouldnt be so down on Olivo. He has really been good for an entire season now... half with you guys and half with the Padres. Also he always had the talent and never had trouble hitting lefties worse case. -
Benson Carted off with injury
GoodAsGould replied to 34FG56MB52JC's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Some people are going overboard with it... was the defense giving Benson some shots... yes... but they werent trying to hurt him and its not because they "like" TJ. Its because he has to prove himself to get their respect.... -
The point would be to get back to what brought us success in 05.... pitching. Trading away Dye would certainly downgrade our offense but if we get a top of the rotation starter and than with brandon we will be able to get rid of the 2 duds in our rotation. Its not likely to happen but its certainly a thought KW should think of if Oswalt is on the trading block.
-
The reason I suggest Mathews is he is a much better athlete and has always had the tools. He started to turn it around last season and this season he has rocked also he is more of a leadoff hitter than Dellucci is. And we all know how Ozzie/KW love speed so he makes more sense.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) The thing is with Matthews, he's probably going to get a bigger contract than Dellucci, plus if you sign him either him or Anderson would have to play LF, which negates their defensive value. The Rangers have definitely produced some good OF's though. Yeah but when you have 2 guys who are great CF's defensively in 1 OF that is going to be some great defense. The difference between Mathews Jr/Anderson to Podsenick would be huge. Personally though im on the idea that we trade Dye this off-season while his value is sky high and maybe package him with one of our starters for a Oswalt or something like that.
-
Personally Id rather sign DeRosa or Gary Mathews Jr. than Dellucci... but all 3 are good choices and all 3 will be ex-rangers just to add it in . I guess it would actually go in this order Mathews Jr. Dellucci DeRosa.

Floyd Landis tests positive for testosterone
GoodAsGould replied to Balta1701's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Only thing worse than a cheater is a cheater that gets caught and lies about it...I just wish once one of these dopes after being caught will admit it instead of 1000 excuses. -
Huff is a f/a to be also right? So with Clemens, Huff, and Bagwell thats a lot of money.. also if they trade Oswalt like some rumors have been stating.
-
Yeah Shelby was probably the only pick I was really happy about besides Mcculloch.

After release from White Sox, Widger still wants to play
GoodAsGould replied to Goldmember's topic in The Diamond Club
I think he was shocked at being released yes... but he seems like he has apreciated all we did for him and everything. I dont think anywhere he comes off as whiny. A course if you pick out 1 sentence you can twist what a person is actually saying.....the point is to read from begining to end.
