Josh Fields mention on rotoauthority.com

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) All of the players you mentioned showed good eyes and plate discipline at the minor league level and were prolific at drawing walks, something Fields is not. The chances of him being as productive as any of the players you mentioned are slim to none. You do realize his first season in AAA... Fields is 6th in the league in walks. Yes right now he is K's way too much but to say he isnt prolific at drawing walks.... Especially when the guys ahead of him are mostly guys with major league experiance. Like Carlos Pena and Heep Sop Choi.... also BJ Upton who offensively has been ready for the majors for awhile now. also let me add Josh Fields is leading AAA in OPS, 2nd in avg, 2nd in OBP to Lastings Milledge, like i said 6th in walks, tied for 7th in HR's, 2nd in doubles, tied for 4th in hits..... all in his first year at AAA. But you 2 are obviously right Fields is nothing special because he K's a lot. -

A lot of guys strike out a ton in the big league level... I think you guys are overlooking his K's. More important than Fields K's are his high avg. and OBP to go with his good power and rbi total. Hell Adam Dunn breaks records by King so much and would you not want him on the team if it was only hitting... or Hank Blalock K's a ton and our very own Jim Thome K's a bunch. Dont put 2 much emphasis on the K's. -
QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:02 AM) Notice how D.J. was trying to restore some professionalism, but Hawk would have none of it. Not that I disagree with the sentiments of what Hawk was saying, but it was very unprofessional for the "voice of the White Sox" to be calling for line drives off the ptcher's kneecap and advocating waiting for him outside the clubhouse. The real problem here is the Sox are still using that outdated technology--a land line from the dugout to the bullpen. Seeing that it was in Texas, the Rangers probably intercepted the call and relayed the wrong message to the bullpen. They've been known to do things like that--ask Buerhle about the lights in CF. Why don't the Sox use those new-fangled wireless phones like the Cubs? Maybe they could get a deal from Joan Cusack. I hope to god you dont actually believe that crap.... That was one of the few times Buehrle was just plain out talking out of his ass and was the most bs reason ive ever heard a pitcher come up for a reason to why they lost.

I dont see why everyone is saying Ozzie was wrong to be mad at Tracey. At the moment he is our least valuable guy in the bullpen and was going to be sent down so if it made sense for anyone to beam a player it would be him to do it. And I dont care if your a rookie Tracey has played the game long enough to know what to do in those situations. Also if your a rookie than you better damn well do what the manager tells you to do... especially a rookie who isnt essential to the team. And its not like Tracey is a stranger on beaming people he has done it plenty of times in high A especially if I remember correctly.

He could play in a winter league at LF and really should be able to adjust. A course he wont be perfect out there but it isnt like we are used to having a great fielding LF anyways with Carlos Lee and Podsenick. Like its been mentioned either CF or SS would probably have to be replaced in that scenario unless Uribe and Anderson show something this season. -
My shows I like on the radio are Mike North in the morning but I also like Mike and Mike and usually switch between the 2, Salisbury and Rosenbloom and than the Dan Patrick show. Besides those I guess I dont mind the guys on after Mike North but I hate Murph and I hate Boers and Bernstein. Im also not really a big fan of the Mac, Jurko, and Harry show.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) Fields is definitely going to give management a tough decision in the near future. I dont think so... assuming Crede keeps this offense up they will prob work on resigning him and than move Fields to LF. I think Uribe might be out of a job too next season assuming he doesnt turn things around in a big way. Because than either Pablo/Cintron can take over or someone from the outside can and become the new leadoff man.

He sounds like he has good stuff and has been relatively successful in triple A how come he was out of baseball?

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) YEAH! He's getting paid a LOT of money - how dare he be HUMAN and not make every single play we want him to??? I sure am glad I've never made any mistakes in my life, otherwise I might not have this moral high ground to stand upon and judge others! Yeah! He's getting paid more than any of us are - How dare someone makes a comment about his defense when they cost us runs. Im sure glad that i pay 60 dollars a ticket plus money to pay for a train ride and a taxi and than more money for food but dont have the right to be dissapointed in one of our players defense.

