  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 18, 2016 -> 07:19 PM) Um, Bears. You feel like the bulls/wsox currently have a better front office/coach and a brighter future than the bears currently?
  2. I don't think I even want to watch the bulls the rest of this season or following seasons until some major changes are made. Right now it seems that JR currently owns the 2 worst teams in Chicago from top to bottom.
  3. Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll make sure we have both checked thoroughly before buying. Just wasn't sure if it should be a deal breaker.
  4. Does anyone have any experience in owning a home with private well and private septic sewer. I will be buying my first house with my soon to be wife in the upcoming months and so far the property we have liked the most is private well/sewer and neither of us have had any experience dealing with that. Some help on the plus/minuses would help, it's in the Chicagoland area and on a half acre lot for whatever that's worth.
  5. Love the trade, I did like all 3 prospects we traded but none of them are can't miss guys and if anything it seems like trance/Micah will be future bench guys. I also stopped crying over losing mediocre prospects after being so upset about olivo/reed for Freddy Garcia.
  6. I may vote republican for the first time in my life simply based on all the candidates being against the ridiculous min wage hikes that have brought up around the country. This would only be true if trump isn't the republican candidate as I'd rather not vote at all over support someone like him....
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 11:40 PM) Wow. I'd totally forgotten about that. 97% of the conversation had nothing to do with baseball. I'm coming up on 13 years?!?!? And 25,000 posts? You also are the reason I had to change my name, too many people thinking I said what you said in the chat and on the boards!
  8. I can maybe understand firing someone that really deserves it giving you a good feeling, but having them come in on an off day to do it.... That's terrible.
  9. Did you even ask for the cop for a warning or just assume one would be given? Often if you ask they will at least consider it if you have a clean record..... If you didnt even ask this whole thread was a waste of time. Also, does your town have a ticket quota for its police department, if not your end of the month theory makes 0 sense.
  10. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) They weren't BPA to you, every team values and scouts players differently and have very different boards. Those three were BPA to the Cubs, and thats why they drafted them Thats not true..... you need to factor in $
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 03:55 PM) A few months back my boss made me fire someone who didn't deserve to be fired. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. That will be my situation in the upcoming months, there definitely a couple people who if not deserving to be fired pretty close to it that I'd still hate having to fire someone I'd actually be a bit relieved after.
  12. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 10:49 PM) Fired someone today and it felt f***ing great. I'm going to have to fire someone within the next few months probably and absolutely dreading it.
  13. It really makes no sense to change the rules about home plate collisions and not change the 2b slide. 2 playoff teams lost starters because of it and there is no need for it in baseball. The only thing is, if this rule comes into affect they better make sure the 2b/ss are tagging the base
  14. My last ticket I was going 35 in a 25, cop pulled me over and said he and his partner saw me talking on my cellphone which is why I was pulled over. I tell him my car has blue tooth and what you guys saw was me eating a bagel, he decided to give me a speeding ticket instead.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 26, 2015 -> 12:34 AM) Yes. Giants lose. Cubs clinch late friday with no one to see! Why would this be exciting to you? Seeing it or not, this has been a pretty awesome season to be a Cubs fan....
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) Haven't seen the other movies you mentioned but Watchmen is unbelievably boring. He doesn't make funny movies, in general he makes serious movies which I guess some people like and some hate.
  17. QUOTE (SnB @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 05:09 PM) Is it a jerk move to go to a golf course and just chip/putt on their practice green w/ no intention of playing the course? I really just want to practice those 2 aspects of my game more than hitting the range. There is a small chip/put area on the driving range off of Lake Street just off the Elgin/Ohare express way as well if you wanted to be proper about it lol
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) i am not a gm nor am i trying to pretend to be an amateurish gm. this is the real world. i stated i didn't like the trade, and gave a full explanation on why. now you and maybe someone else want the what if factor. yes this little thing you want me to do is a wishful dream, since it will never going to happen. Saad is gone. btw pls explain how i missed this playoff run according to your opinion. teravainen was a very important part of the playoff roster, and you made a comment how he could hardly break the roster.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) and what is soo different from my link??? if this is the best you can provide, i am done with you.... keep pretending you know stuff. Not the best source but, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offer_sheet $5,478,986 to $7,305,316 First-, second-, and third-round pick I mean before you call someone out maybe should look it up
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) this offseason, at least for me and my opinion on bowman, will tell how good or bad of a GM he is. how creative he can get, but the #1, is to see how he will address the priorities of the team. if done right, i really can see the hawks winning 2 or 3 more back to back. the big point is, if done right. no one will know if he is doing it right. only when game time starts. as you said in another post, the core is there. build around it. put his name on this team now. Honestly I think Bowman only has made 2 mistakes since being the GM. He gave Bickell all that money when everyone here knew he wasn't worth it, was definitely the opportune time to get rid of him after the last cup winner. The 2nd mistake being he paid Crawford too much, now I don't know if this is really even a mistake as who knows what Crawford would have gotten in free agency but in my mind it could have been a good deal less. If you can only think of 2 mistakes and one not really being a mistake in a GM's tenure I think they are doing one helluva job, not to mention winning 3 cups and having to rebuild the team after the first one. Still sad Ladd had to go
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2015 -> 06:02 PM) Totally agree. The CRAWFORD movement in Hawks fans is the same group that annually campaigns for the back up QB on the Bears, the non-playing rookie guy on the Bulls, and the hot playing nobody guy in the minors for our baseball teams. It is the simple response to a not so simple situation. I don't think there is as much hate for Crawford as there is hate for his contract. Crawford is a good goalie but he is a replaceable goalie as well.
  22. Its baseball, a manager missing a series doesn't matter much.... I can see if it was any of the other sports where the coach has a much bigger impact.
  23. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 01:28 PM) This is an incredibly recent phenomenon. Do you know how many majors Rod Laver has, off the top of your head? The idea of "slam count=ultimate count of greatness" only really became a focus in the late 90s when Sampras reached 14. But even if we're going to do this, Novak Djokovic has as many majors at 27 as Agassi and Connors retired with, and more than McEnroe. You really need to keep in mind the level of competition he's been facing in these finals, too. You NEED to adjust for era. Federer's biggest competition was guys like Nalbandian, Safin, Roddick. No offense to them, but they don't really compare to today's top guys. I think you are overrating the top guys of this era given the decline of Nadal/Federer and again nobody is saying Djokovic isn't a great just he wont be remembered the same as Nadal/Federer while probably more talented than both.
  24. Nobody is going to say Novak hasn't had an impressive career that is still far from over, but bottom line in Tennis you are remembered and judged by # of Majors won. Djokovic could/should easily have been at a higher number given his talent.
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) I don't get it. I feel Djokovic should be winning majors consistently and he's just a consistent let down. I agree, with Federer way past his prime and Nadal being on the downswing the past few years Djokovic is so far ahead of everyone else in terms of talent he should be dominating on a Federer(prime) type level. He still wins a lot, but I think he could have had a much better career.
