QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) Best Game Ever? http://greatgatsbygame.com/ I cant believe there was a time we paid for games that could be won in 5-10 mins. Although I always bought my nes games at the 1 dollar store so.

QUOTE (IChaseBlackWood @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 10:44 PM) Oh my! I did not .....ugghhh, OK ..yessss, yes I did! BUT only because I couldn't remember your last name, I knew your first though!! Are you facebook creeping soxtalkers?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 12:01 AM) Come on man. You can't watch some prime Duncan and Olajuwon and say that Shaq had anything resembling a post move. I think the fact Shaq was a physical monster and had some post game compared to guys like Howard/Griffin who came into the league only being able to dunk was his point.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) I always thought that Garnett and Duncan were similar as well. Duncan isnt close to having the athletic abilities of Garnett or Hakeem.... he is just an incredibly fundamental.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) I just watched Inception. Pretty great. You think that the top will stop? I think so, it was getting shaky and I think it's supposed to spin perfectly

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) Last Thursday, I went to the gas station to fill up and got a cheap car wash just to get the salt off. Car Wash was an addition $5. After filling up, I drove around to the wash and it was closed down temporarily. No biggie, my recipt said I had a week to use it. So every day I drove by it and it was still blocked off. Today was my last chance to use it so when I went it was still blocked off. I took my receipt inside and was calm and just asked if I could put the $5 towards gas or some soda or whatever and I was told I could not do that. I explained that I bought the wash a week ago and it expires today and the guy said I purchased the car wash at my own risk and there was nothing I could do. I even said there was no sign saying that but he didn't budge. I didn't make a big deal out of it, it is only $5 but still. WTF I know its only $5 buck but I'd call corporate or whatever, im assuming its like a BP/Shell/Marathon etc..... That is 100% bulls*** and in future your more likely to get your way if you cause a scene.

Congrats!!! Im so happy for you and Chase

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2011 -> 05:24 PM) His percentages are down and he's basically completely stopped blocking shots. He is not a player you build around... he scores 20 ppg because he's just that... average guy on a s*** team. 21 points on 18 shots a game is pretty bad, and he's no longer a 40% 3PT shooter, down to 32%. He's average. That being said, you could do a lot worse than drafting a Bargnani.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 6, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) Kyle Drabek is probably my favorite pitching prospect, and he's ready now. If he can do what he's capable of doing, along with Romero, that's going to be a nasty 1-2 punch. The Jays are really looking great after the Wells deal. I still can't believe that. And watch them get a nice piece or two out of Frankie Francisco around the deadline. Isnt Dustin McGowan due back this season as well? With him and Morrow in the rotation they actually have some nice SP assuming health and guys pitch to their talent level.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) Yeah Dwight has improved his offensive game no doubt, But when u shoot f***in 3 from 13 from the line, I got no f***ing sympathy for u. Hell even I made those shots in little league b-ball down under for f***s sake. It's a bit different doing it in an NBA stadium

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) Yes, but now instead of having one of the top three pitchers in the game lead your staff from day one, there's now an infinite amount of more pressure on super studs like Colby Lewis, Tommie Hunter, and C.J. Wilson to duplicate, if not exceed, what they did last year. I don't like the odds of that happening. Losing Lee was a mammoth blow. Sure, they could still win that division. But it's going to be much more difficult. Right but Cliff Lee was not a factor in their regular season success last season so I still don't see that as a blow.
-
I think the O's pitching staff actually has some talent in it. Arrieta and Tillman were considered top pitching prospects and if Duchscherer stays healthy between him, Guthrie, and Matusz it could be worse.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) The West has improved, but I don't think it's that good yet. The Rangers took a pretty big step back in losing Lee, even if they did bring in Beltre. The Athletics have a solid team and could be dangerous, but I still think they'll have trouble scoring runs. The Angels biggest moves were bringing in Scott Downs and trading for Vernon Wells - consider me extremely unimpressed with their offseason. Meanwhile, the White Sox and Twins both look like legitimate 90 win teams, perhaps better. My bet for best 2nd place team outside of the AL East is the Central, and they may have the best 2nd place team in the league anyways (though I tend to doubt that). Cliff Lee only had 15 starts for the Rangers, went 4-6, and had an era around 4... I agree that it hurts them in the post season but as far as regular season goes that isnt a factor at all.