I dont really trust pitchers for the Padres. They play in a weak division in an extreme pitchers park. He has only pitched 18 innings for them but Jon Adkins has 2.50 era in that park.
-
I think Whistler has shown he can handle high A now. He had a slow start kind of but has been dominating for awhile now. I wonder if he gets promoted soon to double A. Also its good to see Anderson Gomes having success in low A maybe if he keeps it up he can get back to high A.
-
their bullpen is pretty lousy anyways.... so once his dl stint is over he will just stay up there.

any relation to Mark Texeira?

Kameron Loe is a pretty good pitcher but im pretty sure he has sucked pretty bad as of late. Still Wouldnt take him for granted.

Should the KKK be allowed to protest at historical sites?

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) If some of these minorities had an ounce of pride and integrity they would view affirmative action as a slap in the face. Instead, they greedily accept preferential treatment because all they are looking for is a handout and a way to get over on the system. All I have in a response to you Nuke is :puke -

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 03:58 AM) Umm, someone from over a hundred and fifty years ago told you he regrets ever being part of the KKK?!?! Its not hard to learn history...... maybe if you pickup a book it will tell you about how someone from over a hundred and fifty years ago can tell you how he regretted being part of KKK. I wasnt even studying him... was studying the Civil War history and found out about Forrester through that. -
Mac and Harry fight in studio

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) Here's the link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...umnistfront-hed Harry is a whiny kiss-ass, while Mac is a big boob who thinks he is right and everyone else is wrong. I like their show, but Mac hasn't been the same since they split him and Terry Boers up. As much as I think it's funny, Mac and Jurko basically bully Harry all show. And I hate Harry, so I can't believe I actually defend him in this. Besides the part with Harry being whiny..... I fail to agree with you on everything else. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) I fail to see what that has to do with anything considering they left the same offseason. Because we didnt hear anything negative about Clee b4 that.
-
I dont know how much of a "bad teamate" he is as in he just didnt fit in here.... Out of the Brewers camp Ive heard nothing but good things about him and ive heard teamates compliment him and one of them said Carlos Lee is a lot of the reason for his success in the majors... On the whitesox he lost his best friend Magglio... not only that but than there was a war of words between the franchise and his best friends... and lets face it.... as much as I love Ozzie, he isnt going to rub off to well on a lot of players.
-
I actually think Izturis is a pretty good player and has a lot of talent.... but he isnt really that big of an upgrade over what we currently have out there especially coming back from an injury. And btw he is much better than Mackowiak and more talented than Cintron. He also is very talented defensively so we wouldnt lose anything from Uribe to him. But still I dont think he would be a real upgrade this season and isnt worth getting.

How does KKK even take themselves seriously when the original grandmaster or whatevr u want to call it regretted ever being part of it. -
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) Dude, you really need to start doing some research and checking facts before you keep making these blanket statements. :headshake I dont think anyone takes them seriously anymore after so many.

Official Soxtalk 2006 World Cup Thread
GoodAsGould replied to DePloderer's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I was just in China for the last 2 weeks.... and they didnt even mention US soccer over there.... it was all asian countries and than it talked about Germany's team a lot. -
Well we havent really had any guys that dominated the minors lately come to the bigs. We have had guys that held their own and performed above avg.(Anderson, Rowand) but havent had a guy that just flat out raked. And Crede won MVP or some crap but looking at his stats he wasnt raking in the minors. And Uribe was already in the majors when we had him and Colorado already gave up on him despite all his talent. With how Josh Fields has hit in AAA if he came to the bigs and pulled a Brian Anderson than maybe id start to get on Walker a little.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) No kidding!! A 52 yarder to end the half into that tiny little space inbetween the uprights a couple stories above the ground....great leg strength and accuracy. supposedly he misses some extra point kicks though which is kind of funny. I guess in the NFL with more space he wouldnt miss them but I wouldnt know since I dont watch the AFL.
