QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) It was reported on Sportcenter that the White Sox and Tigers are out of the Soriano trade talks. I think a good move for both teams... Humberto Sanchez and Cameron Maybin are both 2 talented for a 2 month rental.. even if they dont pan out at this point I wouldnt trade either. For us B-Mac is 2 important to the future of our rotation for Soriano.

QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) I'm with ya... seen guys have worse conditions than Garland and perform very well. Some guys just refuse to let anything stop them or use as an excuse. Its being sick on top of the weather conditions... none of our bullpen guys were sick and look how they fared... and our bullpen has been the strength as of late.

If the Rangers can get that deal done their lineup will be stacked especially if the sign Clee long term. Mathews jr. Ian Kinsler Michael Young Miggy Tejeda Mark Tex. Carlos Lee Mark Derosa Gerald Laird John Botts... Im not sure on first name? or Brad Wilk but not sure if he is a f/a to be.

QUOTE(korntownballa @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 08:06 AM) I just love excuses! If you check WSI there was a post about him being sick way b4 the game started.... Being sick and in that kind of heat... yeah that wasnt going to be pretty no matter what.

I can see why football rookies get paid more than baseball/basketball because shorter careers in general and contracts arent guaranteed.... But the amount that these guys are being paid is still ridiculous. I dont think they should be making half of what they do in there signing bonues.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) Huh, Lackey may be the best non Twins pitcher in the AL. Why in the hell would you trade that for Soriano???? Didnt notice the season he is having this year... which would be kind of counter-productive if he was traded. Still of all those players... Ervin Santana, Jered Weaver, Brandon Wood, and Howie Kendrick I think Lackey has the lowest ceiling and would move him b4 one of those 4.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:27 AM) No, I'm not saying that as I didn't watch the game. I'm talking in general terms here. Yes, you play every game to win, but you don't cripple your bullpen for a week to win one game ... or for three days. You want your players, not just the pen, to be as close to full strength in Sept. as they are in May. You absolutely cannot just play to win today without considering the long term effects on your team. Any manager that does that will watch his team hit a wall about August 15th and sink like a lead weight through September. Well I agree to an extent... as in you have to give your bullpen guys a break every so often and position players as well for the most part. But in this specific game... I have no problem with Ozzie wasting the pen considering the heat and type of game it was.

Minnesota Twins Post Mortem Playoff Thread
GoodAsGould replied to hammerhead johnson's topic in The Diamond Club
Hold it a bit flash... Garza is a nice prospect but he hasnt done anything in the majors yet. Lets see what he does against major league pitchers b4 we annoint him the next best thing. Also regardless he isnt going to be what Santana or Liriano are.... -

Barring getting rocked an innings 1-5 Vazquez for sure should be out there to start the 6th. But if he gives up a leadoff walk/single or anything other than an out id want him taken out. To be fair against the Twins he made some good pitches and they just beat him... even the one to Morneau most hitters wouldnt of taken out of the park. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:07 AM) Too many around here think that way. Sometimes you have to take a chance on a loss to keep things lined up for the long haul. So your saying we should of kept B-Mac in and got toasted and ended up losing this game? You play everygame to win it...We might not even be in position to win this next game so why throw away 1 game to try to win another? Also riske wasnt ever used and Thornton only faced 1 batter so im sure both of them are more than ready to go.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) Gordon Edes: "The Sox this week offered center fielder Coco Crisp to the White Sox for left-handed All-Star Mark Buehrle, perhaps hoping that Buehrle's recent struggles might persuade White Sox GM Kenny Williams to move him. But the White Sox turned the deal down." *** Podsednik and a prospect? When you get a chance pass the crack pipe. What I dont understand its ok to "pass the crack pipe" to ask for Buehrle.... but not ok when we offer Pods and a prospect. If you ask me which of the 2 are most likely to happen Id say the 2nd one 100%.

just another reason why he didnt belong out there to start the 6th.....

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) In games that Anderson's on the bench, we have the worst outfield defense in baseball. Even with Anderson in the field, we have the worst throwing defense in baseball. Our LF should be a DH in A ball. How do you figure? Both Anderson and Dye have plus arms... And while Pods arm is below avg. not so much to make us the worse throwing or even close to it. Now on the first part of your statement I agree 100%. Well maybe the Reds are pretty piss poor too with Dunn and Griffey.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) our team needs mojo... a win is a win.... especially in this heat im sure they just want to get this game over with. You will get all the mojo you need if you sweep a team and than go on the face the Royals. -

What were the Cubs thinking..... maybe if they didnt use him 1-9 in the order he could of been something special for them. -
your going way 2 overboard on this..... you suggested something rather dumb and a poster called you out for it. Everyone at some point suggests something dumb especially when it comes to baseball... it wasnt anything personel.

I love what Jermaine Dye has been doing with the bat... but man whenevr I watch he looks sooo slow in the OF. I know he has had a lot of injuries but he still looks fast or above avg. on the base paths.... -
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) Frank's coming around after a terrible start this season, isn't his average getting somewhat close to .250 now? I think it was .252 last time I checked... and he is hitting a lot of HR's and has a good deal of RBI's especially since he does not play as much as most starters.
-
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) He's sitting "no," there is no reason not to propose this deal even if the chance of the White Sox accepting it is slim and none. There was no slim in the deal it was all none. But I guess no hurt in asking......

I dont think I ever want to see Podsenick an a RBI situation unless we are facing the astros... -
so skipping low A altogether? I still dont understand what the point of sending him to rookie ball was.
-
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) I would love to get Coco and have him in CF and BA in Left....that would improve the defense majorly... Anderson is a much better CF than Coco.... sure Coco has made some highlight reel catches but in general he is nothing special in CF while good in LF. Also he is not worth a SP and if we did that trade we would need to get something else as well.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) Unfortunately, Abreu b****es about lead-off and wants to be a 3/4 type hitter. At least, this is what my friends from Philly tell me. A course going to a team that has a chance to win the WS can always change someones mind about things.

Lets see Garland throw that changeup strikeout against Tejeda and win again. He has been the only one able to win as of late so he should be the one who gives us our first series victory too.. since the AS break.
