  1. I dont know if Abreu will even waive his no trade clause to go to Detroit. Ive heard more than a couple times that he wants to go to the yanks only.
  2. QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) I'd demand a Bailey and a Zumaya (or something along those lines). and than you will be stuck with Crawford. Which isnt really a bad thing although with a crowded OF they got the longer the wait the worse.
  3. QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) "Joe Borchard is not for trade. No way." Anyone remember that? and he wasnt until he lost nearly all his trade value.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:21 AM) Bailey in 4 starts for AA has an 0.50 ERA. He could be up by the end of the season. I know lots of people around us want us to trade Freddy or Javy for a top notch SP prospect. But ever since the Kazmir trade happened, more GM's have become much more wary of dealing top notch SP prospects, when they all know how important it is to have good young pitching at the major league level. id say so especially since this year they have shown they can have an immediate impact(Verlander, Liriano, Lester, Weaver, Papelbon, Josh Johnson)
  5. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:19 AM) And this is in response to Flash's post about Anderson and his .200 stat line as well; Have a look at the guys who were drafted before BA; Delmon Young Rickie Weeks Kyle Sleeth Tim Stauffer Chris Lubanski Ryan Harvey Nick Markakis Paul Maholm John Danks Ian Stewart Michael Aubrey Lastings Milledge Aaron Hill Ryan Wagner Only 3 of those guys Weeks, Markakis and Maholm are currently in the major leagues along with BA. Someone like Ryan Harvey is majorly struggling down in A ball. BA's shown lately he does have what it takes to hit at this level, and the Torii Hunter comparisons are pretty spot on at this stage. I don't think you can really argue majorly about the Sox's drafting when the guys they have picked in the past few years have made it to the majors, or are doing very well in AA or AAA. At least you know they are going to make it instead of being a high risk - high reward type of draft pick that may never make it out of the major leagues. Isnt Aaron Hill playing for Toronto? Also Milledge, Stewart, Danks, and Young are all pretty big time prospects who should be all-stars. Not as sure on Stewart at the other 3. On a side note.. Markakis was that RF for the Orioles that we saw not 2 long ago correct? If so he is very very impressive looking.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:11 AM) Difference being? Yes correct me if im wrong but hasnt wite said some ridiculous stuff in the past as well. Ill give him enough credit that he isnt as ridiculous as Jeckle but I remember some pretty ??? posts where Wite was serious.
  7. Thats kind of disheartening to hear that Duffy wont sign with us... he was one of the few guys I was really excited about. Overall in terms of players we drafted and signed this doesnt seem like a very impressive group. Although my favorite prospect of the group Shelby is starting to hit better after a slow start.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:45 AM) Why do people bother asking this? Seems rather obvious... sometimes with some of the stuff you see on message boards where people are serious.... green is neccesary.
  9. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 06:28 AM) We should offer Ernie Young and Jeff Farnsworth to them...those two are just straight up destroying AAA right now. you forgot the green right?
  10. Ive always been a big Garland fan so I can pat myself on the back now that he has begun to turn his season around. A course i was a big fan of getting Vazquez too so that hasnt looked as good. But ive always been against Freddy so i can be proud of that too =p
  11. we could talk about him changing shoe sizes all season long!
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) I dont buy this excuse. Roy Oswalt also threw over 240 innings last year and pitched just as long as our starters into the world series. Guess what, he still throws the ball hard. Id say Roy Oswalt is better than all our starters too even Contreras... also he did miss some time this season for injury right? And you cant count Clemens because he got hurt in the WS and took first half of season off. And look at Andy Petitte isnt he having a miserable year? Also hasnt Brandon Backe missed some time because of injury this season as well? Yeah Id say the Astro's pitching has suffered as well. The good thing is though, if we go deep into the playoffs this season as well I think our pitchers will be more used to having to pitch the extra inning's and we will see them perform back to normal next season. A course they also could be even more worned out and be even worse but....
  13. Thats a crazy ass cat.... our cats used to bring small animals in but usually they would drop it in front of us and than start playing with it.... After we scolded them enough times for doing this they finally stopped. Although every so often although rare now they will bring in a bird. I guess the reason they do it is to impress their owners according to the vet.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 06:18 AM) It's really nice to see him becoming a prospect again. it would be nice to see him promoted and see if he is the real deal...
  15. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) And then he got traded to Chicago No he was having a really good year if I remember in Seattle that season...
  16. He wasnt the one that did the Kazmir trade......
  17. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) Hard to make dinner when your husband's beating your face in front of your friends and passersby. you took a joke and ruined it.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) Actually, I'd say he did learn the proper lesson, and learned it well. As long as he was able to keep pissing people off, people would keep reading his work, he'd keep appearing on ESPN, and people would keep starting threads about him on mesasge boards. In other words, if he doesn't change, people still care about him, and he keeps his job. Yeah its good to a certain degree but if you go overboard its going to get you fired. So no he didnt learn his lesson because he went overboard on the radio and got him fired and now went overboard on his column and looks like he is probably getting fired again or suspended for a long time. Who cares if people are talking about you on a message board if you lose your job?
  19. so now he can talk in complete sentences and that is an improvement lol? Well Im not going to argue I barely ever listen to the radio anyways.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) That's a little over the top IMO. He has shown signs of improvement and I think he has a pleasant voice, an important factor when listening to a radio crew. again what improvement are you talking about. To me he is just as horrid as he was in spring training. I guess there isnt as much silence.....
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) You think Jay would learn not to throw around the insults so freely anymore after getting suspended from the Sun Times for attacking this very organization. Wise up, moron. Why he didnt learn after getting fired from his radio gig... some people dont change for the better or the worse. In Jay's case... its the worse.
  22. Hopefully he can run back to Pittsburgh and never be heard from again.
  23. We arent getting any players in this deal which makes me question it more. We could easily do the same deal if not more in the middle of the season or even the begining if the JR Smith experiment didnt work out. Why not give the kid a chance in a new environment and all and see if he can turn it around... what are we going to do w/ two 2nd rounders anyways.
  24. QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 03:56 AM) Chris has improved alot since he first started. He doesnt sound like a robot anymore. thats a lie... He is just as horrible as he was in spring training.
  25. QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) Yeah, who'd want anything to do with a guy leading his league in OBP? No matter the OBP 15 million is too much money for a guy who doesnt hit for power and plays crap defense.
