Im pretty sure he said he was always a yankee fan and always wanted to play for them plus the money is the reason he went to the yanks.

How does Jenks compare to other RP's though... It seems like he is in every game I hope he isnt overworked.

I'm finally off of the Podsednik bandwagon (long)
GoodAsGould replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The first half of last season Podsenick was great... than in the 2nd half he slowed down but he was still hitting fine just couldnt steal worth a damn. He also came through in the playoff run as well. This season he has kind of sucked and I dont know how anyone can defend him. That being said he is better than Owens and probably better than Pablo if Pablo was a fulltime starter. And Figgins was available but with the Angels still in the running it would probably take a lot to get him. -
QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 03:14 AM) He's a thug. There's nothing else to say really. It was classless but I wouldnt call it a thug without knowing everything. Those 2 were going at it the whole game.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 01:04 AM) Manny is an awful comparison. If Fields is going to play LF like Manny then I don't want Fields playing LF. no doubt but the point is that LF is an easy position to learn and Fields is athletic enough to play in the OF and play it well.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) He's hasn't played LF in the minors. KW can see this situation as easily as we can. If he wanted Josh at left in the future he would be playing there in AAA. It's a near guarantee that he won't be playing LF. Best case scenario in terms of LF for Josh is that he adds it as a position he can platoon in next year as he learns on the fly or something. He won't be starting there. There are reasons for summer leagues. In all honesty we have no idea how KW sees the situation. Its not like LF is really the hardest position to learn either... if manny can do it anyone can. Im not saying he will be in LF but im saying it isnt out of the possibility.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:40 AM) RazorBall -- He should get a shot in the next year or two. Maybe with WAS next year, heck even KC. He gets the most out of his clubs. heard him connected to the Cubs if Dusty gets fired.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) Fields looks like a DH down the road anyway. Maybe next year he can play 3rd and DH when Crede or Thome are off. He'd only be playing 2-3 times a week but that's the best case scenario I see, at least within this organization. . Ever heard of the position LF........ A course its no guarantee he will be there far from it, but its not out of the question at all.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) Yeah he's got the talent to be a superstar, but with his mental makeup, there's no way he'll become that. The D-Rays should attempt the move him when they can get the most for him. Plus they've got the likes of Crawford, Baldelli and Gomes in the OF already, so there's not exactly a spot open for him anytime soon. Gomes is more of a DH. And while he has a lot of power prospects like Dukes/Young are much more talented than him anyways.

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) i think the worse has to be in xmen when the cgi wolverine digs his claws in and swings around the statue of liberty (fighting sabertooth, iirc--been a lil' while since i last saw it)... Those 2 scenes didnt bother me much after I saw the movie Days of Thunder or whatevr it was. The movie where they go back in time to shoot dinosaurs and than someone steps off the path and it messes up the entire world.

Who will be the next reliever turned into gold by KW?
GoodAsGould replied to beautox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Boone Logan is starting to get his act together in triple A. And considering he had barely any high A experiance thats still a huge jump for him. -
Thats twice now since being recalled Crede has thrown 1 good inning but than giving up a run or two after coming in for a 2nd. He really doesnt deserve a roster spot at all with how he has pitched but if he is going to stay with the big league club lets hope at least he is restricted to 1 inning only. I was a huge Politte supporter his first season with the whitesox and knew he would fix things up. Than a course in 2005 he had that great year... now he is even worse than he was in 04 and ill just say I wont shed a tear if Tracey/Montero/Hermanson are called up and he is released. That being said I really do appreciate his contributions to the 05 team and how he was a huge part of thats team dominance.

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 02:06 AM) I cant believe i watched that from begining to end.

It looked like a good movie to me.... Also I think Afflek gets way 2 much hate in general..... He isnt that bad of an actor it was JLo that brought down his reputation.

I'm pretty much done with Javier Vazquez.
GoodAsGould replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It took Contreras 1 half season of suckiness, 1 half season of improvement but not all the way there yet, and than perfection sense. Vazquez has gone through his half season of suckiness and id hope to see improvement out of him this 2nd half of the season. Still im more confident with him on the mound than I am with Freddy Garcia. Unlike with Freddy at least all the rest of our pitchers havent lost their "stuff" and in Buehrles case control. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) More of a general thought, there's a lot of s*** that's posted in Trade Winds that really has no value to it. there is a reason the tradewinds were created.... to make a spot for useless threads

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) The Knights rotation has been very solid with Philly, Haegs, Tracey, Redding and Randolph. It'd take a callup for one of them or someone going down/released for Broadway or Lumsden to move up. However, Redding and Randolph are likely gone after this year. Exactly.... Redding and Randolph are non-prospects.... while they might be doing well its more important that we care for our prospects first.
-
I think Ray Liotta should stay in double A. Lumdsen and Broadway probably should both be promoted making room for Harrel and Whisler who also should be promoted.

QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) Sorry, but Loz: OoT, Loz: MM, Perfect Dark, Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, HM64... >>>> Goldeneye. No way Goldeneye >>>>> than all that crap. And the best mario kart racing game was for super nintendo . Also I loved those wrestling games too... back in the day when N64 ruled it was mario kart, wrestling, and goldeneye 24/7... mostly goldeneye.

QUOTE(Damen @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) Eh...over the course of a season, you're ERA, WHIP, and BAA tell you the kind of pitcher you are, not you're W/L record. I don't buy the crap about pitchers being natural winners. If you are a natural winner, you won't give up 6 ER just becuase your team spotted you 7. Im not saying a W/L record is the most important stat.... but a lot of people just throw it out completely...... The only times it should be thrown out completely is when you get Roger Clemens like run support.
-
His era is way bloated from his first outing...... take that out and he has been fine.
-
but thats not all true..... a lot of starters pitch differently depending on the game. If their team scores 1 run they wont give up any... if their team scores 10 they will give up 6-8. Im not saying this is the case for Garland but sometimes pitchers are just natural winners and others are just natural losers despite era. A course in the case of Clemens last season.... it was just pathetic team offense.

QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 06:41 AM) It's Tampa Bay, they'd probably ask for Contreras. Tampa Bay has made its way by asking for the world for any of its players.....It worked recently 2 just look at Scott Kazmir and look at Victor Zambrano. They might be a terrible run franchise but ill give them credit they get back talent in their trades. Although Im pretty sure they are under new ownership now so maybe they will be better..... 1 thing for sure is they need a new stadium.
-
Right now I feel most confident when Buehrle, Contreras, and Garland are on the mound. Freddy Garcia I have no faith in and im starting to feel the same for Vazquez as well. Vazquez easily should be our best pitcher or 2nd best behind Contreras I have no clue why he doesnt succeed.
-
I still want to see what his stat line is at the end of the season.