I don't know if it was discussed here and I just missed it, but apparently Garnett hit Channing Frye in the nuts when the Celtics played the Suns a couple games back. He later said he doesn't apologize for anything and that he was actually ejected from game because he was talking too much not because of the incident. I don't know if Garnett was always like this and it never came out in Minnesota but ever since he has been in Boston the guy has been a scumbag.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Voting for the MVP in the NBA is easy but people make it difficult for no reason. The best player in the NBA (and really all sports) is also the most valuable player (as long as he doesn't miss a bunch of games). It really isn't even debatable that James is the most valuable player in the NBA right now and will be for the foreseeable future. If that was the case the award would be named different, valuable and best are not the same.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) Saw this little bit in a John Hollinger Chat from yesterday BTW; I do think its silly that his reasoning for saying Paul is better because of a stat he madeup, but there definitely is a lot of Rose homerism going around this season too.

On top of that, if Lebron wasn't playing SF I think a better fit for him would be PF than SG.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 2, 2011 -> 10:57 PM) I've liked him too, but he unfortunately is behind too many players on the Bulls. Deng + Boozer + Taj + Korver (a bit). There is just no minutes for him. He tried to slim down to play more wing, but isn't a good enough ball handler. He basically is a tweener of a 3/4 (though now to light to play a true 4). Turnover prone and forces bad shots when he is in. He will probably be a solid role player in the NBA just not on the Bulls. I disagree, I think he actually is a pretty solid ball handler from when Ive seen him play. On top of that he is more of a 2/3 than a 3/4 and we have no legit backup SF and SG is a position the Bulls are weak at too. Yes, the Bulls have Korver but I think JJ brings more to the table. I think something happened behind the scenes that put him in the back of the line.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) Curry is lightyears more talented. People were kind of meh on him going into the draft though, I agree Curry is more talented but even if he is near Curry thats a good draft pick. Honestly when your drafting that late in the draft if you get any contributer to your team you did good.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) There is a whole lot of doubt to the NBA-ness of Jimmer. He could very well be a second round pick from the sounds of it. Given the Bulls are going to be drafting in late first, I wouldnt mind taking a flyer on him. Outside of top10-15ish why not take a gamble in the NBA draft?

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
GoodAsGould replied to Chisoxfn's topic in 2011 Season in Review
I wouldnt mind Bonderman or Millwood. Obviously they would have to see Bonderman pitch first and whatnot. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) Oh, thanks. I'm new to the sport. I must have missed the part when all those other Grand Slams happened in the last 6 weeks. Just stating the truth, Hopman and Davis Cups are insignificant, doubles tennis is lame.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 12:08 PM) Serbia won the Davis Cup, would have won the Hopman Cup, and Djokovic won the Australian Open, all in the last 6 weeks. Thats what I was referring to. And yes, that is dominance. Nadal won the French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open all in a row before the Australian Open. Sad to break it to you but grand slams are all that really matters in tennis world.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 30, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) 90 percent of them seem to take place on West College. The party house we all hung out at a few years back was down there and literally the 2nd semester that year, every freakin weekend something crazy was happening. My one friend literally got beat up by 5 guys walking back home when they asked him if he was happy Obama won the election and he jokingly said "Who's Obama?" got jumped right there by all 5 of them while he was with his gf, f***in ridiculous. Crazy, I have never gotten jumped but i have a friend and she was knocked out from behind and wokeup in some random guy's house. He told her that was passed out so they took her someplace safe... was realllly weird.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 30, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) Zack Snyder is directing the new Superman movie? Ugh, so I guess we have nothing but ridiculously shot slow motion action scenes to look forward to. I like Zack Snyder movies, Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Watchmen were all entertaining imo. I know a lot of people didn't care for Watchmen but I was a big fan.
